Shard had been really looking forward to the week when "God's Gift Box" would give him some unexpected gifts. For instance, at the start of a new week, he hoped to gain something valuable effortlessly, like acquiring some valuable blood directly from the Gift Box.
However, the "Creator of Innocence" did not respond to Shard's craving. This week, the box contained a piece of butter cake as the gift.
Unfortunately, Shard had the habit of not looking, but directly reaching out to grab the gift, to create a sense of anticipation for himself.
Thus, when he reached into the box and felt something soft and squishy, he first thought he had touched some unspeakable substance... fortunately, it was just a hand full of cream, which he ended up eating as a late-night snack.
This greatly annoyed the cat because Shard didn't share any with it.
The requirement for the week was merely to donate at least half a pound to children's welfare facilities which, for Shard, meant just a trip out.
