Christmas is the time every family gets United and put their differences aside. Families look forward to this time of the year just so they could spend quality time with their loved ones.
Well, it is not the same case in my family. Mine is a family of five ie my parents, my brother Brett is the eldest, my sister Brenda who is the only girl in the family, and finally I, Brenton who is the youngest.
Being the last born in the family, our parents always pampered me a little bit too much, not to brag but I absolutely loved their pampering.
Much as I loved it, it wasn't the same case for my brother and sister, who were always getting into trouble not only with our parents but also the entire neighbourhood. This, I think came as a result of their adolescent ages.
Every time I did something that made our parents proud, I could see the deadly gaze that my siblings gave me. You could compare their gaze to prying eyes of an eagle when it spots its prey.
Brett and Brenda obviously hated me and they proved it every time they said to my face,
"I HATE YOU"
It hurt me a lot to live knowing that my siblings harbour so much hatred towards me, but as I was young and innocent, there was nothing I could do.
There was nothing I could do until now, this Christmas I had big plans for my family to reunite.
I planned to get tickets to some mystery island so that we can spend some family time together. You must be wondering how a nine year old could do such a thing.
There was this show on TV called ChrisFam. It only aired during the Christmas season. Different viewers would call on the studio line and in turn the presenter would ask them fifteen questions. If you are lucky enough to answer all these fifteen questions correctly, then every member of your family is given a free ticket for a boat cruise to some luxurious place for th E Christmas Holiday.
I planned to call and test my luck. Th is year they were to go to some island that they called magical. Boy I was so excited to win those tickets.
Today was a lazy Saturday, my parents were going on a date to remind themselves of the good old days before they had us. They wanted to hire a baby sitter for me I refused because I hated baby sitters. I simply gave them the excuse that Brenda will be home with me despite knowing fully well that she was going to some party with her friends.
I waved goodbye to mum and dad as they got into the car, at the same wishing for Brenda to leave as soon as possible since I didn't want anyone to know of my preparation for the holiday.
