Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Meeting a Wannabe God

Suzaku and Anji were walking around in the light of dusk, enjoying the slight chill in the air while they both had a candy bar to eat. Anji looked at his brother, wanting to say something. "So bro..I think I should use my native Mazoku name from now on. Don't get me wrong, I love the name my dad gave me, but I think it's time I made my own identity, like everyone else you know?" he asked. Suzaku smiled and hugged his big brother, happy that he was able to come to that conclusion on his own. Harris looked from afar, smiling as well and cleaning up the dishes. He then got visited by a Mazoku wendigo girl who looked like she was going to cry. Her entire body looked like it was blanketed by snow. "Excuse me mister, my mommy and daddy. They're in trouble and I don't know what to do. Please save them, they're gonna get hurt." she yelled out, clearly hurting. Harris rubbed the girl's head, reassuring her that her parents would be saved. Suzaku and Anji walked inside and saw the little girl. "Dad, what happened to her? Is she alright?" Anji asked. Harris told them about the girl's parents, and they both decided to take the case on and help her out. As they got dressed, the girl was waiting for them both, her tears crystallizing into ice crystals that floated to the floor and then melted. Harris gave her a stuffed animal to play with, a baby deer plushy. She seemed to like it. Suzaku and Anji came out fully dressed in their hero outfits, and went with the little girl to the Mazoku Lands to look for clues. She pointed to footprints that seemingly stopped out of nowhere. Wendigo were able to fly by literally walking on the air and controlling weather patterns to cause frost and snow. However there was no trace of their spiritual energy trail in the air or the ground, which was strange since they couldn't shift dimensions or anything. Anji looked around the area, but found no trace of any hair, struggle, or anything of the sort.

Suzaku asked around to see if anyone had seen them or heard anything suspicious. A shark Mazoku told him that he heard someone yelling about a god and how they were sacrifices for them. It sounded ominous and very dangerous. Then a small bat Mazoku told them that he saw strange monsters taking them into a sort of dimensional space, and he was threatened not to say anything. Suzaku held the small bat and kept him safe just in case he was being watched or followed. Anji opened a temporary hole in space and went into a void, and the wendigo girl followed them despite her fear. They both went into some sort of nightmare world, eyes and disembodied mouths all over the place. The atmosphere felt thick and hard to breathe and the dark red sky only added to it. Suzaku looked around for the girl's parents, but it was hard to see with the eyes in the way, so he ran forward and cleared the way of eyes. Anji picked up the girl and kept her close while running close to him. "This stuff is disgusting, how did anyone ever think of this?" Suzaku asked himself, eventually finding two large wendigos unconscious on the ground. A lava beast guarded them, keeping anyone from taking them anywhere. "Dammit, get out of the way ya molten mess. Don't make me turn you into a rock." Anji threatened it, but it didn't move away from them. The little girl ran over to her parents, not caring about the risk of the lava beast, and freezing it's face so it can't move. Then a massive pair of eyes looked at all of them, like large golden orbs. "You...dare take my meal....and you dare show your face to me with fear in your eyes?" the massive being said. It's aura was almost entirely suffocating and it's voice was deep. There was no way to see its body, but it was assumed to be gigantic. Suzaku and Anji were shivering in fear, unable to speak or move a muscle. All they could do was think to get away from it.

The being kept looking at them, anger filling it's eyes at their fear growing. Suzaku mustered the courage to grab the Wendigo family, open a portal, take Anji and the bat, and run far from it. The being readied a blast of fire from it's mouth, but before it made it hit the group escaped and go back to the Mazoku Land. Anji was panting heavily like he was finally able to breathe freely, and could barely stand up. Harris finally met up with them, seeing that they went through an unknown trauma. Suzaku hugged his father and started crying along with Anji. Harris hugged his boys, letting them know they were okay, and that it was over. They told him about what they saw, and how the being seemed like it was some sort of near divine monster like Ishtar's Bull of Heaven or Typhon. It was strange that something like that would be in a sort of nightmare dimension for some unknown reason. They went home, and tried to sleep, but it was difficult and Suzaku ended up staying awake all night long, and barely had any energy to even get out of bed. Isobu and Ray went over to visit, and when they saw them in the state they were in, they both used a sleep charm to put them in a deep sleep for the day, not dreaming of the beast, but of fun school days and how they practiced surfing.

After another day of sleeping, Anji went to the Mazoku Land to change his name to Kalgad Taylor, which turned his fur to a light pink, and to gain demonic wings near his hips that morphed into a tattoo that wrapped around his legs. He also learned about the being he met from Cabal. He explained that it was his brother sent into another dimension for his betrayal to his people and humans. He was cast into another dimension for eternity, but he was able to use his aura to corrupt people and make himself more powerful. Since only a god could match another god, he was going to become a god in order to finally take vengeance. Kalgad was shocked to find out that the monsters who were attacking everyone, and that he was gaining power and fast. He teleported back home, and told everyone the news that Cabal's brother was gaining power to take revenge on everyone. They all knew that this was a top priority, because if he gains godhood, no one would be safe.
