I ran to my office with a lite heart, but still thinking the worst.
The moment I entered my office, I tried to calm myself down and started working. As I buried myself with a load of work, everything faded away since my attention was now on what I was focused on. I was then disturbed by the vibration alert message. When I checked, it was Anny saying I should be downstairs in 5 minutes.
I put my phone down vividly and packed up my stuff, especially the Lennox file that had the recent information I had found. With that information, we might have a strong case and our chances of getting him out of that dark place, that he has called home. It was not going to be easy, but it was worthy of a shot.
As I finished packing, I took my handbag and headed downstairs. I was taking my last step when I noticed that Anny was already waiting for me on the visitors' couch. I increased my walking pace until I reached her.
"I am sorry that I am late with two minutes" That wasn't my sincere apologize. I was calming her down, so we can have a relaxed mood with no tension and weird stares.
"Don't worry about that. Can we leave now" She smiled before she could unfold her hand, directing me the way out.We both worked out, with her leading the way to her car.
When we reached her car, she opened the door for me and headed to her side and started the car." Where to ?" I added as I broke the peculiar silent.
"Don't worry, I got this" She smiled as her whiten teeth appeared. She drove about 15 minutes before she turned into a forest place. She stopped in an open place where there were only cars and a vintage white door with an invisible building. We both came out of the door and walked to the vintage door. As much as I wanted to ask questions, but this time l kept them to myself.
She smiled before she opened the door. When she opened the door, there were steps to the ground. I looked at her with a puzzled face. She only returned a smile and started walking down the steps as I followed. While we were walking down the steps, we were welcomed by a classic sounds of rocky music. One could have said it was jazz.
I wondered how she really discovered this place because not one everyone could have seen or even opened the door.The silent that's outside the door shows that there is no building can that exists in this forest. She brought me to earth when she pulled my hand to a mannered tabled that was beautifully stunning. The interior design of the table was new to me. It's not like I was familiar with any of the objects, matter and any single thing that occupying the place except Anny.
We settled on that table while I was still amazed by the beauty of the place. She ordered food for the both of us, the drinks were already on their way.
"How did you really find this place?I mean, no one can just notice with their naked eye?" I asked as I sipped on my soft drink. Yes soft drink. I can't be drinking during lunch.
"Well, I guess I should be thankful to my ex-boyfriend. He was the one who introduced me to this place.Well, this was the place we came to on our first date night. I will never forget that day, it was one of the best days of my life yet the worse" Her emotions changed. She was getting worked up.
"What is wrong, you don't look okay?" I asked. I mean, Anny is always happy.This is my first time seeing her like this.
"Well, in that day my parents were found burnt.Do you see the screen television over there on your left? That is the screen I watched my parents' house turn to ashes. No one survived from the fire, everyone died there. I guess it was my lucky day too because I was suppose to be home on that day with my family." She tried to hold herself together, but it was hard. I could see through her that she was hurting. She needed to speak with someone professional, maybe she was going to be fine.
"I am sorry to hear that love, but believe me everything happens for a reason, you might not know the reason as yet but believe me, in the future you will know.Did you try to talk to someone professional like a therapist after?Did you seek professional help?I know you might think that you are strong, but you must bottle up and feel vulnerable to be able to let go. Let me not push it, but whenever you need someone to talk to, just know that I am here for you." I said.
"I will always keep that in mind, but as for today, we're here to have a great time. Let's forget about everything and enjoy this moment" She raised her glass, and we made a toast.
Our food can, and we started to dig in with some light conversation within. After we finished eating, we settled the bill and walked out since we still had work to focus on. We reached the car and she got in. As I was about to get in, my drive parked his car next to hers. How did he find me?That was the first question I asked myself. As I was still lost in my thoughts, I saw him coming out of his car and walking towards us.
As he reached the car, he stood there for a minute before he could say anything.
"Lennox Blanco would love to see you in thirty minutes. If only you still want to be his lawyer" He said as he looked at me. As if he were saying something smooth.
I had no time to argue with him. I took my bag and let Anny know it's a work call. I left the car and walked with him to his car. He opened the door for me, and he rushed to his seat and started the engine.
