Chapter 108 - Day 108: Route (II)

"Perhaps the best thing is to go to that place." And closing his eyes, it didn't take long for Blake to open them again and realize that he was once again in that totally white room with which he was already becoming familiar. "I have to digest all the information that is in my head."

What he was referring to was the supposed legacy that he had just received from that mysterious person who dwelled within the runic ability that he received.

"There are a lot of things that I understand better now and others that I actually have no idea what they are, but if I have to take the important parts, that would be the runic ability and the route that came with it." Compared to when he performed the runic skill in that strange space, he knew that right now it was not even able to perform 5% of the power it showed before. Another change was that it had become a beginner rank runic ability. "I guess I can't complain, I think it would really be too exaggerated if I could perform that technique while I'm still in the runic awakening, although with the oddities that happen to me, I wouldn't be surprised."

But all that was not in his head for long when he looked at the "route" he now had with him, and from what he understood, it was the method of forming his own path.

Even though he successfully entered the runic path, that did not mean that everything was settled for him, entering only created the necessary foundation to touch the tip of the true runic path, it was up to him to form his own path that would lead him to levels above what it was at that time.

There were three points that he had to keep in mind to climb the runic path, one was the runic energy that would serve so to speak as the fuel that would help him move forward once, he converted it into elemental essence, and another was the route that he would take, this defined how the path he would follow would be and at the same time how difficult, but also how big his gains would be, and lastly, he needed to obtain the desire to continue advancing through it.

Each route was unique as it was formed by each individual from nothing, making the power behind it totally dependent on each person. That same information was what made Blake not know what to think since the route that was with him obviously did not belong to him, but he felt that it was deeply linked to his existence completely.

"I can understand that if I have this runic ability, I will need to follow that person's route to master it, but... I can tell that it is incomplete." That was true, concentrating a little, Blake could glimpse that so-called route that seemed to be part of him now, an almost disembodied image had appeared in front of him showing what seemed to be the beginning of a path that had to be traveled, in the distance it could be seen how it continued to seem endless, the surrounding landscape was still a deep void with a few simple flashes of light flickering from time to time and the floor with various parts collapsing made Blake realize that the route he had was not complete, it was as if it was never finished in the first place only leaving the fundamental parts of it, which made Blake grasp a new goal. "I think it will be up to me to finish it, isn't it?"

As for the runic energy, he wasn't worried, he would just need to continually accumulate it to keep moving forward, but about his desire to want to move forward, he didn't really have a clear idea, so he left it for another time.

Inside his mind, there were many more things, many new data that became common sense for him as well as some techniques too useful to use, and although his power did not increase significantly, he was really satisfied with what he did learn.

"And lastly... I should understand my elemental affinity even more." There wasn't much to do with that point, he really knew what it was even though he avoided telling the others. His elemental affinity was the time, he knew that no one else besides him was able to feel or see anything related to it, that was the reason that when he used the skills related to that element no one else grasped what was actually happening.

Another thing he realized was that both "Absolute time" and "Shadowless" did not fall into the category of runic ability or spell even though they were similar, which confused him even more. He also knew that he could combine his elemental affinity with runic abilities showing strange effects, but with magic that didn't happen, but what he was sure of was that everything needed runic energy to work.

"I really should feel happy, I fully understand that my elemental affinity is the time and that it has incredible potential if I learn how to use it correctly, but taking away the little information I understand, I'm practically blank." After saying that and looking at nothing thinking about everything that the future holds, his attention was attracted by the huge door that was in front of him. "I know that it is useless to try to open it at this moment, I do not feel the same sensation as last time, but I am sure that when I arrive at the moment, I will be able to open it and more of my answers will be answered, but I guess I just have to wait and get stronger, right…? I think that was all... Well, without paying attention to the system."

That thought lasted a second in his head before it disappeared, as much as he thought about it, he had no idea what the system really was, of all the illogical things that happened to him, that was on another level, he was completely sure it wasn't his elemental affinity that was responsible or some kind of strange magic or runic ability, which made him wonder why the system was part of him.

"Sigh... I think that every time I think about it, the existence of the system makes less sense." Crossing the last thing on the list, he left that space to return to the interior of the tree and test the benefits that having his own route gave him, so he got into a comfortable position and began directing the runic energy from the surroundings to be absorbed by him only to be surprised the next second that he felt the familiar sensation in his body and it filled him completely. "I… advanced to the sixth level of runic awakening?"

That peculiar sensation was the same one he had felt that time, but the difference he noticed was the ease with which he absorbed it and was able to convert that runic energy into elemental essence that his core continuously sucked, but in addition to feeling that he had successfully advanced, he realized that it wasn't the only thing that had changed inside him.
