Chapter 38 - Going crazy

Instead of returning to the children's house, Shiey returned to the house where they were staying and locked herself inside their room. She then started to pace back and forth because nothing was going her way. She just wanted to get close to him but no one wanted her to do that.

Remembering the doctor's words, she sat on the bed. "Should I just give up?" She mumbled to herself. "Since he already had a mate."

So many thoughts came to her mind but she could not shake the feeling of not wanting to give up. Xander was different from any other man she had interacted with but he was already the Alpha's mate. If she gave up now, will she be able to find someone like him?

"I should just give up," she sighed to herself. She then left and went to look after the children to get her mind off things.

In the next few days, the feeling of longing and jealousy whenever she saw him smile and laugh with the Alpha started to claw at her heart. She wanted him to treat her like that, she wanted him.

"Are you alright?" He asked one time that they were resting after playing with the children and she felt ecstatic about it.

"I'm fine," she answered with a smile. Her heart was already beating so fast by just being with him and she was excited at the thought that he was concerned about her. It was the best feeling she could ever have.

"That's good to know, I've noticed that you were frowning these past few days and thought that you have a problem." He smiled at her which she greatly enjoyed. She was about to answer but the Alpha came and interrupted them once again.

"Xander, let's go. I have something to give you," that smile made Shiey angry. She thought that the Alpha was a two-faced woman and that she was only pretending to be someone good.

"Okay, since we don't have anything to do right now." He stood up and bid her goodbye. Shiey could only nod and smile but the Alpha had been looking at her with cold eyes. It was as if she was looking down at her and she could feel the hostility emanating from her whenever their gaze met.

She watched the both of them walk away without giving her a second glance and the greed in her heart flared up. She wanted him all to herself. She hated the Alpha for monopolizing him.

'What was so good about her?' she silently asked herself as she watched them leave. 'Yes, she was an Alpha but aside from that there was no good merit to her. Aside from her acting like she was high and mighty because of her position and ordering everyone around, she could see no other traits that would make a man like her.'

That day she decided that she would not acknowledge them as mates. She still had a chance because Xander was human, and she believed that a human's heart can be easily swayed. All she needed to do was create an opportunity for her to show Xander that she was better than the Alpha.

Screw giving up, she would instead fight back. With the limited time they have in Ceurian, she would make sure that Xander would notice her.

'That's right you should get what you want,' a voice echoed out of nowhere which startled her. She looked around but saw no one and yet the voice continued to speak. 'We can kill her if you want, that way you can have Xander all to yourself.'

The voice was cold and yet at the same time it was enticing. It was urging her, pushing her slowly to agree with it. She frowned. She did not like the presence of the voice and how vicious it sounds. She took a deep breath and ignored it, but she did not expect that voice to be so persistent. She continued to shook it off but during the days where she found herself alone or jealous of what she was witnessing, the voice would become louder in her head.

'Look, with her around you won't be able to get his attention. If you get rid of her, it will be easier for you to have him to yourself. I can help you,' the voice continued with its monologue. She held herself back and ignored it.

A day came where Xander appeared at the children's house without the Alpha with him. She was so happy that she could finally talk to the man without the Alpha interfering. This was her chance so she did not waste time and approached him with her best smile.

"Hi!" She greeted after she stood a few inches away from Xander.

Hearing the voice behind her, he turned around and accidentally bumped into her which made her stumble back and lost her balance. Xander's eyes widened as he caught her with his hands on her waist to keep her from falling.

"Are you alright?" he asked with a serious face while maintaining their balance.

"Yes, I-I am okay." She answered with her face that have already turned red. It was an accident but she felt happy.

Xander helped her to stand up properly and sighed. He was glad that she did not fall on the ground. "I'm sorry, I was not expecting you to stand so close behind me," he apologized.

"It's okay since you prevented me from falling so thank you." She shook her head and instead smiled. This was going smoothly for her. She was lucky that the Alpha was not there.

"Oh yes, we cooked some food for the children would you like to stay and eat with us?" he asked as an afterthought when he recalled that he had helped in the kitchen just a while ago.

After hearing the invitation, she became ecstatic and immediately agreed. They then walked towards the dining room of the house where the aunties were busy preparing the table. Without being asked to, Xander went to help with placing the plates and utensils on the table. Shiey also went to help them and closely followed behind Xander. Both of them became busy with helping in the preparation and distribution of food before they sat down to eat their food.

She enjoyed the lunch thoroughly and after eating while they rested outside, Shiey asked him a question to set the mood, "I heard that you are actually human and you don't live here." She started and Xander hummed in agreement.

"Yes, I was rescued by Amber and had been living here ever since." He answered with a fond smile on his face. Shiey saw this look and felt jealous.

"Why didn't you return after you healed?" she shifted the question since she did not want to talk about the Alpha when they were spending time together.

"It's a little bit complicated so for now I will be staying here," was his simple answer. Shiey became curious but she chose to drop the topic for now. She could ask some other day. "How about you? What brought you all here? I heard that you are from the Yulian pack and that you were attacked?" he also asked since he was curious as to why just the children and the teens were here.

Shiey became silent for a moment and took a deep breath before she answered, "That's because our pack was attacked by rogues and for our pack's recovery, our Alpha decided to keep the pups in a safe place since there is a high possibility of another attack from the rogues."

"Rogues?" he did not understand since that term was not familiar to him but he could get a gist of what she explained, that they were attacked by enemies.

Shiey was confused at the question, "Didn't you know what a rogue is?" It seems that he doesn't have enough knowledge regarding werewolves. She could not help but curse the Alpha for not telling him everything or any information that could help him survive while staying with werewolves.

"Rogues are also werewolves the only difference is that they are dangerous since they already lost their rationality. There are many reasons why a werewolf becomes a rogue, it may be caused by trauma or too much pain that they could not handle it. Then they will lose their sanity and would morph into their wolf form never to return in their human form once again," she explained. She was feeling good because she was the one teaching him about these things which was supposed to be his mate's responsibility.

"Then why would the rogues attack your pack?" it was a common question from people who don't know how rogues behave.

"Since they have regressed to their wolf form, they would also become feral and would hunt preys so it was normal for rogues to be sighted around areas where there are people or around packs. But in our case, the rogues had formed a group and attacked our packed. The puzzling thing about it was why were they in groups? You see rogues do not have a pack, they prefer to be alone, so it was a mystery as to what had happened to those rogues." A frown then appeared on her face as she remembered what had happened that night. It was a complete chaos but they managed to survive as the warriors had fought well.

"I see," he nodded. The topic had instantly turned the atmosphere a little bit gloomy so Shiey took the initiative to change the topic.

"Before you came here, what were you doing in the human society?" she asked in curiosity as she was genuinely interested in knowing it.

"I'm an engineer and before this happened, I was working on a project here in Baryo Madlaw." He casually answered followed by a low laugh.

Shiey could not hid her amazement as she looked at him with wide eyes. He was truly amazing and perfect for her. Before she could even compliment the man, a chill ran down her spine and the prickling sensation from a powerful aura was already stabbing at her.

"It seems that the both of you are having a good time?" a cold voice came from Shiey's back.
