Chapter 97 - Day 97: Above all (III)

"Who exactly are you? What is your name? What clan or sect do you belong to?" A little surprised by the sudden questions and not knowing what to say, Blake decided to start with the simplest.

"My name is Blake..."

"Blake..." The man seemed to want to hear something else, but it seemed that would not be the case.

"Just Blake."

"Okay, a better question, what family do you belong to, Blake?"

"Well, I'm not sure if I have family..." The man was starting to get a strange look on his face, so he tried to ask another question.

"So, who are you?" And hearing that, Blake responded as best he could.

"Hmm... I guess I'm a farmer."

"A farmer...?" That man's expression was quite serious, the first thing he thought was that the blonde in front of him was lying in some way, but seeing his face and not feeling his expressions or heart rate change in any way, was enough to forget about all that and turn his attention back to him. "Okay, Blake, tell me, do you know where you are and how you got here?"

"Actually, I was trying to learn a runic ability, and then I appeared in this place."

"Trying to learn... Where did you get it?"

"I bought it from a friend for a hundred coins."

"For a hundred coins...?" At that moment, that man no longer knew what to think, he still wanted to believe that maybe he was dreaming or being trapped in that place had finally driven him completely crazy, but after blinking many times and pinching his face, even though he couldn't, he had to give up and try to ask again to get more information. "Can you tell me what year we are in?"

"I'm sorry, I really don't know." And listening to Blake's answer, the man was confused again.

"You do not know?" Blake understood his doubt, so he told a little about his situation.

"Actually, a few days ago I showed up in the town where I live now and I didn't have any of my memories, I forgot to ask what year it is, haha." But even though he gave that little laugh to lighten the situation a bit, that laugh was enough to further upset the man and make him scream in his mind.

'What the hell is this kind of situation?! I waited so many years to have a worthy heir to my legacy and what I find is a simple farmer who bought my most precious runic ability for only a hundred coins and who also suffers from amnesia! But he was still able to enter this place! What the hell happened to the world?!'

'Why do I feel like I am being insulted?' Blake had that feeling, but he didn't know why...

"Forget it, you are already here and your level could be said to be somewhat acceptable, how long have you been practicing the runic path?"

"Hmm... I think less than a week."

"I see... What?!!" And again, in front of Blake it was possible to see as that man began to walk from one side to the other while more words that were impossible to understand came out of his mouth and he approached Blake again with more questions. "You got help from something, didn't you, some miracle medicine or understanding left by a sovereign? Something."

"Not really, I only entered the runic path and reached the fifth level of the Runic awakening, I know it's something strange, but I don't see it as very surprising."

"Strange you say, if I wasn't a mere soul essence, I would vomit blood right now, how the hell can you regard that as simply strange!?" The man's exaggerated expression didn't really surprise Blake.

"Well, a lot of strange things have happened to me lately that you couldn't even imagine, in the end, I ended up accepting everything as normal." Not happy with that answer, the man took Blake by the shoulders again to make sure of something.

"Let me check your body, I'm sure there's something strange in you and I won't stay with the doubt." And without letting Blake give his opinion on whether he agreed or not, that man put all his attention on him, and then he closed his eyes and put pressure on his body, but from the reaction that was generated on his face the next second, it would have been better if he didn't see anything. "But what the hell is this? A drop of runic essence and an elemental core? This goes against nature, and what the hell is that gray energy inside of you?!!"

At that moment, that man's mind completely broke and Blake could only see how he threw himself to the ground and then took a fetal position while words like "impossible" or "it's a dream" came out of his mouth repeatedly until he didn't know how much time had actually passed.

'I hope I can still sleep a little, I don't know how long I've been here, and this man hasn't stopped having an existential crisis.' Blake was already getting a little bored of waiting, but he was pulled out of his thoughts when he saw how that man stood up with difficulty while again approaching him with a face that was not very pretty to see.

"Your name was Blake, right?"

"Yes, I am."

"Okay, listen, I have no idea what happened after I left this part of me in this place, so let's do this, I'll take everything you told me as normal, I'll firmly believe that there are people in the runic awakening in the present who can comprehend runic abilities beyond their level, I will even believe that anyone can form an elemental core and runic essence within them, I don't want to keep feeling this confused feeling that I can never satisfy, so I'll just ask you one question, will you take my inheritance and make his name sound again throughout the world?" That question seemed to carry a huge weight behind it, but Blake was quite calm when he answered.

"I guess I can do it."

"Okay, that's enough for me. Pay attention because I can only show it to you once before my mission is finished, I want this image to be deeply etched in your mind and you can even take it to a new level, because this…" While saying all that, that man had moved to what seemed to be the center of everything and his presence grew little by little as he raised his hand and finished speaking, only to show an image quite unique the next second. "This is the fruit of my whole life..."

And as if everyone knew what was about to happen, all stopped to be a spectator of the whole show, just when that man lowered his hand in a movement similar to a cut and a totally white light illuminated the place, nothing spectacular happened but in less than the span of a breath, the entire space in front of him... It was totally divided by a simple cut.
