Chereads / A Merchant in Trouble! / Chapter 7 - Ammon's first gimmick

Chapter 7 - Ammon's first gimmick

Since Bedo woke up in the middle of his hibernation, he hadn't stayed long until he went back into a store once again to continue his sleep. Stone titans hibernate long, but Bedo had to sleep more to recuperate. Yes, currently, Bedo had to recover his strength — it had something to do with the holy war way back. That was why he couldn't speak long sentences to save up his energy.

"Damn you for interrupting his sleep," I grumbled, tying up the freak with the rope he used to tie me down. He was still unconscious, so I kicked his feet out of irritation.

Standing up. I looked around at the mess inside my shop.

"What a piece of work." I ran my fingers through black hair, sighing as I could imagine how exhausting cleaning up would be. The windows that I used to cover Bedo's side boob and the door for his butt were all ruined. I pinched the space between my brows as my head throbbed.

This lunatic hit my head earlier and my shoulder, although the bleeding stopped, it still hurt. This was what I meant when I said I was too normal in this world. Not that I didn't know how to punch, but against magical items or anything this world offered, I was pathetic.

"I feel dizzy, but hell, I need to prepare for the big day!" I huffed, shaking my head as I snapped my eyes open. I didn't stay idle as I searched for the new batch of posters I collected earlier today. Of course, since I gave out flyers earlier, I needed more for tomorrow.

I didn't bother cleaning up first or repairing Bedo's undies, as there was more I could do than that. Why would I hassle myself in such a task when I could hire people to do that for me?

"Or maybe, I'll do it myself since I need to use my incoming wealth wisely." After getting my pen and the posters, I slumped down near the window to get some light from the moon. I rubbed my palms against each other, preparing myself to write my flyers for tomorrow.

As soon as I picked up the pen, I started penning down:

[ GREAT SALE OF THE MOST WANTED MAN IN PARKWIND!

There will be a public auction for the most wanted criminal in Parkwind at Bedo's Secret Shop... ]

"... tonight, at the Misty Forest."

I smirked as I listened to the person reading the advertisement I scattered in the plaza of Parkwind. After I wrote down everything that everyone would want to know, I posted it everywhere I could. In just two hours, people had started flocking to the main bulletin board, as I posted a lot there.

"Out of the way!"

I glanced at the group of muscular men pushing the crowd to the side to see the poster. My smirk spread, remembering these werewolves were hunting down that freak. I was aware of auctioning that lunatic was risky and dangerous because these werewolves could just snatch that man away. I wouldn't be able to do anything if they did, but I still pursued this path.

Why?

My eyes veered to the other group, who were clad in black cloaks as if they were a group of cult, approach the bulletin after hearing the news. The inferior citizens had to step aside for these two forces while I walked to a distance.

'That is the reason,' I spoke internally, turning around to see another groups approach the bulletin. Even from this distance, I could feel their powerful auras that could suffocate a normal person like me to death. Currently, they were now five groups around the bulletin: the werewolves, mages, orcs, fairies, and just a random group of people.

Before these people could snatch my precious item, they had to fight themselves first. After all, that lunatic had offended all these people and they would naturally want to get even. I don't care what they wanted to do with him, but as long as they pay a good price, they could have him.

"Good thing Bedo promised to only take a nap and wake up just in case trouble arose," I murmured, darting my eyes between the groups before me.

As each of the groups started pulling auras and spewed snide remarks, I chuckled and turned around to return to Misty Forest.

"I'll see you all tonight," I snickered, whistling a happy tune with my hands on my back. "I wonder how much money these people will shell out to get their hands on that freak."

I slowed down my pace, closing my eyes to relish the fresh air. I would retire early today since I had to sleep because I had a big night!

"Hah! I could smell fame and wealth already."

******

Thanks to my alarm clock, a.k.a. the one tied up near the counter, I woke up at dusk, hours before the auction begins. With my one eye open, I gazed at him. He was throwing a huge fit, screaming at the top of his lungs while trying to break free.

I clicked my tongue, rising from the floor I slept on while scratching the back of my head. It must be hard on him that the precious rope he used to tie his victims was now restraining his movements.

"Oy, can you fucking shut up?" I rested my arms on my bent knees, cocking my head in his direction. "No one will help you, man. You went up against the wrong person. I mean, you kill people so you should know this line of work is risky."

I reasoned out calmly, but the bastard wasn't listening. A sigh escaped my mouth as I pushed myself up, marching towards him and squatting down from a distance beyond his reach. Who knows what this lunatic had in mind, so I would rather not get close to him.

"Ughh!!! This is so annoying! So annoying! So annoying!" he repeated over and over like a kid throwing a tantrum. Watching this guy made me chuckle, shaking my head. For some reason, he stopped as I felt his gaze a second later.

When I lifted my head, I smacked my lips. "Man... if I'm not in dire need of money, I will dismember you myself. I can't believe this little boy trapped in a man's body made me look so pathetic."

"Tch! You're already pathetic. You're only lucky since these piles of rubble saved you!" my brow quirked up, staring at his aggravating, proud smirk. "Either way, you will regret this. You will die eventually because a weakling like you will not last."

"Well, at least, I will outlive you!" I shrugged, smiling brightly, as these words were nothing but empty noises. I was already aware and accepted that fact years ago.

"Just be thankful I wouldn't sell you piece by piece like meat in the market since my clients will want you alive." My smile remained before pushing myself up as I heard noises from outside my shop. "Just don't shit yourself later."

I turned around and trudged towards the door. I peaked my head outside, raising my brows while my lips stretched broader.

"Did the entire town come?" I wondered with a chuckle, seeing that a lot of people were starting to fill the forest clearing. "Well, public execution always sells as entertainment and this... is akin to one."
