Chapter 3 - Changes

Glancing at the clock, Mia jumped off the bed quickly. She opened the closet and took her clothes out, laying them on the bed. she went in the bathroom for a shower.

Switching the water off, She wrapped her body up in a towel and began to dried her hair with another towel. Coming out off the bathroom she picked her clothes and slipped into them. She walked towards her bedside table, opening it, she took out her mosturiser and began to apply it on her body and face. Once she had finished, she stepped out of the room.

"I thought you forgot that today is your first day of school and was just coming to wake you up." Mia stared at her sister, who was sitting on a chair at the dining table.

"How can I forget sis, you know I'm so excited for it." Rebecca replied with her mouth full of food. Suddenly Mia saw her getting up, walking towards her with a sad face. She wrapped her arms around Mia."Thank you so much for everything you have done for me. You are the best sister in the world and I love you so much." Mia heard her sniffing.

"Aww I love you too baby." She patted her back, as they separated from eachother. "But aren't you getting late?" Rebecca's mouth formed an O, she forgot about her being late on her first day of school. Stupid.

"The breakfast is ready so you don't need to make it today." Rebecca spoke turning towards the kitchen door, ready to exit.

"How many times i have told you not to cook. Because of your cooked food I always end up getting a stomach ache." Mia groaned.

"I know, I don't have any experience with it but at least I'm learning how to. And for your information I didn't cook Ava was here, she made all of this." Rebecca explained.

"Then you should have told me this earlier." Angel glanced at her.

"You are a bad sister."

"Wait aren't you the one saying I'm the best sister in the world a minute ago?"

"It just slipped." Rebecca answered. "Whatever now go and get ready I'll give you a ride to your school." Mia said shrugging her shoulders.

"Oh i forgot, your car is here and don't worry. Ava is giving me a ride and she's the one who is going to pick me after school too." Mia nodded at her as Rebecca went out.

Mia sat down on the chair. She grabbed the cup of coffee, placed on the kitchen counter.

The coffee was still hot at which she assumed, it was freshly made. While sipping on it, she grabbed a bread toast and applied butter on it. When she was done eating, she cleaned the dishes.

After doing everything in the kitchen, she went back in her room. Brushing her hairs, she left them free on her back. Her light brown wavy hairs reached her mid back. Applying a nude pink lipstick and mascara, she checked out her simple but classy outfit in the mirror. She got all the features of her mom, sometimes people even complimented them saying they looked more of sisters than mother daughter. She was wearing a plain black sleeveless bodycon dress. Which reached above her knees. Mia completed her look with small golden hoops and hand accessories. Wearing her sandals, she was ready to go. "Bye I'm going!" she heard the main door closing along her sister's voice as she stepped out of the room.

Mia locked the house door and took her car keys out of her handbag. Sitting in the car, she drove off. As she was driving, the feeling of being followed came back. She looked back but as there were many cars so, she wasn't sure which one it is. She sighed, it actually became her habit as she does it alot.

Everything changed after her mother died. They moved here in NYC three weeks after her death. Since then strange things started happening. Like sometimes the feeling of being followed. First Mia thought it was just her imagination. But it got confirmed, when one night Rebecca told her that she gets an uncomfortable feeling of being watched every time she's outside. If it was a stalker then he couldn't be following both of them at the same time.

Rebecca told her that she always notice a black car following but whenever she seems to look back, it disappears like it wasn't standing there. She was actually scared about it. So, for her sake Mia tried talking to police but they found nothing not even a single thing about this all. Well whoever they were beside following, they did nothing to harm them. Until last night, she shuddered again as she recalled the events.

But however Mia was still conscious about everything and never let her guard down. Whenever she had to go outside of city or country due to her office work. She instructed Rebecca to keep the house door locked or stay with Ava . She was lucky to have a friend like her. She was always there whenever Mia needed her. And just like that her phone rang. "Yes, Ava I 'm about to reach." She replied to the other line "Of course she would be nervous it was her first day." The car came to halt as she parked it at the parking area of her office building. "Are you going to pick her to?" Mia climbed out of the car. She stared at the tall building.

"But you didn't tell me today your day was off. No, you two can go I'll be a bit late today."

She inhaled fresh air as she look down at her shoes and then towards the entrance of the building where stood the elderly man smiling at her. Her heart warmed up and she smiled back. Hanging up the phone she walked ahead. "How are you John?" She smiled warmly at the old man. "I'm fine my child. How are you doing? Are you taking meals properly? You are becoming weak day by day." John complained.

"John its only you who says that." Mia fake frowned. "Oh no child just take good care of yourself." Mia chuckled. "I will don't worry John." Greeting John and asking about his health. Mia went inside the building ready to start another good long day.
