Pov. Akira
- Again, Haile. - I say to the brunette who is getting ready while Tucker restarts the training simulation.
- Boss, why are you getting so heavy today? - Jack asks and I look at the redhead.
- We'll have a mission in a few days. - I answer and he gets curious. - Mason asked me to prepare everyone for extreme situations, he thinks things outside the dome can get worse. - complete and Tucker looks at me.
- I understand, but I thought this would have something to do with Hunter's sister, after all we will have to escort the doctor specializing in cases like hers from the entrance of the city to here. - he says and I sigh.
I still don't like this idea of Mason and the other superiors calling and having a doctor move around in the midst of this madness just to treat Dominic, not that I'm not glad there's a chance for her to get her memory back faster, but choosing my team to escort the doctor who will be dropped off by a helicopter at the entrance of the city in seven days seems very risky to me.
The truth is that I'm finding this all very strange.
Maybe it's a flaw, but I'm very suspicious about everything.
And perhaps unconditional loyalty is my greatest virtue.
- Good morning sis, Mason asked you to go to his room. - says Mad entering the simulation room.
- Did he tell you anything about it? - I ask and she denies it.
- No, I just said that your presence as soon as possible is important. - Answers and Tucker laughs at something. - Massacre your team before the zombies, what a mean little sister. - Mad jokes and I roll my eyes.
- Once again Tucker. - I say to the brunette who nods excitedly. - Haile, you're inattentive, use what's around you, remember that bullets aren't infinite, you have to learn to make do with what's around you. - complete releasing the voice detection button and eye to Mad.
- You really are massacring everyone. - she says and I sigh. - What's it ? - she asks and I look at Jack and Tucker.
- You two are next, I want the recording of each simulation made by each member of the team, I'll talk to Mason and then I'll return to do my simulation.- I say and they both nod. - Answering your question, it's okay, I just want to make sure that no one comes back here injured or doesn't even come back from a mission. I say and she gives me a suspicious look.
- Does this have to do with the mission of escorting the doctor who can help Dominic? She asks suggestively and I roll my eyes.
- No, I'm just worried about everyone's safety Madson. - I answer as simply as I can.
And Mason calling me that suddenly makes me worried.
I hope it's no big deal.
- She asked for you. - Mad says and I open the door.
- Okay, wish her well for me when you see her. - I say walking through the door, not giving her a chance to start with the theories she's been creating to annoy me in these two weeks that have passed since Hunter's sister arrived.
I sigh walking towards the main wing where access is restricted, only I can walk around here without permission. On the way as I cross the patio I see Hunter and Dominic playing with the dog, I notice that she looks good and comfortable in the presence of her brother and that makes me happy, I divert my attention from them and go on my way being greeted by several people.
It reminds me of the day everything changed.
I was pretty relaxed living on my Texas farm isolated from everything and everyone socializing only when necessary. But thanks to those damn zombies everything changed, I confess I was a little bored with that too quiet life, but at least the world was still the same.
People could still walk normally on the street without being attacked and eaten.
Not to mention that I miss sitting in a bar in Texas and having several shots of tequila while listening to terrible singers at karaoke.
I stop in front of Mason's office door and then I give two soft knocks and wait for it to open, it's to my surprise it's not Mason who opens it, but the Ohio state minister.
- Good afternoon General. - says the minister giving space for me to enter.
- Minister, to what do I owe the honor? - I ask greeting him and he smiles.
- General Hastings, the minister insisted on coming personally to talk to you about the mission that we had already talked about these days. says Mason and the minister nods.
- It's true, I'm here to talk to you about what this mission means. - says the man with the fresh beard.
- And what would be ? - I ask curiously.
- As you know, all the domes throughout the country detect various radio signals with requests for help. - he answers and I nod. - Well, our job initially was to guarantee the survival of the people we managed to bring to the summit, but recently we asked ourselves, can't we do much more than that? - He asks and I don't say anything, so he continues. - All the heads of state in the country participated in a conference with the president to decide what could be done, so as this division has the best team currently, we decided to do a test mission with you that will benefit everyone. - complete.
- The mission to escort Doctor Campbell will be a test where we will know if we are able to rescue people and move safely in the midst of this plague of zombies. says Mason.
- If it's a success, what happens next? I ask and the minister and Mason smile.
- All domes will be evacuated and people transferred to the dome being built in Washington. - replies the minister.
- Don't you think this is an absurd idea and without any guarantee of security? - I question not liking this at all.
- General, don't worry about it, we've thought of everything, this unexpected appearance of General Harris happened at a good time, because our main idea was to form two teams of twelve members merging the four best teams of special missions in the country. - he responds, surprising me. -Interestingly, the Washington team that was led by Miss Harris was chosen to merge with hers, with that the two will be the leaders of the new team, so they will have to work together. - completes leaving me even more surprised.
- Now I understand the sudden rush and mission to escort a doctor to treat Dominic. - I say understanding everything.
So it was never about doing something nice for Dominic.
Their only intention was to recover a good soldier to supply their needs and accomplish their goals.
This is worthy of the army, it even reminds me why I decided to leave.
That old conflict between reason and emotion.
- I hope you don't oppose evolution in the midst of this chaos, because it would be a shame to lose someone like you. - says the minister and I notice something in his tone of voice that I don't like.
- General, despite not being the safest idea and without any loopholes for errors, this is a great chance to give more security and better quality of life to the people we save, not to mention that by joining all people it would be easier to protect them while we look for a way to get rid of these damn zombies for good.
- I think this plan is the same as turning people into canned food for zombies. - I say finding all this absurd.
- If you don't agree, we'll give this mission to someone else. - says the minister and I look at Mason who lowers his head.
- Okay, I agree, my team and I will do whatever it takes. - I say and the minister smiles.
-Okay, Mason will pass the rest of the information to you later, now he can leave. - he says and I nod.
I nod at them both and walk away trying to swallow my irritation like it's saliva. I'm not at all in agreement with this idea, but I won't run away from my responsibility, even though I think it's crazy I'll be there to do whatever it takes to help everyone if this plan goes down the drain.

Pov. Dominic
Two weeks here and I'm almost adapting to this place, not to mention I've been getting really close to Hunter and Madson. The two always visit me and talk to me, they have already introduced me to the entire dome and today they will take me to the room where I will stay indefinitely. Hunter said it would be close to his and that anything I could talk to him or Madson, from what I understand I'll be staying in the soldiers' wing.
I wonder if that woman is there too.
After all, she has an important pose.
- Ready to go sister-in-law? - Madson says entering the room and I nod.
- Yes, but where is Hunter? - I ask when I don't see him go through the open door.
-He is being tortured by my masochistic sister. - she replies, making me smile.
- So she likes a violent grip? - I ask and she looks at me. -Like, she throws me on the wall and calls me a gecko? - I joke and she laughs.
-It's more like "I throw you on the bed and give you a banana, what do you do?"- She says making quotes.
- I do a somersault and catch you from behind. - I joke making her laugh out loud.
- Dude, I really love you, you and everything Kira needs in her life, someone with humor. She says and I make a face.
- I don't understand what you mean by that, but I'll just ignore it, get my dog and get out of this ward. - I say and she smiles.
Madson is pretty crazy, but it's really cool, we've been talking a lot in the almost three weeks I've been here, she talks a lot about everything and especially about her sister, I just listen carefully, I think the love and admiration she has for her is great. sister. It reminds me of Hunter, he seems to feel the same way towards me, we both got really close in a short time and I can say I trust him, not as much as I should, but he is gaining ground, at least friends already are. He's been showing me pictures of our parents who I found out had already died, he didn't give details of their death, he just said it's been a while, he also showed me pictures of when we enlisted together and some screenshots of us talking over video call .
It's very strange to see these things and feel like they were real, but not be able to remember them.
Not to mention my mind is a mess.
Not even a pigsty beats me.
I've been having that same dream, with that voice, that doctor that I can't see his face and then I see myself being thrown into that pile of bodies and then I wake up feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack at any moment. I don't know what these dreams are, but I don't feel comfortable and confident enough to talk to Hunter or Madson about them, so I'd rather keep them to myself.
- What do you think so much, little princess of amnesia ? - Madson asks as we leave the infirmary.
- Nothing specific, I'm just happy to finally get out of that ward. - I answer when we pass through the front door.
- I understand, it must have been pretty boring staying there, but now you'll be able to walk through almost the entire dome, so enjoy it. - she says and I nod.
- Why almost the entire dome ? - I ask curiously.
- Because here is the restricted wing, only people with high ranks or authorization from the head of our division can walk freely through it. - she answers and I nod.
- Does your sister have access to this area ? I ask and she nods.
- Only Kira and Drake, an idiot that my sister has dated and who cheated on her with some odd sewer edge has access to the restricted wing. - she replies making me laugh.
- So your sister was dating this Drake guy? - I ask curiously.
After all, she hadn't mentioned it before.
Maybe because it was something personal to the sister.
- Yeah, they were together for almost three years, until she kind of took a vacation to go play sniffing cow dung in Texas. - responds amusedly. - She decided to walk away, since Mason didn't accept her leaving his position, losing such a promising girl was out of the question for him, so he pulled some strings so that she secretly took a long vacation. - he jokes and I nod understanding. - In her first year away, it was very difficult for her to adapt to having a normal life, but she managed and well, we had just returned from a mission and we were released to return to our families for a few days, I just have Kira, so I went to Texas, just like the rest of the people. - complete.
- I see, I was already dead at that time? - I joke and she denies it.
- No, you were serving our country in Russia, so Hunter went with me to Texas, our other companions too, we all missed Kira's bad mood. - she says laughing. - Turns out when we got there, Kira asked if Drake had also been released and when he learned that he had, decided to pay him a surprise visit on his birthday, so we had to travel back here, but the best part is that when we entered the apartment with cake, party balloons and all, the handsome guy was sleeping naked on the living room carpet with a blonde next to him. - complete and I make a face as we cross the patio.
- What the fuck. I say and she nods. - What did your sister do? - I ask curiously.
-She turned her back and walked away, but I, like a good sister, rubbed the cake in that ridiculous bastard's face and would have done more if her brother hadn't gotten in the way. - he answers making me laugh when imagining the scene. - After that he had the nerve to go to Kira's farm to ask for forgiveness and a chance, but I put him to run from there with a beautiful high powered rifle threatening to shoot him in the lower parts if he dared to approach mine sister again. - completes making me laugh even more.
- I would have shot him, at least grazed, just to scare. - I say and she laughs.
- I felt like it, the finger itched, but that could harm our team, so I held back, but someday I will take revenge. - she says and I nod.
- I have no doubts about that. - I say and she smiles.
Madson is really cool.
We'll be good friends.
