Chapter 82 - Day 82: Bean Throwing Festival (IV)

Blake continued looking around until he realized that in a high area was the mayor of the town watching the area while he had a smile on his face and shared a drink with several people.

Blake watched everything carefully as he was surprised at the magnitude of the event, he was soon influenced and went to one of the tables to take a plate that had what seemed to be a piece of bread that had a sauce with beans on it, and once he took the first bite, he was so enthralled by the taste that he didn't realize both Marian and Collette were inches away from him, equally enjoying the festival.

"Awwwww, the best part of festivals is always the food!" An expression of utter fascination came from Collette as she continued to shove food into her mouth.

"I have to say uncle Blaise always shines with the cymbals, I haven't even seen anyone ever get sick, it's a bit disappointing if you ask me." Likewise, Marian had some food in her hands, though much less than her dear friend.

"Sorvy, dir you sey sonethring?"

"First finish chewing…! Hey, isn't that Blake?" It seemed that Blake's figure had finally caught the attention of one of the girls.

"Um, looks like he's thoroughly enjoying dad's cooking, hey Blake!" Collette tried to get his attention, but that greeting was completely ignored by Blake as he was totally disconnected from reality as he tasted all the flavors in his mouth. "Looks like he's really enjoying it."

Collette didn't try to do anything else seeing Blake's state, but before she could start devouring something else, the voice of one of the tourists reached Marian's ears causing the inevitable to happen.

"Ahhg, I think I ate too much for today!"

"I just found a patient, come on Collette!"

"Wait, I'm not done eating yet!" But despite her complaints, Collette couldn't help but be dragged by Marian in the direction of a poor victim, leaving Blake alone in the place.

Time kept running and Blake didn't seem to get out of that situation as he continued to eat his food, not even when a cheerful green-haired girl came over to talk to him.

"Ohh, it seems like you are devouring everything, isn't it?! You should try the fish dishes, they are very popular, Carlos and I caught them personally!" Blake was still immersed in the flavors, so he didn't hear anything Carmen said, but she misunderstood things. "Yes... I see you enjoy the festival; I didn't want to come to bother you or something, haha..."

The situation was actually a bit awkward for Carmen and she wondered if she had done something to make Blake angry since he hadn't spoken to her since she arrived causing her to panic a bit.

"I... I'm sorry, I don't know what I did wrong for you to act that way, maybe I'm not used to starting a conversation correctly, they tell me that very often, I think I'm a bit difficult to deal with o what do you think of me? Blake, haha…" Waiting for anything to be answered, Carmen thought about how to improve the situation, but she never imagined what would come out of Blake's mouth and that she would totally misunderstand his words.

"Aww, you're delicious."

"Eh…? Eeeehhhhh?!! D-Delicious, what do you mean…?!" But before she could make sure that she had heard correctly, her brother's voice reached Carmen's ears.

"Carmen, we need to bring in more fish, Sherman seems to be devouring them all!"

"Eh? I, yeah, I'm coming!... This... I, see ya, Blake!" And with those last parting words, Blake was left completely alone again.

"Awww, yes. You are really delicious red bean soup." And without realizing what had just happened, Blake had finished with another plate of food and finally felt that it was enough to later see how everyone approached the center of the square to listen to what the mayor had to say.

"Well, it seems like everyone is enjoying the festival, isn't it?" A wave of cheers and applause came from the crowd signaling that the mayor was correct. "I am extremely happy about that, first of all, I would like to ask for a big round of applause for all the inhabitants of the town who made this day possible."

Another wave of applause went up from the audience as the townspeople accepted them with total gratitude.

"Secondly, I want to thank everyone present for being here enjoying the festival, maybe everything looks great and happy, but without you, this festival would not make much sense, would it? Hehe." A series of laughs came accompanied by applause this time. Blake had his full attention on the mayor's speech, so he didn't notice the sudden surge of emotion that seemed to be in the air and coming out of the crowd. "And finally, just like every year before, it's time for the main event."

Just as the mayor said that Blake noticed how Shara was handing out papers to everyone present and she also gave one to Blake as she left with a smile on her face.

"I know there was a bit of a peculiar situation last year, but I assure you that it will not be repeated this time, so since it seems that the preparations are finally ready, it is the right time for everyone to prepare and give all their efforts in...!" And instantly, Blake was startled by the shout that the whole crowd gave in unison following the words that the mayor had said at that moment leaving Blake with a single question in his mind.

"The bean throwing!!!"

'Were they serious...?'
