"Is that the Alpha's mate?" he eyed the bleeding man lying on the ground while also observing the Alpha. She was still growling and even took a defensive stance above the man.
"Yes, this is a little bit inconvenient. We did not expect that the Alpha will find her mate in this kind of situation. Now we need to calm the Alpha down and let her allow us to look at the man. Judging from the blood, the wound is definitely deep and it needs immediate attention." He looked at Zael who just finished putting on the clothes and gestured to the direction of the Alpha and her mate, "Now do your job and convince the Alpha."
"Alright, I'll do my best. I'll be counting on you to save me if the Alpha decides to rip me in sheds when I try to approach them." He slowly walked forward while carefully watching the Alpha's reaction. Every step he took near them, Amber would give a growl and lowered her body as an indication that she was ready to attack anytime.
Zael raised his hand in surrender while walking forward, "Alpha, we are here to help you and your mate. We mean you no harm, please we need to treat your mate immediately or else he will die of blood loss." The wolf growled but it was not as aggressive as before, it seems that Zael's words had worked a little bit. "The wound on his shoulder can be fatal if it is not tended to and he is losing a lot of blood. Alpha, if you don't want him to die, you should let us help."
With those words, the alpha wolf's head looked down and she could feel that her mate's breathing was getting shallow. Reluctantly, she moved aside to let Zael take a step forward but the moment the others attempted to get near, she growled and almost pounced at them if not for Zael stopping them from moving forward.
He kneeled beside the man and checked his pulse after that he slightly moved the man to look at the wound. The blood on the ground had already dried up but there was still a lot of it coming from the wound. He took a bandaged from his pocket and carefully bandaged the wound to temporarily stop the bleeding.
"Alpha, we need to bring him to the pack and let the pack doctor take over. He had already lost too much blood," Zael looked at the Alpha's eyes with conviction. "If you won't allow us to move him, he'll surely die."
She growled and bared his fangs after hearing the word die once again. With not much option, she moved aside to let them do their job. Zayier and the other pack warriors already had a stretcher prepared. They carefully lifted the wounded man and carried him carefully through the dark paths of the forest. The Alpha refused to turn into her human form and remained vigilant along the way.
The pack members were surprised to see their Alpha in her wolf form and that they were escorting an unconscious man into the pack house. It was a first for them to see this kind of scene inside their territory since their Alpha was not keen on letting other people in. If any of them were to discover people inside Ceurian, they were to report it to the Beta and will let him handle them. Whispered questions started to circulate around the pack but the Alpha had no time to mind them.
Dr. Silver, who was already waiting for them, immediately moved to work the moment they transferred him to the bed. She instructed them to leave and only the Alpha was to stay since she was notified of the situation because she can't agitate their Alpha even more.
The doctor cleaned the wound and saw several deep puncture wounds that came from the rogue's fangs. Amber could not help the growl that escaped from her when she saw the wound. Dr. Silver tensed at the growl but she still continued with her work and carefully applied a thin layer of an antibiotic cream on the wound. After doing that, she covered the wound to keep it clean and free from infection. She then covered him with a clean blanket before facing the Alpha.
"Please change back to your human form," Dr. Silver was bowing while talking to the Alpha wolf but Amber refused and growled at the doctor. The doctor did not push through with her request.
"How is he?" the alpha's voiced echoed through the mind link while her gaze remained at the sleeping figure of her mate. Even with him sleeping, he still looked handsome and angelic in her eyes.
"He's fine. He'll need rest to regain his strength since he lost a lot of blood from the wound. I will leave the cream and the bandages in here so that you can change it every other day to avoid infection." She pointed at the first aid bag on the bedside table. "If something happens, please call for me immediately."
She laid on the floor beside the bed to make it more convenient to watch her mate after the doctor left. She was fascinated and at the same time curious of the man. It came as an unexpected surprise that she would be able to meet her mate since she had already given up in finding him.
The feeling of having a mate was very foreign to her and there was once a time she wanted to feel it too as she saw many of her pack members finding theirs. But the moment that she turned eighteen and the mate call did not come, the feeling of despair and disappointment became overwhelming that she locked herself away from the world. Her parents had encouraged her to wait and she did but no one still came so in desperation she chose not to hope any longer. Then, she became Alpha and further lost the desire to seek his mate.
Now that he was here, she was having mixed feelings about it and now that she had calmed down, the thought of him being a human slowly registered to her. At those thought, a low growl came from the wolf. 'Don't even think about it, he is our mate and it doesn't matter whether he is a human or a werewolf.' Her wolf was not happy with her thoughts. For a werewolf to find their mate, it was considered a blessing from the moon goddess herself.
"Yes, I know but I have broken my own rule by letting him inside our pack," she frowned. She did not allow any other humans entry to their territory and yet she lost her cool just because of her mate and now the rule she had set herself was broken.
'Then would you have rather left him there to die?' she was not pleased at Amber's words. Her wolf was sensing regret from her and that was not sitting well with her.
"Of course not! He is still our mate so I would not be that cruel to him," Amber retorted. She would not be that heartless.
'Don't even think of sending him away or else I will not speak with you. You know how important a mate is to a werewolf,' she growled which made Amber uncomfortable. This was the first time that her wolf had argued with her.
She knew how important a mate was for a werewolf so she was not foolish enough to reject him the only problem she had was that he was human. How can he help her in ruling if he knew nothing of their race? Would he be willing to stay in Ceurian for her? Being involved with a human would only bring complications and problems for her.
'How will you know if you don't try. The mate bond is not to be taken lightly.' Her wolf sounded confident but the doubt in Amber's heart remained. 'Stop doubting! You are an Alpha!' She became discontent with her that after saying those words she chose to remain silent and not talk with her anymore.
For the next hour, Amber tried to talk to his wolf but she was coldly ignored. She sighed and let her wolf be while her gaze lingered on the peacefully sleeping man. Although in turmoil, she could not ignore the call of the bond and her fascination with him. Even her heart could not stop from pounding at the distance between them. Amber was new to this kind of things and although she had seen many of her pack finding their mate but to actually experience it herself was something different.
A sigh left her as a knock sounded inside the room then she heard Zael's voice from the hall calling her to eat something. She did not get up and was determined to ignore her beta but Zael pushed the door open.
Now that their Alpha was calm, he could finally ask. "Aren't you returning to your human form Alpha?" There was no response so he asked the alpha through the mind link. "How is he?"
"He'll live," Amber casually answered which made the Beta frown. The concern that her wolf had shown contradicted the alpha's casual tone. It seems that something had happened between her and her wolf.
"Is everything alright?" he could not help but ask. Their Alpha's action right now was not right for someone who had found a mate. He was expecting for her to immediately announce the good news and perhaps throw a celebration because that was what she had been doing for the other members who had finally found their mates.
The wolf growled once again as it stood up and faced the beta. "Leave."
