"HEY YOU! YOU THERE, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR'E DOING?" I shouted towards Tongue. "Go away, this doesn't concern you! You should be glad I'm doing you a favor!" Tongue foolishly replied. "If you kill her, then I will get blamed. That means this definitely concerns me, as all I wanted to do was live in peace." Suddenly the girl collapsed on herself. With a horrid grin, Tongue said "If you leave us alone, then I'll let you have a turn with her body!" This guy is more of a creep than I thought! Someone like him shouldn't have lived for so long but here he stood, with his blade likely poisoned. Damn me and my morals. Why couldn't I just let her die? She tried to kill me first. Oh well, I should first try to get out of this situation. "So do you agree or not?" he asked while a grin started to form on my face. "The answer to your question would be no." "Then it looks like you will have to die!"
He started to walk towards me, cautiously, for he wasn't sure if I was capable of combat. Sadly, I have no combat skills at all. Most I could do was trap beasts and do chemistry, but I wouldn't let him know that. I took a stance I had seen at a swordsman tournament before with a log that had seen better days. Tongue saw through this and arrogantly laughed "How do you plan on saving her if you don't even know how to fight? Anyone could tell that log won't last more than 3 hits." "Three hits are all I need to kick your ass!" As I started to charge at him, he pointed his blade at me and with one swift move he had stabbed me in my right shoulder. I was able to mitigate most of the damage by pushing the blade with my log. I say some unpleasant things as he prepared to hit my left one. He stabs and I cry out in pain "ARGH!" At this point I know his buddies would be here soon so I needed to find a way out. Unfortunately, I was unable to think for Tongue started to walk closer. "Looks like the rumors about you are completely wrong. I already knew that though as we were the ones who spread them. Now die" He thrusted his blade and *thunk*. I somehow blocked his thrust, but he simply pulled out his blade and prepared to slash down at me. I knew that if I tried to dodge, he would just hit me in the back and I was unable to lift the log to block this overhead attack. With some quick thinking, I did the only option that was viable. I tackled him. While he was down I sat on him, reached into his pack and pulled out my potion satchel. I grabbed whatever I could, broke the bottle, and stabbed his eyes. Before I could do more damage he pushed me off and rolled away. "YOU BASTARD, I'M GONNA ENJOY KILLING YOU!" I looked at the potion that I had wasted, and realized I screwed up. Of course it had to be the one that could bring back lost limbs. Why is my luck so bad? I knew I had some time as the potion only made the body regenerate faster and more efficiently. He stood to the side as his eyes started to regain vision. Of course, Tongue started to swing wildly to keep me from attacking him.
I looked around me and grabbed his pack and my potion satchel, with the girl to the right of me. I run, locking the girl's hand in my other shackle and drag her with me into the river. It looks like she was hit in the chest with an arrow. Good thing there weren't any rocks around, otherwise I would've injured her more. I get into the water and try to get the poison out of her system while we floated. I think I got most of it out but to be sure I need an antidote. Before I can give her one, I need to figure out which poison was used. In order to do that I try to lift her up but it hurts so bad that I drop her under the water. I lift my arm as I try to pull her up. When I finally do, her lips and nails are blue. I take my coat and wrap it around her. Bad idea, as she starts to sink again, so I quickly toss it. Turns out being a hero is a lot harder than what those stories that are told. In a last ditch effort, I pull her into my arms and try to warm her up with my body. There wasn't consent but I'm sure she would rather be alive than not get hugged by a stranger (and someone she tried to kill) to keep body warmth. Even then, I knew she would slap me when she awoke as that's what kind of girl I think she is. She probably won't even remember that her own guard betrayed her. There are to many things to think about so I just close my eyes and let the river carry us, swaying back and forth on the surface. The gentle bobbing and my body being exhausted, allowed me to fall asleep on the current to a new adventure. Or tragedy, who knows? That's not up to me to decide.
