I'm currently on my beloved mount leading the 1700 Polish soldiers toward the camping location of the rebellion army. The spring rain is pouring down, which creates difficulties in using gunpowder weapons, which is the main reason why I order my soldiers to bring bows with them, even if most of them do not know how to use them. Some well-preserved gunpowder can be used for the cannons but I do not have enough to support an army of musketeers in this weather.
We have reached the area nearby the river. For the safety of my troops, I order soldiers to settle far from the water and on high ground so that when the flood comes, there should be no unwanted casualties.
We encounter several scouts of the rebellion, some are taken down immediately but some manage to run away back to their camp and inform their fellows. But ai do not care, a messenger has arrived from Kawasaki the Junior about their progress and their meeting with a strange dude, who might have some influence in the Roseryth Empire. However, I will put that matter out of my head to concentrate on what's important ahead.
- FIRE!
The cannons are fired, release their rages on the rebellions' camp. The cannonballs create some disorder but nothing impressive can be seen since, in rainy weather, it takes a long amount of time to reload between each shot. Never mind, I do not intend to bet on my cannons to win this battle. Compared to other countries in the region, our military technology can still be said a little worse. I look at the simple hand clock, it's around 8 am. The dam Kawasaki the junior built is finished at 6 pm last night and the rain starts at around 3 am this morning.
- So we still have to wait.
I order the troops to hold fire and switch to melee weapons, although some in my army are hunters I could not trust that my army can fire effectively with bows and arrows at the moment. Relying on melee weapons is the best option I can think of at the moment.
The Ruthians and Slyrians get out of their camps and start to gather under the rain and my cannonballs. Their cannons also fire back, breaking several of ours. The rebellion's infantrymen get in formations to advance toward our location. Due to what I'm seeing, there is no doubt that their number is superior to ours, which shows that they have done a significant amount of job in recruiting the past winter.
But will that matter? The ground shakes and small stones ring like bells. There is an uncomfortable sound appearing in the place, which makes both armies look in the direction where the sound comes from. A horde of water is coming, it is like a dragon that wants to destroy everything that might intervene in their paths.
What makes me feel delighted the most are the reactions of the enemies. Even from this distance, you can see the horror on their faces since their position is where the water heading toward. I signal my men, they take out the clothes that are covering our boats and prepare for sailing. We will try to rescue anyone possible in the opposite army. I've created fear while I was in Olumia, now I should create here, too but this time I'll show some mercy, I hope that'll make the Ruthians and Slyrians not to resist much when I take over their towns, villages and cities.
The enemies throw their weapons, ignoring the shouting of the commanders, and run away toward the high ground. Ironically, my vanguards have already been stationed there. I do not have to give the command, the vanguards save the running soldiers and then put them in chains right after. The water destroys the camp in an instant and takes hundreds of men or even thousands into its' body.
The whole riverside area is now covered in water and drowning men. My troops start to get on ships and sail, saving anyone possible.
There is nothing more that needs my attention so I come back to a temporary tent built by the camp followers and wait for a report. This is a decisive victory; nonetheless, I must utilize it as much as possible so that everything will work in my favor. Capturing an influenced noble on this occasion will be ideal, but I doubt there will be a survivor that meets my condition since the chance is critically low. But more than 2000 enemies will be killed here, for sure, and Ruthia and Slyria will have to open negotiations.
---------------
A couple is riding to their utmost toward the walls of a city. They're all dressed in black, and both have the figures of women. One seems to be a little younger than others. Behind them is a ground of riders under Lithuania flags pursuing the two female travelers. A female rider yells to her companion:
- We can make it, Christina, Warsaw is ahead.
But a rider from a pursuing group knock his bow and fire, the arrows hit the horse the female rider is riding and send her falling to the ground. The other female companion stops and shout:
- ALICIA.
- KEEP GOING, CHRISTINA! YOU MUST FULFILL YOUR MISSION.
But the girl named Christina cannot continue far, an arrow hits her horse and she falls to the ground too. Both girls are then tied up and the riders surround them, start discussing what to do. The most muscular man, who seems to be the boss is the first one who speaks:
- The Duke says we can do whatever we want with them as long as we can get the key back safely. Just find it while I taste them, then we'll just kill them and leave before anyone notices.
- But it's not fair, boss. Those girls are nobles, we want to taste them, too.
When they're still quarreling, a sound of a gunshot can be heard, which results in a hole in the rider's boss. The other panic when seeing cavalries charging against them, seeing their uniforms, they know that they have encountered Polish patrols. The riders mount their horses and try to get out of the place, the tension between Lithuania and Poland has become high since the former decided to go surrender to the Roseryth Empire, leaving Poland alone fighting a mighty opponent and the start of a chain of events that lead to the death of the previous Duke of Poland.
A Polish patrol gets off his horse and goes toward the girls to check them out. A girl uses a hidden blade to cut the ropes and then takes out an object with a golden sigil on it. Seeing the sigil, the patrol froze in shock and untie the other girl. He speaks:
- My ladies, please let us accompany you to the palace of Warsaw. The Duke is currently not present but Governor will surely be interested in this.
After being approved by the girls, the captain orders his comrades to prepare new horses, and together, they escort the girls to the Palace.
