Chapter 30 - Chapter 28 - The Dojo's Entertainment

Mito and I set off into our game of tag in full throttle. He has a more difficult time than he had before, and I've come close to touching him multiple times in the first few minutes.

I leap towards Mito, several meters in the air. He takes the opportunity to slip beneath me. Unfortunately for him, this is exactly what I expected. I turn my weight up and descend upon him faster than he's able to react to. I land foot first on his back and turn my weight down last second, so I don't crush him.

I bound off his back to a safe distance as he stumbles forward.

Mito: "You know, maybe training you was a mistake!"

Adachi: "Why are you acting like the game is over? Don't you have to come tag me now?"

Mito laughs, and we continue to play tag deep into the day. Our game extends to the whole Dojo courtyard, and it seems that we have more of an audience than before. Kina and Obo are standing outside alongside Shiki now.

Meanwhile, from Kina's point of view:

Those two are at it again. But honestly, how am I supposed to get anything done around here? I'm trying to study the Dodona seeds, but the ground keeps shaking and messing up my handwriting.

Obo: "Hey Kina, those two are really going at it, huh?"

Kina: "Indeed they are. Look at how many times I've messed up my writing because of them!"

Obo: "If you can't get anything done, we should go watch instead."

Kina: "Pah! And why would I want to do that? It's just a game of tag."

Obo: "If you come out and watch, you'll sing a different tune soon."

I reluctantly stand and throw my hands up in resignation. I follow Obo out into the yard, and immediately Adachi zooms past our faces. The wind almost causes a wardrobe malfunction, and I can't help but feel irked. These two meatheads cause nothing but trouble.

I look to where the two are chasing after each other so vigorously. Before I know it, I'm absorbed in watching their intricate movements. A game of tag can be this involved? It looks like a dance rather than a game.

I sit down and watch their practiced movements and can't help but become absorbed. The sun is setting now, but looking at Adachi and Mito in a battle of movement has made time irrelevant. I've been avoiding thinking about it until now, but Adachi looks a bit like he did back then...
