Chapter 14 - Chapter 14

Once again I appear in the hospital room, I slowly rise up from my rest and I look around to see Olivia, Hansel, Gretel, and Gale crowded around me who would soon embrace me with tears of joy. While we all hugged I saw Dante standing at the back of the room with a horribly hidden face of relief. They all break away and begin to tell me much-needed news.

"We were so worried you've been sleeping for 3 days!" Olivia exclaims.

"We weren't afraid he has a heart of a bear!" They say in a heavy Scandinavian accent.

"He's good enough to be on our squadron!' Gale exclaims. He is met with approval.

"Are you insane! A rookie? On Alpha Squadron?! He gets lucky on a mission and suddenly gets ranked up to the top? Hell, why not make him head of whole damn Black Ops?!" Dante says in an angered voice with his face completely red.

The room goes silent and looks at Dante with great concern. Gretel stands up to him, greatly enraged by his disrespectful tone.

"Lucky?!" He fought a mob of those mutated creatures! And you have the gall to add folly to his grand victory! No, I will not-" Gretel is restrained by Hansel trying to calm her down.

"You'd best leave" Hansel warns Dante. He storms out.

Olivia smiles at me and begins to speak to me.

"My father is extremely proud of your progress and would be so pleased if you joined the Alpha Squadron!" She exclaims. A group of people rushes to the window and one soldier walks out of the crowd and into the room.

"We're ready for departure!" He reports. He switches his gaze toward me and gets flustered.

"It's a pleasure to meet your acquaintance, sir!" He addresses me. Sir? Wow, I wonder how big this truly has gotten, but what mission is he referring to?

"Uh, when should I get ready for the mission?" I ask. Olivia looks at me with great surprise.

Oh! Uh, you should probably rest up you aren't exactly ready for combat we don't need any liabilities in our first mission."

"Wait shouldn't I be on the first mission!?" I ask her frantically.

"Don't worry about it, you'll be fin missing out on one." She says while patting my head and walking off. I flop into my pillows and stare at the ceiling, I slowly look to my side and see a windbreaker and joggers. I slip on my joggers and run out putting on my windbreaker as I try to reach the aircraft. I appear out to the landing field faced with 5 planes, and I sprint towards the closest one. The ramp begins to retract, and as near the aircraft I jump and grab onto it and vault over it and land into armory met with the other soldiers' astonished look. Gretel walks up with great urgency and tells me to follow her.

"Alright I will not let her know you're here, but you cannot fail you must power through whatever pain you must feel because if she finds out you were here against her orders could get severely punished." She warns me. She hands me a pistol and a knife.

"Do not make yourself stand out." She warns me lastly and leaves to return to her station. I sheathe my knife and holster my pistol and I return to the armory with the infantry. After a few hours, we make landfall and it's a pristine field of green leading to a bustling. I step off of the aircraft letting my fingers gently scathe the tall grass and letting the tranquil airflow through my hair. I take a deep breath and hear an announcement from Oliva.

"This is no mission to dawdle, we finally have a reading on our targets, and it led us to this city." She announces and begins to pull out a picture of the perpetrator. "This man is our target; no arrest is needed only his head!" She orders. We flood the streets investigating pedestrians and we're soon interrupted by the sound of a loud explosion from a nearby building.

"Abandon the mission secure the citizens and protect them!" Olivia declares.

"Hey!" A familiar voice yells at two masked men running from the scene, it was Gale he runs out of view, and I contemplate my next course of action. I follow his trail and it leads to an alleyway full of railings towering above it and I see many decrepit people perched on them, it was like a wake of vultures preying on its next meal, Hawkins. I look down to see Gale defeating the two suspects unknowingly of his doom. They swan dive off of the railings with knives and other weapons, I reveal my positions and tackle Gale, and the bodies stack on top of each other it was a self-destructive attempt at an ambush. Seeing bones erupt from their frail bodies was an unsightly sight. Gale rises up and hugs me.

"I know you weren't supposed to come but I'm glad you were watching my back man!" He says in a relieved and happy tone. We notice people parkouring over the rooftops toward the central building, many people start to go into a frenzy, and soon the entire city is in panic. Gale gets into a perching position and his mechanical wings shoot out from his back device. And a blue flame erupts from the ignition, and he hovers above me and bursts off into the air to follow the suspects. I follow him on foot until I reach the building which already has soldiers surrounding it. I reach the doors and the soldiers appear to have been sedated, but somehow still standing. I take my gun out of my holster and I tread carefully into the building.
