"Remind me why we`re going out today?" Jia asked as Fiona locked their door behind them.
"Because we are going to celebrate Girls Day, "Rose answered as she took out a red sunglass and put it on.
Kyra and Jia exchanged confused glances as Clary asked, "Girls Day? Did you just make that up?"
Rose sniffed," Well of course I did but come on! We need some girls' time away from school."
The girls turned to see Zoey giggling at her phone before Kyra snatched her phone away. Zoey pouted as Rose folded her arms," And no boys."
"No fair, if you`re taking away my phone then at least take away Clary`s camera. "Zoey whined.
Clary put a hand on her hip," My camera is not a distraction. It`s for making memories."
"And for her next video for her MagiTube Channel," Jia added, she then clasped her hands with a sigh," Girls day out with Clary. I can already see it bright red silver colors."
"Exactly but I was thinking more neon red," Clary confirmed. Jia tiled her head thoughtfully, trying to image the opening sequence.
Zoey`s face dropped as they all walked out of the Dorm. Jia waved at a couple of girls at the front of the stairs as Rose began outlining their plans for the afternoon. For once, everyone was too tired to object to her, even Fiona. Jia felt her phone vibrate and reached into her pocket and pulled it out. The caller ID read "Chase." The first time he called her, she had spent nearly half an hour interrogating him on who he was and how he got her number. Finally, he relented and said that he had asked Cole who had got it from Zoey.
He was checking up on her since she and Roy weren`t speaking to each other at the moment. He said he was doing it for his peace of mind but she knew it was most likely to check up on her for Roy`s sake.
She ignored his call but she did send a message to tell him that she was going to the Butterfly Sanctuary with the girls to have a day off. She would be fine.
Chase texted back and said," Alright. Have fun and take care."
When the six sorceress boarded the bus that would be taking them to the sanctuary, she sat next to Kyra but was facing Rose and Clary. Rose was clicking away on her PA, trying to confirm their tour guide and lunch plans. Clary was holding her camera and filming Fiona and Zoey playing Scramble on Fiona`s tablet on the seat across form them.
"When did you last talk to Roy?" Kyra asked softly.
"On that day. I feel awful for snapping at him, but I just couldn`t help it," Jia answered, her face showing her misery, "We never fought this long before. I feel so down."
Kyra placed a hand on her friend`s shoulder, "He was just worried about you."
"I know but he needs to relax and not just him, my whole family needs to relax. I`m fine, nothing is going to happen to me," Jia fumed.
When they girls got to the Butterfly Sanctuary, their tour guide stood at the entrance waiting for them. A nice lady that was dressed in the Sanctuary's silver uniform and a pair of study boots. Her long purple hair was braided and she greeted the girl with a bright smile. They were then led to the first Tower where the Blue winged Queens had made their home. The tour guided let them explore while she left to find out the progress of the girls' lunch.
"How is it that we can afford a tour guide?" Clary whispered to Kyra.
"Mum and dad were only too happy to sponsor us, "Rose filled them in.
"You told your parents about us going out today?"
Rose nodded," Yep. It kind of surprised them at first."
Clary lowered her camera, "How come?"
"I never had genuine friends that I wanted to take out so they hesitated until I convinced them you girls were legit."
"How`d you pull that off?"
"I told them random facts about you guys and they relented because obviously if I paid enough attention to my friends that that means I cared enough to."
Jia blinked as Fiona smiled, "Wow, that was really nice Rose."
"What was my random fact?" Clary demanded.
"Huh?"
Clary switched off her camera and put it in her camera bag, "You know? The random stuff about me."
Rose arched a brow at her teammate, "Are you sure you want to know what I said?"
"Yeah, tell me tell me!" Clary insisted.
"Your fingers can`t stay still even when you're in class and you`re obsessed with Sour Candy."
All four other girls scrunched up their faces as Clary nodded thoughtfully at Rose.
"Sour Candy? Really Clary?" Zoey asked with disbelief.
"What? It`s delicious," Clary insisted.
Fiona shook her head with a grimaced, "The first word already implies that it isn`t."
"Everyone has their preferences. "
Jia then turned to Kyra, "So what`s up with you and Mike?"
Kyra looked slightly shocked and her cheeks turned slightly pink, "Umm, nothing yet," Kyra slowly mumbled.
"Who`s Mike?" Rose asked.
"The boy she`s crushing on. He`s one of Roy`s friends."
The other girls exchanged excited smiles as Kyra turned away from her friends and tried to walk head. She didn`t get far as Fiona grabbed her and pulled her back to the group.
"Man, first Zoey and now Kyra, your cousin's friends must be really hot," Clary remarked with a giggle. Rose folded her arms and grinned as the others playfully teased Kyra.
Jia shook her head with a chuckle," You have no idea. Cole`s the hot ex-player, Mike is the sweet gentleman, Chase is kind of the cute nerd, Dylan and Tristan are the resident bad bays and Roy is just…. Roy."
"He`s sweet, charming and a racer," Fiona filled in. Jia turned to shoot her bemused smile as Fiona shrugged," You're not going to compliment him the way a normal girl would because your family so I thought I`d take over."
Jia playfully nudged her friend, "You trying to tell to me something?"
"Either way Clary, they are all equally gorgeous," Kyra added as her face went extra red.
"Must be quite a sight then," Rose commented.
"Look at you," Clary exclaimed with a giddy smile as she reached across to poke her roommate`s cheeks," Blushing over a guy. This Mike must have you really wound-up."
"Alright fine…. I`ve had a crush on him since last year," Kyra admitted shyly.
"Last year?"
"I have two older brothers at the Academy. I usually see him on Family weekends with his family last year. "
They girls all 'awwed' at their friend and laughed as Kyra turned and led them away. They were only a few steps away from the leaving the Tower when a huge fire ball slammed into the Tower and onto their path.
The impact sent the six teenagers flying back in different directions and onto their backs.
Jia, having landed a few meters away, blinked and waited for the ringing in her ears to stop. She groaned and pushed herself up and touched the back of her head. She was sure that she was bleeding from her head and would have been bruised in several other places. Her clothes looked singed.
An alarm went off inside the Sanctuary and she swung around back and forth as she looked around for her friends. She was about to stand when she heard a scream and several roars. With a gasp, she saw numerous Phantom Leopards and several Wildebeests coming into the sanctuary. Screams from several parts of the Sanctuary were heard. She quickly scrambled onto her feet and ran.
"They can`t be that far," Jia reasoned as she began to half stumble and half run to her left, away from the creatures. She was just nearing a clearing when another explosion shook the Sanctuary, she looked up and watched with horror as the glass roof of the Sanctuary shattered and pieces rained down.
Without hesitation, she threw up her shield and waited till the pieces stopped raining down on her. It didn`t take long for the smoke to clear up from the place. When she lowered her shield, a bright violet light shone as someone landed in front of her. She blinked as her eyes adjusted to the bright setting. When the light cleared, a mirror image of herself stood in front of her. Except she was dressed in blood red armor that almost mocked her mother`s armor. She eyes were red and her skin looked dull, like she hadn`t seen the sun in weeks.
She gritted her teeth, "What in the-?!That`s my mother armor!"
Her copy tilted her head and spoke in a raspy harsh voice, "So it is you. The last of the Honor Guard. I wasn`t sure if my form was accurate."
"Who are you?! Why are you attacking the Sanctuary?! And why do you look like me?!"
"I merely wanted to kill when you were far away, "The copy replied as her hands began to glow.'" And now I can."
