Chapter 25 - Finals

After appearing back in his room, Raia quickly took his phone a browsed all the information he can get about beast pet contracts.

Unfortunately, he didn't find any valuable information about taming a beast without a beast contract. Most of the information says the contract is needed to tame a stronger beast.

"How should I tame that guy without a contract?"

He was trying to think of another way. Fortunately this time, he remembered something.

His memory led him to the universities.

'Most of the top universities give beast taming class. Wolford University has it too. I guess I'll sign up for that.'

The little silver fox really caught his interest. Unlike the other beasts that he encountered before, Raia sensed a little hint of intelligence in the eyes of the little silver fox. Not just some beast instincts but a real intelligence.

He wanted to have a contract with the little fox to make sure it won't leave him and follow all of his instructions.

"I could pause the contract for now until I get to the university but I need to keep the little silver fox close to me so I won't lose it."

He then returned to the world inside. However, he was shocked when he saw that the little silver fox was already gone.

"No!" Raia shouted. After a few minutes of rubbing his temple, he turned and continued hunting beasts and searching beast lairs.

"I'll meet him again. I know it."

Raia hunted for a few hours and exited the place after he didn't find any beast lair. He threw himself to his bed and instantly slept.

The following morning, Raia left his home early. It was the final exam so he wanted to come before their scheduled time.

Before he left, his parents were already awake and they both gave him some motivational advices.

He arrived at the school an hour before the start of the final exam.

Their schedule was simple. Written exam will take place in the morning and practical exam in the afternoon. In the final exam, the students were assigned to different rooms.

The school was empty except for the graduating students that will take the final exams and some professors that will facilitate the tests.

Raia was walking to his assigned room when he heard his name called. He turned around and saw Aaron running towards him.

"You're here early. Why?" Aaron asked him.

"Dude, I told you yesterday that I will come early. Did you already forget that?" Raia answered with a raised brow.

Aaron laughed and said. "Right, right, right. I remember. I remember."

"What is wrong? You're nervous?" Raia asked as they continue walking. Luckily for the two, they were assigned on the same room.

"What? No! I am not nervous! I am totally fine! There is nothing wrong with me! What are you talking about!?" Aaron shouted.

Raia laughed and grabbed one of Aaron's shoulder. He massaged it then patted it a few times.

"Relax. You will do great. Just trust yourself. You can do this." Raia encouraged him.

Aaron looked at Raia then slapped himself hard. Raia was startled by this. "You're right. I can do this. Thanks, man."

"No problem." Raia nodded. "But to be honest, seeing you nervous is kinda fun."

"You stupid!"

When they came to their room, the two of them were the first one to arrive. Inside the room, there were pods lined up in two rows. These ten pods were virtual reality pods. The students will take their final exam inside the special server made for this day.

Raia searched for his name on the virtual pods and found his spot at the most back. He leaned against it, took out his phone and searched if there is some information about beast contracts that he missed.

Half an hour later and students started coming. Raia didn't know some of them but he definitely saw them a few times.

When the time came, a female professor entered the room and gave the instructions to everyone.

"I am Vivian, your facilitator. I'll explain the rules of the exam as quick and simple as possible. The written exam will take six hours. The second the six hours is up, you will be forced to log out from the virtual pod. We will have an hour of break then continue with the practical exams. Strength measurement first then we move on to combat assessment. Everyone will start the exam and exit the pods at the same time. Further detailed instructions will be given inside. Your total points will be tallied immediately and you will receive the result of your exam and the overall ranking before the end of the day. That is all. Hope you all the best. Get into your virtual pods."

Raia and the others listened and followed the female professor.

He sat and closed the virtual pod. A few seconds later, he blacked out and when he opened his eyes again, he was standing in the middle of a small white room.

There was only a table and a chair in this room.

The wall in front of him has two countdown timers. One with three minutes and the other one with six hours.

[The written examination will start in three minutes.]

A voice sounded inside the room. The three minutes started running but the six hours was still stopped.

"I still have few minutes to relax." He sat and waited for the timer to go to zero. All the students will start the exam at the same time.

The first clock hit zero and a screen and pen appeared in front of Raia. The six hours also started running.

"Let's do this." He took the pen and answered the question displayed on the screen.

Almost six hours passed. Inside his small room, Raia was sitting lazily and bored. He already finished the 500 item exam two hours ago.

While he was relaxed at his spot, the other students were panicking because they still have many questions left unanswered.

'Ding!'

Raia's head went black and woke up inside the virtual pod. After stepping outside, Raia quickly saw some of the students in gloom expressions while the others were satisfied.

"You one hour break starts now. You can do what you want during this time but I advice not to leave the campus. We will resume after one hour." Miss Vivian said then she left the room.

The students began chatting about the written exam right away. Most of them left to eat at the cafeteria.

"Raia!" Aaron ran towards Raia with a big smile.

"How was the exam?" Raia asked.

Aaron gave a thumbs up as he spoke. "I did great! I have a few questions left but that is alright. I am confident about the ones I finished answering."

"That is great." Raia patted Aaron's shoulder.

"Thanks, man. You helped me a lot." Aaron said with gratitude.

"It's good that I am able to help. Let's go eat." Raia rested his arms on Aaron's shoulder as they walk towards the cafeteria.

"What about you? How did the exam go?" Aaron turned to Raia and asked.

Raia looked at the sky and replied. "It went fine."

"I bet you finished all the items." Aaron chuckled as he crossed his arms.

Raia only responded with a smile.

In a room full of holographic screens, a group of people was watching the examinees.

"This kid is insane!" Principal Ivan slapped Sir Timothy's back with excitement. Sir Timothy awkwardly smiled at him.

The fifteen people were sitting in front of the screens were various officers and professors of the school. All of their gazes were fixed on the topmost screen that displays the current score of the students and their rankings.

[ 1. Raia Chase Lyndon – 500 points

2. Jacob Lu Philips – 485 points

3. Caroline Danielle Spencer – 480 points

"I couldn't believe that he finished the written exam in under four hours and still got a perfect score!"

"He was the first one to be done but still got the highest score."

"He even beat Jacob! I expected Jacob to get the first place in the written exam."

"But there were also new names that popped up."

"Yes. I didn't expect Caroline to be at the third place."

"This batch of students is promising!"

The school officers gave their own praises and comments about the result. They were shocked but still happy and excited about what is happening.

"Now the second part is about to start. Let's see what Raia can show us, shall we?" Prinicpal Ivan fixed his posture and focused back on the screen.

Raia entered the virtual pod and this time, the white room was bigger and there was one dummy doll in the center of the room.

On top of it, a screen displays the instructions.

[Attack the dummy doll with your full strength.]

'Full power?'

Raia took a stance and punched the doll with his full strength.

'Bang!'

The strength measurement takes up 100 points while the combat assessment has 400. The student only needed to display Martial Physique State strength to get a score of 90. The stronger the student is, the higher the score. This is the reason why the strength assessment part is considered a bonus for the examinees. Most of them will get the perfect score after all.

The combat assessment will have the most impact in the final points of the students.

On top of the head of the doll, a number 100 was displayed.

'Good.'

A voice was suddenly heard.

[The combat assessment will start in five minutes.]

In the monitoring room, the school officers were in an uproar. It was because they knew what is the true value of strength that Raia had just displayed. In the examinee's room, the system only says what is his or her grade for the exam. The real value of their strength will be displayed after the exam.

"Strength 5,000?! Isn't that like the strength of a 5th level Martial Spirit State?"

"This kid has the highest combat power among the examinees!"

"His physique talent must be really good considering he already have this strength with his 1st level Martial Spirit State cultivation."

Any talent boosts the combat power of any individual. A normal cultivator with a talent can defeat an opponent that is at least a level above him

The physique talent is not one of the most destructive talents out there but it can be depending on how the talent was nurtured by its holder. Tempering the body is difficult after all. A single mistake in tempering technique can result into the loss of the talent itself and in the worst case, death of the individual. Cultivators also undergo extreme pain while training their physique talent. Tempering materials were difficult to find too and this cause another problem. When physique talent was left untrained for a period of time, there is a possibility that both of its speed of progress and power will decrease drastically.

That is also the reason why most of the people with physique talent would choose to explore the universe rather than just staying on one place. There is a greater chance of them finding their tempering resources if they embark on a journey and search for it themselves.

"This is great! With his talent, he can be a powerful individual in our race! When that happens, it would be a great honor of our school that Raia graduated from our school." Principal Ivan spoke with glee.

"Just thinking about it makes me excited." One of the school officers said.

"Me too."

On one side, Sir Timothy was smiling. 'I've got the chance to be his teacher and adviser. That is a great experience.'

The group talked for a minute then returned their attention to the exam. They also looked at the result of the strength measurement of the other students. Some of them were strong for their age, however, they pale in comparison with Raia.

"Jacob is a strong student." One of the teachers commented.

"Steven and France are commendable too." Another one said.

They began talking about the result of the strength measurement exam. Overall, they were happy with the results.

"The combat assessment will start." After a few minutes, Principal Ivan announced.

All of them shut their mouths and focused on the screen in front of them.
