The House of Barielle is a lowly house of barons. Their territory is just a small agricultural town with a population not going beyond three thousand.
The current head only have two sons and one daughter. The two sons are the older ones than his daughter.
It has been three years since the birth of their daughter. A girl with a bright golden hair and emerald colored eyes. Her name is Myucel Barielle.
A peculiar girl who seems to be smarter than what her appearance suggests. Her face always looks bright, yet hidden within her eyes are an intellect that no mortals can contest.
Myucel Barielle, the reincarnation of the First Magician, is currently walking on the hallways of her house. Her current destination is the personal library of her family.
When she arrives in there, she quickly enters without knocking. Inside is just a modest amount of shelves full of books. It is a small room with a single table and some chairs in the middle.
She wiggles her fingers sideways. The books on the library slowly moves out of their shelves and floats, moving towards the table and stacking themselves up. Then she hops for a bit, and instead of landing back on the ground, she floated on the air like the holds of the gravity didn't recognize her.
She slowly moves to the nearby chair before sitting on it. Then she picks one of the books stacked in it and opens it with just her will alone.
She only uses one of the simplest spells. It is known as Telekinesis.
It is the power to move things through will alone. A convenient type of magic and is a part of the neutral element.
Elements. Based on her studies, is the underlying concepts that makes up the world. She have discovered all the worldly elements and compiled it, categorizing each in their own domains.
The four basic elements which are fire, water, earth, and wind. The secondary elements which is nature, lightning, and ice. The tertiary elements which is the dark and light. The quaternary consisting of the sun, moon, space, and time. And the quinary elements which are the life, death, soul, creation, and destruction.
There is also the extra elements. This is also known as the sub elements. Most of the extra elements are elements that are a variant of most main elements from the five main categories. One of the extra elements is the Neutral Element.
The difference between most elements and the Neutral Element is that it's a non element. Other elements needed those elements to manifest themselves, while Neutral Elements doesn't.
For example. A fireball spell is a part of the Fire Element. The icicle spell is part of the Ice Element. These two spells can only be invoked in the image of those elements.
The Neutral Element didn't need any image of the elements. They only need to be casted and these spells can be achieved.
This is why it is also known as one of the easiest elements to be used. One of the basics that any mages can do.
Her eyes roams through the pages of the book, changing it every few seconds.
She is capable of remembering anything by glancing at it once so she didn't try to stop and take the time to read it.
After she is done on the book, she closes it before taking a sigh.
"This is so strange. What's with this incomplete info?"
It has been only a week since she managed to persuade her mother to get inside the library. Since then, she have been browsing through the books and taking all the knowledge of the current era.
She can't believe what she discovered.
Instead of her teachings, it seems like some wizard calling himself as Hadous decided to call the primary elements as the four main elements of this world. Along with this is the fifth element known as the Neutral Element.
Hadous is someone from two hundred years ago, and it seems like he is celebrated as the King of Modern Magic.
In his teachings, he claims that the four elements are the fundamental ones that made up the universe. The Neutral Element is the center of the four, making it the initiate element for all aspiring mages.
Light and Dark is a special element and seems to be limited by this who were specially born by it.
Secondary elements are claimed as just a variant of the four main elements. Then Time and Space are known as the legendary elements.
Most of the info have been washed up by flowery words and incomplete conclusions. So she can't even make sense what it is talking about.
In her opinion, Hadous' hypothesis is nothing but a farce. A thesis created by a child.
A few of it is right, but most of the things in there are just inferior versions or are completely wrong.
She can't understand. Her disciples should be still out there and teaching humanity about the right principles of magic. They also have immortality and eternal youth, so a mere thousands of years shouldn't have cause them to meet their end.
Unless something grave happens.
Along with the magical knowledge of this world, she also learned something that she fully hated to her very being. The fight between humans, elves, dwarves, and many more.
All of them are part of the humanity. They are comrades since time immemorial. Hearing them having a conflict so great that they are separated by territory makes her frown in disgust.
The wars that dated for a hundred years. Then the legends on those a thousand years ago. Those are the only things she managed to learn, and only read wars and conflicts on most of it's passages.
She can't see anything pertaining about the cruelty of dragons, spirits, and gods. Only praises about some of them that makes her almost fly into a rage.
'Why are they folding back to those cruel dictators!?' She thought in anger when she learned about it.
She is sure she left a lot of knowledge and legacies so humanity can stand up to those threats even in her absence. Seeing people having faith has soured her mood since her discovery about this.
Then there is the Eight Cardinal Gods. Surprisingly, these worships her eight disciples.
Her eight disciples are those whom she passed her greatest magical knowledge and principles. These eight are those who have the greatest potential to improve upon her craft.
Now they were being praised and revered all over the continent.
The God of Magic, Yuni.
The God of Creation, Fiore.
The God of Light, Lucina.
The God of Darkness, Vyers.
The God of Planes, Nirn.
The God of Crafts, Polus.
The God of Time, Armesia.
The God of Contracts, Avernia.
These are the Eight Cardinal Gods, and also the name of her eight disciples that she personally taught. They excel on each of her teachings, and can be said to have almost reach her mastery on each of her principles before her passing.
"Why are they revering my disciples? Why are people becoming so dependent on faith once more?"
She wonders that to herself, curious and disappointed at the current state of humanity.
She have fought gods, dragons, and spirits for the freedom of humanity. She have given all her knowledge and created wonders so they can advance themselves more, making civilization more prosperous than ever.
Having all her hard work nonexistent makes her disheartened. It felt like all her life's work are for nothing.
"... Is this truly the path humanity will take?" She shook her head. "I'll just have to see for myself."
She didn't want to worry her current parents. So she will wait for sometime. She have all the time. She have a lot of magic that can turn herself immortal so waiting for a decade is not that long for her.
For now, she will take the knowledge that she can take here, secretly train her magic, and spend her time bonding with her family.
It is her first time having parents. Her past life, she didn't have one because of the gods. They killed her parents before she reaches a weeks old in her past life.
So she will try to cherish this moment. Despite the incompetency that she is seeing, she wanted to believe in humanity.
So she will wait, and see how humanity works. She will only move when a great threat decided to raise their claws against her daily life.
~~o~~
Millia Barielle is the lady of the house. She is the mother of two sons and one daughter.
Her origins is that of a wealthy merchant family. She have been wed by the current head of this house, and their connection bears fruit in the form of the three children.
This territory is good. The people loves their lord. His sons were dignified and honest. Most people living are humble and brave.
The only thing holding them back is their meager wealth and poor environment.
Despite being nobles, they are just lowly nobles living on the small province of this kingdom. The land their family owns is barely fertile, and rain barely comes to water their crops. They didn't have any specialty products, and most people born aren't capable of magic.
Those who have talent can rise from their poverty. It is a rarity on this land, but some people awakens their talents for magic.
Though instead of staying here, they always go to the Capital, or another large city just to sustain their family. Which causes those territories to become stronger than here.
The lord can't possibly stop them. He is not a tyrant who only thinks for himself. He cares for his citizens, so he let them choose their fate.
This didn't change the fact that their territory is poor. The only thing holding them together is her merchant family, and the iron mines that they own. Other than that, they don't have anything else.
Her two sons were talented. They were blessed with the talent of magic. Both of them are eligible to become magical knights serving the throne.
The eldest brother have already become a student of the Magic Academy. The youngest brother is on his way to becoming it's student. Now only their daughter remains.
She thought that she will be mediocre. She will be like her, who have no talent with magic. Their plan for her is to spoil her, and give her a satisfying life while educating her how to be a lady. This is in preparation for her to become a noble lady, vying for those higher rank nobles and become a part of their house.
But all of their plans for her were broken when she shows her talent for magic. At her first year since being born, she shows her prowess to use the Neutral Element. She also shows her intellect by speaking fluently despite being an infant.
Just by that alone, they learned what she is.
She is a genius. A prodigy amongst the prodigy.
From that day on, they decided to support her from her every needs. At the same time, they also make sure to limit her.
They can't just let an infant go outside just because she knows some magic. They won't let her get into danger even if she is a genius.
They will make sure that she is loved and cared for.
That has been two years ago. Now that she is three years old, they have just permitted her to use the library. And they felt a bit sad seeing her putting all of her time in there.
Even if she is a genius, she is still the daughter of the nobles. They hope she didn't forget that she have to learn etiquette and other things, not just magic and history.
While her mother is thinking like that, she saw her daughter entering the room with a hop. Her face the depiction of energy.
"Mother, can I go outside?"
"Not yet, sweetheart. Your still too young."
The girl just nodded before going to another place, telling her that she will be taking a drink first before coming back to their small library.
It is a bit eerie, seeing her accepting it as quickly as possible. She didn't complain and just obey them.
Though, she is also vocal to her own desires. Her desire being that she wants to go outside and learn more about magic.
'I hope she have some other hobbies other than magic. She's still a child!' Her mother thought sadly.
