Point-of-View: X

"Wh-what are you people trying to do to me!?" Exclaimed the smelly, fat guy in fear and alarm, as Trevor reminded Ash of why he'd brought him here.
Hm, I suppose that, at the very least, this guy deserves to know what's about to happen to him. Knowing won't make a difference, I was told about the whole Condition thing before it was inflicted on me.
"Oh, nothing much, he's just going to make it so that you can't betray Eden, at least not without dying, uh...wait, what's your name again?"
"H-huh? Oh, er, it's Osian Davies-...wait, no, who cares about that, what the fuck is Eden!? The hell do you mean 'make is so that...'!? You had better untie me and let me go, you bitch...let me go, or I'll-!" He began furiously.
"Okay, got it," Suddenly yawned Ash as Trevor finished reminding him, before letting out a sigh as he sat down on the floor in front of Osian.
"The hell are you looking at, huh!?" Snapped Osian, struggling to break free, "Damn it, why ain't my superpowers working!?"
"Hey, don't forget-...," I began to say to Trevor.
"Trevor...," Muttered Ash, before continuing, "It's not working."
"Huh? What do you mean-...ohh, right, we can't nullify this guy's powers without also nullifying Ash's powers. Damn it, what do we-?" Trevor began with a frown.
"Hey! As I was about to say, don't forget to wait till I adjust the range of my power, I'll shrink it down so that only the target is within its field of effect," I remarked with a sigh.
"Oh...right, yeah. Let me know as soon as you're done," He replied, averting his gaze awkwardly...hehe, he's totally embarrassed by his oversight.
"M'kay, I'm done," I informed him, as I sat down behind Osian.
"Good. Try it again now, Ash," Instructed Trevor.
"Yeah, okay...," He mumbled in response, before fixing his gaze on Osian.
Great, now I suppose I can't move until he's done. Maybe I should have sat down a bit further away, it's no exaggeration when I say that this guy absolutely reeks.
"Damn it, what the hell is going on!? Stop staring at me, you shit! I swear, I'll tear you apart! You hear me!?" Yelled Osian angrily, but it was no use, he wasn't breaking free anytime soon.
"So loud...please be quiet, this'll take longer if I can't concentrate," Sighed Ash in response.
"Excuse me!? Why in the fuck should I listen to you, huh!?" He snapped indignantly, his face turning red with anger.
"Hey, that's enough out of you. Keep quiet or else...," Threatened Trevor, forming a ball of lightning in his palm.
"Damn you...!" He growled, but he was definitely scared, and backed down and kept quiet after that threat.
"Hey, shouldn't we tell him about Eden and Meta-Humans? I mean, if he knows nothing, then the Condition won't be that effective, will it?" I pointed out.
"Oh, that's a good point. Hey, you, listen up. Pay attention, because I won't repeat myself...we're an organization known as Eden, and...," Trevor began explaining right away, forming a fireball to keep Osian from lashing out.
Once Trevor concluded his explanation, Ash began placing the Condition on Osian. And in no time, five minutes passed. It was done, this sleazy bastard could no longer defy Eden.
"Okay, I'm finished," Sighed Ash, standing up with slight grunt.
"Alright, then, let's test it out," Responded Trevor, before firing out a small ember of flames at the rope, scorching through it.
"I'll fucking kill you-...!" He began as he finally tore free of the ropes, before abruptly freezing with a look of terror on his face.
"I literally just explained what we did to you, but go on, feel free to disregard my warnings," Sighed Trevor with a shake of his head.
Osian looked pale, sweat pouring down his face as he experienced the effects of the Condition. That's a feeling I'm quite familiar with, it kicks in whenever the victim is about to break a term of the Condition placed on them. Very unpleasant, and it's hard to explain, but if you try to resist it, you can just tell that you'll die.
And yeah, when I think about it, logically speaking, it could just be an illusion or something, but it feels so bone-chillingly terrifying that I'm not willing to take the risk. Huh, maybe I can convince this guy sometime to take the risk, to confirm it.
"D-damn it...wh-what the hell was that...?" Groaned Osian with a frown.
Guess I can deactivate my Nullification now...if he tries anything, I can immediately activate it again in an instant.
"You kidding me? I literally just-...well, whatever, let's go repeat the dose with the other Outlier, shall we?" Sighed Trevor, as he knocked Osian out with a streak of lightning.
"Ugh, did you have to do that, it made the smell so much worse," I gagged in disgust.
"Tch, shut up. But, yes, I regret it now, his stench is seriously foul," He replied in agreement, scrunching up his nose as we left the cell and shut the door, twisting the handle to lock it back up again.
"Hey, can you take me back home now?" Asked Ash with a drowsy yawn.
Grr, this guy really grinds my gears.
"What? No, we need you to place a Condition on one more," Responded Trevor with a look of exasperation.
"Oh...okay," He replied absent-mindedly, before staring at the wall blankly.
"How the hell did this guy become a Category 0?" I inquired in bewilderment.
"I know he doesn't seem like it, but in a one-on-one fight, he's easily the strongest Meta-Human in Eden," Answered Trevor, looking kinda salty.
Seriously? There's no freaking way.
"Huh...could I defeat him if I used my Nullification?"
"Don't underestimate him, he's got incredible reflexes and agility, though with your Nullification, you'd probably stand a better chance against him that anyone else," He responded with a shrug, as he unlocked the door to Miraliz's cell and pushed it open.
I felt a sense of reluctance as I stepped into the cell, but I ignored it and activated my Nullification.
"Um, wh-what's going on?" Stuttered Miraliz nervously, her voice trembling.
"Guess I gotta explain everything all over again. Alright, listen up, little girl...pay attention, because I won't repeat myself. Also, try to escape or something and I'll break your legs. Now, then, pay attention...," Remarked Trevor, getting straight to the point and explaining to her about Meta-Humans and then informing her about the Condition that was about to be placed on her.
After he finished his explanation, she was silent for a moment, before responding...
"I...I understand. But...I have a request. Um...in exchange for agreeing to let you place this Condition thing on me without any resistance, give me the chance to kill the man who killed my mother. No, or rather, give me the right to challenge him to a fight whenever I want, and to let me kill him."
Huh? Woah, ballsy move...
"Excuse me? You do realize that you're in no position to make demands, don't you?" Replied Trevor condescendingly.
"N-no, this is a request, not a demand."
"Same difference. Request denied."
" I...I see. Well, in that case...," She trailed off with a grimace, before suddenly pulling out a shard of ice and pressing it against her neck, a trickle of blood running down as the tip pierced her skin, "I've got nothing left to lose. I'm not bluffing...feel free to test me."
That look in her eyes...
"Hey, I don't think she's bluffing. Her request isn't that big a deal, the group that was sent after her only consisted of Category 2s and 3s, right?" I spoke up.
"Tch, damn it...I can't risk letting an Outlier die, since we've only captured the two. I'll call the higher ups and-," Began Trevor with a conflicted look on his face.
"I don't think so. If this ice starts to melt to the point where it becomes too blunt to pierce me, I'll stab myself. And that'll probably take about half a minute," Interrupted Miraliz with a look of immense determination.
"Why, you little-...! Alright, fine, but once the Condition is placed on you, I'm going to punch you in the face for pissing me off," Growled Trevor angrily, before relenting and turning to Ash, "Hey, get started. And add the following term to the Condition; the exception to betraying or killing a member of Eden is the one who killed her mother. Hey, little bitch, I take it you remember what this man looked like?"
"Of course I do, you asshole, I'll never forget that face...!" She responded with a tone of bitter hatred in her voice.
"Hmph, alright, then. Time to begin, Ash," Instructed Trevor impatiently, definitely in a bad mood.
"'Kay, fine," Ash sighed in response, before sitting down on the ground in front of Miraliz.
"Um...I don't really feel anything," Remarked Miraliz with a doubtful look on her face, after a couple of minutes had passed by.
"That's just the way it works, now be quiet, you little bitch," Growled Trevor irritably.
Man, he's really taking it out on her, huh. Well, being forced to do what you don't want to can definitely piss a person off.
"M'kay, I'm done," Sighed Ash, standing up and stretching.
"Hm? Oh, good work, now-...," Began Trevor, before Ash interrupted him with...
"Can I go home now?"
