Chapter 158 - Day 158: Ragna (IV)

"I will really treasure this gift." Ragna kept taking the cherry Grass in his hands as if it were something extremely delicate.

"Well, actually you can do whatever you want with it, I'm done collecting everything so you can stay here longer if you like…" But before Blake could speak again, Ragna started walking towards the field where cherry grass was spate and Blake noticed what had caught his attention.

"Fascinating, older sister Candy would be very interested in studying this type of spirits." What Ragna was referring to with those words was one of the peculiar creatures that appeared once Blake collected crops, he had left them to be able to absorb them since he had finished harvesting, but it seemed they caught Ragna's attention as well.

"Do you even know what they are?" Blake approached him because of what he had heard.

"These are runeys, they are a type of spirits that are everywhere, it is thanks to them that the runic energy accumulates in specific areas, although this one is something different, it does not look too translucent like the ones I am used to seeing."

"I see."

"Yeah... Wait, are you even able to see them?!"

"Eh... I guess so, although I thought only I could see them."

"That means..." But before he could say anything else, Ragna fell completely silent as he watched and tried to analyze what had just happened in front of his eyes. "Wha-what did you just do?"

"Well... I absorbed it."

"But that is not possible!" Blake didn't know what to say, he had simply done the same as always and absorbed that strange creature and then listened to how the system told him that some stat had increased, maybe he shouldn't have done it in front of Ragna, but it was too late for that.

And after another series of words to calm him down, it seemed that the situation was back to normal once more.

"Maybe I'm exaggerating things, it's possible that the runeys act differently in this place, my master said that there were many things that were different, yes it must be that." Those murmurs were what Blake could hear, he already had no idea why Ragna had been so upset, but he couldn't do much more than try to steer the conversation elsewhere.

"Well... And where exactly are you from, Ragna?"

"Huh, oh right, I mentioned that I'm new to Laguz, actually I come from the Uruz continent, more specifically the Norad empire... From a town called Kardia, haha."

"I see... I think it's the first time I've heard about him."

"I'm not surprised, by the way, do you know what time it is exactly?"

"Hmm... Looks like it's a little past noon."

"Oh... Damn... See you later, brother Blake!" And unable to say goodbye properly, Blake stood still in the same place as he watched the figure of his new friend had disappeared in a cloud of dust and wondered if all the people he knew were so peculiar.

"I guess I'll go find something else to do." But before he could breathe, an orange shadow appeared behind him and made his blood run cold.

"I found you..." Removing his initial surprise and that he almost drew his sword to defend himself, Blake realized who it was and began to listen to what the smiling Shara had to say before taking the path that would lead them right to the town square where apparently everyone was gathered.

"Well, it looks like it's finally here, come here, boy!" Blake's arrival caught the attention of all those present and even more so because the call that the mayor was making was directed to him.

Blake didn't think too much and just approached the mayor not knowing what was really going on, but he only had to listen to what the mayor had to say to understand everything.

"Today was a bit rainy morning, I hope there is no problem related to this." The responses denying it from the public were enough for Wells to breathe a sigh of relief and continue with his speech. "That's good to know, well, I asked everyone to get together because there are some announcements to give, although I think that's pretty obvious. First of all, I wanted to know if you were all able to recover the things that were stolen from you in the last few days."

"I got all the kitchen utensils in perfect condition."

"Each and every one of the clothes that I lost returned to my hands."

"The cane in addition to Carmen's trophies returned to us."

"Yes, you did a great job, Mayor Wells!" Those and more words affirming the mayor's question in addition to the congratulations sounded throughout the place and the mayor had to calm the situation down a bit.

"Fine, fine, but I'm not the person you should be thanking, actually, it was all thanks to Blake, he was the one who took care of putting that annoying raccoon in its place and recovering all the lost things, so please, let's all give him a big round of applause." And as if repeating the above, the shouts of thanks combined with a wave of applause was what reached the embarrassed Blake who understood why he had been called. "That makes that problem end at last and there are no more situations like that, or so I hope, the other thing that I needed your attention for is the following."

Everyone's expectation was on the mayor at that moment, Blake could see excited smiles on the faces of several people and especially Sakuya for some reason.

The tension was felt in the air while everyone waited for Wells to speak, and Wells was aware of that since he remained silent waiting for the right moment, Blake did not know the reason for that situation, but a shout from the smiling old man was enough so that everyone gave the same scream of emotion and that Blake also felt the same while understanding everything.

"Tomorrow is the Wooly Festival!"
