Chapter 3 - June you are alive

"So.... what just happened?" Griffin asked with a sigh. His question was answered with groans, sighs and scoffs. All four of them were thrown into this underground dungeon in individual cells with their legs and arms bound in long silver chains that clinched away together.

"These are some fancy chains," Lux chuckled while studying the long silver chains with thick cuffs locked to her arms. There were engraving and strange letters densely written all around the cuffs and on the chains. Her eyes twinkled with fascination, touching and playing with the chains. Lux was lying on the small wooden bench, her head resting on one end and her legs propped on the other. The previous serious and overbearing personality was nowhere in sight.

"I don't know how this happened, but when I was about to enter the party hall it was like the door was shifting away from me, the more I ran the further it went so I thought maybe it was because of a hallucinogenic. And when I did get inside the door... it was as you know." Lux said slowly, her voice ringing quietly in the dungeon that was filled with a burnt crispy smell. Apparently, the dungeon cell had been so filthy that Lux had incinerated everything from the slimy floor that smelled like rotten flesh and the damp walls with vines crawling over them.

Bolt on the other hand was not as fortunate, the stench stinging his eyes red. Bolt had quite dejectedly torn his handkerchief and stuffed his nose with the clothe pieces.

"I was dragging the trolley from the kitchen when I was suddenly ambushed, I didn't reach the target location either," Bolt sighed while yanking the black bow tie from around his neck. He was leaning upside down on the bench, with his legs propped up on the wall.

"I was in the basement with June, we didn't even reach the location where the bomb was supposed to be. There was a small earthquake and then I was dropped in a garden. Now that I think about it, it wasn't exactly an earthquake because I didn't feel the tectonic plates shifting," Griffin said with a sigh, he ran his hands through his hair and the wooden bench under his hand splintered from his clenching.

We all are here except for June. And Alpin had faced something that triggered his cold. He must have had a deviation while using his ability.

Silence fell over the dungeon as they decided into their own thoughts.

"You know Bolt, they were definitely mages, the ones dress in robes who made that fire ring," Lux said excitedly, turning her head to look at the cell opposite her's. In the opposite cell, Bolt tilted his head too.

"And that man with the sword, I bet he was at least a swordmaster, he could aura! And it was dual coloured!"

"I know right, and it was so cool when he slashed Griffin's mud wall with a single slash. Gosh, I want to see it again!!" Lux giggled and sat up straight, her hands moving around in excitement.

Griffin scowled at the word 'mud wall'.

"Oh oh and that prince you were stepping on!"

"Yes, I definitely saw it! His ears were pointy and his complexion was dark. A dark elven prince!"

Their yells and excited shouts were getting increasingly louder and a blue vein throbbed on Griffin's neck. They were acting like a bunch of kids on a school picnic.

"Hey aren't dark elves supposed to be necromancers and stigmatised. They were almost extinct in 'The Lore Of The Setting Sun'." Bolt said.

"But in 'Trash of the Count's family' they were living in an underground city and were quite large in number. Also, they were given an equal-"

"Shut up, both of you! Griffin yelled and struck his fist on the bench with a loud bang. The feeble bench instantly smashed in pieces and Griffin fell down on his butt, teeth grinding so hard that they were about to be turned into powder.

There was a couple of moments of silence after his outburst.

...

...

"So as I was saying, they were given an equal status later. Hey Bolt! What if we are able to use mana too!" Lux yelled again, staring at Bolt with wide eyes that were filled with excitement.

"Let's go catch a mage! What if we really are in a fantasy world. I want to start a mercenary guild!"

"I want to open a secret information guild too! Oh, wait I can be a merchant class or a hunter. Then we-"

"How about we first think about where we are and how to get out of here you @$#%" A voice rang out in their ear and Bolt and Lux winced together.

"He really has the dirtiest mouth," Lux whispered.

"Even after he had half his salary cut by the director because of this," Bolt whispered back and they both nodded in agreement.

"I can hear you, you little shits." The voice growled.

"June you are alive."

"June you are not dead."

They both spoke at the same time.

"Of course I am you dimwitts." They can almost hear June rolling his eyes sarcastically. June has always been and will always be the little hedgehog of the team. Everyone avoided talking to him in the headquarters. His month-end complaints stack tighter than his achievements.

"Where are you June?" Griffian asked calmly, the previous anger evaporating in a puff.

The voice that was ringing only in their ears without earpieces sighed, "out obviously."

"Did you gather any intel, where are we?" A deep voice sounded, soft and husky at the same time.

"Alpin you are awake!" Lux spoke.

"We are in a continent named Silverspire and the country Reaghan, located in the southwest corner," June answered Aplin's question, blatantly ignoring Lux.

"So we are not on earth?" Alpin said.

"Are we really in a fantasy world?" Lux said.

"That is all you could gather in the 6 hours we were rotting here?" Bolt said.

They spoke together, one after the other. Griffin clenched his jaw and took a deep breath before speaking. "June, get us out of here with the least commotion."

"I was working on just that," June replied and the next second loud noises filled the quiet dungeon.
