Chapter 76 - Day 76: Abnormal (II)

[Do you want to learn the runic ability "Power wave"?]

'I was really wondering how hard it would be for me to learn runic abilities, I should have guessed the system was going to come up with another one of its traps... But I'm not going to complain!' And once Blake nodded at the system's question, in his mind began to repeat the scene he had just seen countless times until he himself felt how little by little he understood everything that had to do with said runic ability.

Shino had already finished her demonstration and just as she turned her gaze to ask Blake if he managed to see everything carefully and answer the questions he had, she saw how he began to get close enough to another huge rock that was not far away.

She couldn't understand what he was trying to do, but once she saw how he unsheathed his sword and took the same position as her before being surrounded by a green aura and shouting the same words she said, it was enough to surprise her.

Shino completely doubted that Blake would achieve what he was trying to do even though she had obviously seen that green aura surrounding him, and once she saw that after that cut nothing happened, she took a sigh to calm down, but it was really useless once she heard the crash coming from the rock that was Blake's target and it was cut in half while the part that was left seemed to have slowly turned to dust.

Shino watched all of this with a face of surprise, confusion, and a little fear, and she was quick to express her feelings.

"Blake, what did you do, no, more like, what just happened?!"

"Well... I used the runic ability you just taught me." Just hearing that, Shino didn't know what to think, she couldn't deny that she had just seen how Blake actually performed the runic ability that she showed, but even so, she didn't know how to feel about it.

"Forget it, you told me that you could even use spells at the same time you learn them, I shouldn't be surprised that you understood the runic ability just by seeing it, but I must say, you are not someone 'normal', Blake." That comment was not new anymore for him, Blake was already compared to a monster several times by Marjorie when he showed his talent and he was sure that it would not be the last time he would hear that. "Besides, there's no way you can't materialize something element when you perform a runic ability, was that it?"

"Yeah, I thought I'd use the element I have an affinity with."

"I see, and since you said that other people can't notice said element, I must tell you that I couldn't grasp the elemental essence used at that time, I only realized what had happened when the rock was cut. Are you able to materialize another element when using it?" Following the suggestion of his master, Blake tried to repeat what he had done before, but instead of using his elemental affinity, he chose to use the fire element, and as if it were something very simple, he managed to do it perfectly and a wave of fire shot out from his sword to disappear into nothing.

"Looks like I can do it and I didn't feel anything strange, I guess everything is fine right?" Blake was satisfied, but it seemed that Shino still had things on her mind that bothered her.

"Now I am completely sure."

"Sure?"

"Yes, not only did you understand how to perform the runic ability, but also how to perform it perfectly, before you ask, no, someone who just learned a runic ability would need a lot of practice and training to do the same as you, someone couldn't materialize any other element in such a simple way, the normal thing would be to only be able to use its elemental affinity, but from the simple way you managed it, I can say that your understanding and control over the runic ability is practically perfect. Didn't something similar happen to you with spells?"

"Marjorie told me that unless you had an affinity, you wouldn't feel any problem using different spells, but every spell I've used has felt like second nature to me, I don't know if that has anything to do with it."

"Each new thing about you is more disconcerting, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I would think this whole thing would be crazy, but now I can't help but accept it."

"Hahaha, I don't know what to say, it doesn't really feel strange to me, but I understand that everything I'm going through can be difficult for everyone's common sense."

"Hehe, it's true, you destroyed all my common sense." It was true what Blake said, for him, even though everything was new, he didn't really understand how strange his whole situation was or the phenomena he was going through, but he understood that he had to keep all the oddities hidden as best he could or many problems could arise in the future.

While they both continued to laugh, a series of gasps were heard in the distance as chestnut hair gradually approached the place. It didn't take long for her to arrive and notice that both Blake and Shino seemed to be enjoying themselves while she suffered from enormous exhaustion.

"Pant... Pant... Finally!"

"Oh, it seems that you finished earlier than expected." Obviously, the new person who had arrived was Sakuya.

"You're not funny, I couldn't even put on more comfortable clothes to run, I thought I'd pass out at any moment." Sakuya was really irritated and the words Blake said next didn't help at all.

"Look on the bright side, you're done with the laps."

"I don't see anything good in... You!!" Although Blake didn't understand Sakuya's reaction at the time, his doubts were resolved once the Shino spoke.

"I see you already noticed."

"How is this possible, when I left, he hadn't even entered the runic path, how come he's already at the fifth level of runic awakening!?"

"Although I also wanted to fully understand it, I could only conclude that Blake possesses a huge talent never seen before, and that's not all, I showed him a runic ability and he was able to perform it perfectly in the next instant."

"What?!" Blake no longer found that expression strange, so he just stayed silent waiting for the situation to calm down.
