Finishing up with his daily tasks and realizing that the system didn't do his waking job, Blake ended up accepting that his biological clock got used to his new sleep schedule too quickly.
And now, he found himself looking at his partner who seemed to be in the middle of a rather peculiar situation.
He hadn't realized it before, but the process that it had started from the day before seemed to be about to end, that feeling conveyed by that scale had been completely absorbed by the sword plant, and because of that, it was going through some changes that could be seen with the naked eye.
Unlike its old image, you could see that its frame had become a bit thin, the excess branches on it had shrunk, and what should be the edge of it had become exactly that, no longer it was just a sword plant, in truth it seemed to be a sword completely.
"How do you feel?" Blake asked it that question unconsciously, but unlike the silence he expected in response, the sword plant had stirred in an attempt to convey its thoughts that Blake thought he understood. "Well, I don't know if this is something normal, but I'm happy for you, you really look good."
And as an answer, his partner moved again happily.
"It seems that you can absorb some specific materials, I could feel that scale possessed a large amount of runic energy, maybe that's what attracted you to it." And receiving more movements in response, Blake gave a nod trying to understand them. Then he took his partner and let it return to its seed form to rest. "Ok, now... I don't have any 'training', I guess I'll just go fulfill a different request for today."
Without going too far, he left his house and opened his mailbox where a letter was waiting for him with the information he had in mind.
[Can you help?
Client: Sakura
There is something I want you to get.]
"I hope I don't get in trouble..." Forgetting his strange thoughts, Blake made his way to the town inn where he would find his client, or his downfall...
"Welcome to Sakuya's souvenir shop! Buy something!" That was the first thing that came out of Sakuya when she saw a shadow approaching her souvenir shop.
"Actually, I think people will feel threatened in that way. By the way, good morning."
"Oh, Blake. Did you see the letter? Well, I wanted you to get me some bamboo shoots, one of my clients said that he has never seen one before."
"I see." Blake deduced that that would be the only instruction. 'But if they are everywhere, how is it possible that he has never seen one...?'
"I hope you know how to get them."
"Shouldn't I just pull them?"
"That's the tricky way, the right way is to use a sickle to go deeper into its roots and make it easier to pull it out."
"I understand, thanks for the advice."
"Then I hope you can help me; I would appreciate it very much." Having all the information he needed, Blake quickly teleported to the fields of his house where bamboo shoots covered most of it.
"I think I really should clean this place up... I'll write it down for later." Following Sakuya's advice, it didn't take him long to get the vast majority of the bamboo shoots in sight of him and he went back to complete the request.
…
…
"Are these enough?" Blake had gone back the same way until he was back inside the inn.
"More than enough, you showed that I can really count on you." Sakuya took all the bamboo shoots and then put them in the sack that she brought.
"It really was nothing..." Blake didn't feel like it was a very complicated thing to do.
"No, you really saved me, so I have something special for you! Hehe, pick one!" And like deja vu, Sakuya took out three boxes with different designs and placed them in front of Blake as a playful smile formed on her face. "Last time you were unbelievably lucky, I'd like to see if the same thing happens this time."
Blake paid close attention to the boxes in front of him, he was still with his little traumas that he wasn't getting anything from the mysterious boxes he had gotten lately, but he wasn't going to give up for that. He took one of the boxes that had the fruit design on it and opened it so that the next moment the typical system notification would sound.
[Acquired: Strawberry Jam.]
"And... I was right, you spent all the luck you had left."
"Sigh... I knew this would happen, anyway, thanks for the attempt, I'm sure they must be special to you." Blake put away his reward without much emotion.
"Well, I couldn't tell you, you never know what will come out of them, the only way would be to open them, but it's also risky... Although, they also share the memory of the places I've visited."
"I guess you've been to a lot of different places."
"It's part of my job, you have to travel everywhere to see many different places, that's one of the reasons why I love to travel, hehe... I guess this bamboo shoot will become a good memory, I really appreciate it."
"You're welcome, let me know if you need anything else any other time."
"I'll make sure to do it, though..." Blake was about to leave, but he noticed that Sakuya wanted to say something else.
"Yes?"
"I feel kind of bad seeing you go just with a jar of jam... I know, come on, follow me!" And unable to object, Blake went after Sakuya until he realized that they had once again reached the same place where he had entered the runic path last time. "This place will do."
"What exactly are we here for?" Blake didn't have idea what they were doing there.
"To do some tests, I still remember that mom said that you can learn runic abilities just by seeing them, I want to see if that's true, do you use any other weapons besides the short sword?"
"Well, I can use a spear."
"Then it will do, pay attention." Blake seemed not to fully understand what was happening, but with the questions Sakuya had just asked and seeing that she summoned a common spear from her sack, he was able to deduce what was about to happen, and seeing how she was being surrounded by a familiar green aura and the spear in her hands was being covered by a bluish layer that gave off a feeling of coldness, he became even more convinced of it. "Sky Hurricane!"
Just as those words came out of her, the spear in her hands began to dance, the delicate movements she made were almost hypnotic as the element that the spear gave off made its presence in her surroundings, forming a scene where the spring had vanished and was replaced by a huge flame and then ended in what seemed to be the end of a dance.
"Heh, I hope you saw it well, although I wouldn't mind repeating it." Blake didn't answer, he was still immersed in the previous scene where he had felt a new sensation of Sakuya, but besides that, his mind was busy understanding what he had just watch.
It didn't take long for him to summon his own spear and assume the same position that he had seen before, he felt the same sensation that he already knew, and as he experienced the runic energy coursing through his body, he knew that everything would turn out the way he wanted.
The same green aura covered his body, but unlike Sakuya, the spear he held was covered in a bluish coating that anyone could identify as a powerful torrent of water. This didn't faze Blake at all and in the next moment he repeated the same moves as Sakuya causing the few remaining flames in the vicinity to be completely overwhelmed by completely eliminating them, giving an even more unique sight just as it was Blake's turn to finish his dance, and a single thought appeared in Sakuya's mind.
'Mom was right, he destroyed my common sense...'
[Progress… Saved.]
