Chapter 23 - Comfortable

"it's the best way to become friends!"

Daiyu had been taught from a young age that the only things you could as a demonic cultivator where oneself, ones techniques and ones possessions. And now she had gained a possession that also owned her!

With this beast she could easily be the strongest 2nd Rank cultivator in the sect and likely stronger than some Rank 3s, as a cultivator you cold never be too carful concerning ones allies and a familiar was a bout as safe as you could go

Bound by the very soul, neither could betray or harm each other. The idea of having both a new weapon against her peers as well as gaining a new friend could even make a psychopathic cultivator like Daiyu happy.

"Why do I have to pretend to be Your pet?" it asked her

"well, if another member of my sect were to find out I was in the possession of a Wild class beast that was not only clearly a mutant but could also think coherently despite having not reached the fifth class its likely a powerhouse would kill me in order to get to you" it was true, his existence itself contradicted many of the natural rules of nature and common sense "you should also refrain from displaying any use of hidden intent, just to be safe"

"Why!?" he looked unsurprisingly rather frustrated at her words

"Well not even mentioning the fact that you can use hidden intent at a level near surpassing most of the sect members aside from the elders… your intent is just…Weird. When you disappear, it seems to get harder to even remember your existence, no intent I have ever heard of can impact the memories of a cultivator!" even now she still couldn't understand how the hell that worked!

Nodding and thinking for a few seconds he seemed to agree to her argument "well at least we'll have one hell of a trump card"

Yawning Daiyu realized how tired she was, she hadn't really slept much since she had arrived and Bolin dragging her out of her tent while lighting it on fire hadn't helped, despite the fact that it was almost dawn she began to look around the makeshift bed that her and her soon to be familiar were sitting on for space

Sadly, it was rather cramped due to the sheer size of the beast… speaking of the beast "do you have a name?" she said turning her head once more towards him

He looked towards her and seeing how he was taking up most of the bed space, curled into a tighter space as to give her some room "….Keera…that was my name" he seemed rather sad as if remembering something

Laying next him she rapped herself up in the excess moss and began to fall asleep, if she wasn't tired to the point of collapse from the resent ordeal and cultivating, she would have likely never set foot on the bed out of pride

But even if it was below her, she wouldn't whine about it, because it was much better than the branches and bushes, she had slept in for the past few days

"Goodnight, Keera"

****

Daiyu woke up to find herself snuggled up under neath Keera's wings, using them as a blanket, normally if she had woken up to a man lying next to her, she would have killed him instantly, well not instantly as their would have been torture involved

But luckily for Keera she could tell that she was the one who had taken advantage of him, otherwise he would have gotten a rather rude awakening

Inspecting his wings properly for the first time she looked at their beautiful golden colour and couldn't help but stroke them, they looked as if they had been crafted out of golden shards of glass.

Slowly getting up as to not arouse the sleeping beast she made her way to the entrance of the burrow and peered out, it appeared to be around midday, but she knew that they had likely slept through the previous day, her gaze turned towards the field of flowers at the base of the tree, and she couldn't help but feel a mixture of fear and greed

"what's so special about my little garden, that you need to look at it like it's the crown jewels?" a hissing voice behind her asked, knowing it was…Keera… that was its name she didn't react and instead began to talk, whispering in an exited tone

"Purple mist orchids are considered to be the ninth most powerful poison in existence! They only bloom in the Death Lands and are potent enough to harm even a Rank 6 cultivator!" she felt Keera flinch behind her as he knows realized just how dangerous his "garden" was. "While I can't even touch them in my present state, without instantly dying, just knowing where they bloom is invaluable for my future"

"if you want to die quickly maybe" Keera countered sarcastically which was something Daiyu didn't know he even had the capacity

"no…" she said shaking her head "the cultivation technique I use is The Lady of Poison and Wrath technique, it combines the use of poison and negative emotions in order to strengthen the body and the stronger the poison the stronger the effect"

Keera seemed to have the equivalent of an expression of disgust and dislike on his mantis face when she referred to her technique, but she figured it was more based on hating cultivation than her technique judging from how he didn't react negatively to her using a demonic technique to rip out the cores of three teenagers

"but you cant yet handle that level of potency" he eventually responded giving me a nod

"yet" she returned his nod with a smile happy he understood

They lapsed into a comfortable silence before Keera turned to her and asked, "how long until the exit is open?"

"Two Days" she responded with a now serious expression
