CHAPTER 6
The next thing Tanya knew, she saw a trailer coming towards their direction and before Amelia could raise her head to call for help, she held onto Tanya's shoulder tight.
Taking that opportunity to be offended, Tanya pushed her hand away with so much force that caused Amelia to lose her balance and subsequently staggered so much but still lost her footing and fell backwards.
"Aaahhhh…"
SCRREEEECHHHH!
BANG!
Everything had happened suddenly especially for the trailer who was not expecting for someone to rush into the road at that moment and actually hit the lady before he could stop.
Quickly, Tanya took to her heels, escaping away from the scene as quickly as possible.
In no time blood had started to come out of her mouth the side of Amelia's head but before her eyes dropped close, she looked up at the sky and cried.
"You were not fair to me and took my home and husband from me. Even if I do not get a second chance and survive this, let this child," she managed to touch her stomach and when she felt the baby move, a small smile appeared on her face.
"Let this child not only live but if she is faced with such wickedness as I was, give her my second chance at life and let her live on for both of us. Take this as my request and last wish as payment for all you did to me."
"Call for an ambulance, quick!"
Soon everywhere became rowdy as people rushed to the scene to see how they could help. With the noise and commotion everywhere, Amelia smiled slowly.
With her promise being made, she knew she had nothing to lose and that her daughter would survive.
All that remained was for her to hold on till she got to the hospital and her baby left her body. With that, her eyes dropped close.
"No, no, no… Mum, don't go. Please, stay alive, pleaseeee…"
"Ahh!" She gasped and as her eyes flew open.
She was back or so she thought.
Looking around, Aria tried to ascertain where she was and understand what was going on.
The second her eyes caught sight of the hospital machine at her side and the drip connected to her hand, she heaved a sigh of relief as she used her free hand to clutch at her chest.
It took her a few minutes but each time she breathed, she kept on gasping and after a while, her breathing stabilized and she shut her eyes.
Once breathing was no longer her problem nor her fast-beating heart, she recalled her dream and then tears began to pool in her eyes and before she knew it, they flowed out helplessly.
He did not know why she had that dream, it was not something she had ever had in all her life but now she did in another person's body.
'It is of the mind and not of the body,' she concluded in her head. 'But then, why did she have to suffer that way?'
She could not put her mind to it. She felt her mother was a mistress to her father and that was why Tanya and her daughter treated her the way they did but now from the dream she had and from the last wish her mother made, she realized that there was more to it.
They told her all these years that's he was the one who killed her mother when she was being born and since then she took that guilt with her but low and behold, it was her stepmother who had committed such an atrocious act and left her mother there to die with her in the womb.
"Her wickedness knew no bounds. She wanted me and my mother dead and gone from her life forever and that was why she did what she did but why didn't my father ever seek the truth? Why? Did mother mean so little to him?"
She sniffed, drawing her nose alongside and turning around as she adjusted herself on the bed, with the covers clutched close to her chest.
"It isn't fair but I see that life did honour mother's wish and gave me a second chance at life. I would not waste it but I must make them all pay. I would accept this new identity as Jade Jordan and survive. I would live on for both of us mum and make them pay."
***
Seated in her big master's bed in her wonderfully decorated and big room, Jade lowered her head, not ready to speak with either of the two persons in her room.
Ever since waking up, she had not bothered to be close or very accommodating of her new parents.
Just from the start she already knew that there were issues in the family and she had to start living with it but she never said she was going to accept it.
"Jade, it's been a week since you left the hospital. I believe soon we have no choice but to allow your visitors to see you. It is for your own good."
"Yes, your mother is right."
"But the doctor said not to overwhelm me," Jade stated, looking up and meeting the worried, yet concerned gaze of her parents.
"I know what he said but he also said that we should introduce them to you one after the other and that being said, there is something we must tell you."
"Isn't all these too much?" She blinked and gave her father her best, secretly practised doll cute baby face.
She had quickly grown into her new role as it was her new life and for a second there it almost worked. He was already falling for his daughter's schemes when his wife pinched him.
"Ah, yes. Umm, Jade, it is for your own good. Besides we cannot delay this any longer."
"Fine." She sighed, accepting that with her mother there, some of her easy access techniques wouldn't work on her father. "What is it? I am all ears."
