Jack runs back to his apartment while trying to dial up Maribel's number. Hoping that she would respond. After trying to call her 2 times, Jack hears his daughter's voice from over the phone.
"Dad?"
"Maribel! Are you back in the apartment?" Jack asks worriedly.
"N-No... I am at Goliath's office. I was talking to him about the job offer since I had time to think it over." Maribel's voice is sounding scared.
Jack opens up the apartment building's door while trying not to slam the glass door against the red brick, "Listen here sweetie, I need you to get out of there and meet up with me outside of town!"
"Dad... I am scared, what did you do?" Maribel sounds as though she is about to cry.
Jack throws his phone at a wall and not wanting to his own daughter. He hated how Maribel was raised by the other siblings. They treated her with kindness and compassion while he made sure that she knows of the real world. It is a harsh place and no one likes to live in it, but this is what happens.
Jack runs up to his apartment and sees his wife standing in the middle of the room, "Lilly! We need to leave!"
Lilly looks at Jack with concern, "What are you talking about?"
Jack holds up his leather bag, "I stole Goliath's secret treasure. He is weak against us now."
Lilly smiles as she touches the bag. A sparkle twinkled in her eyes as she quickly loses it, "Where is that messed up child?"
"Maribel is at the building still. They might be thinking that I was working with her." Jack lets Lilly hold onto the leather bag.
Lilly laughs and walks over to the kitchen window to see Goliath outside with his men. She turns her head towards Jack, "They are here!" Her eyes widening in fear.
Jack walks over to Lilly to see Goliath as he shuts the blinds. He puts his hands onto her shoulders, "Let's get out of here."
Lilly nods and holds her hand into Jack's hand while holding onto the leather bag.
Screaming comes from outside of the door leading into the apartment building. Women, children, and men alike screamed from the top of their lungs.
Fighting for one's life can be heard as Lilly stops walking to the door while Jack goes up to the door and opens it to see Goliath standing before them. His expression shows anger while he has a cigar popping out of his mouth. Twirling it as he steps forward, ready to take back what is his.
"Why... It has not even been a full day, Jack." Goliath says as he takes out the cigar with his left hand; bleeding with blood from victims who dared to speak back.
Jack backs up with Lilly behind him, "G-Goliath! I-I wasn't expecting you to be here!"
Goliath enters more into the room, "Well Jack, I have found out from a little birdie that someone stole my golden diamond. I am here to take it back." He narrows his eyes at Jack.
Jack looks behind Goliath to see Goliath's men entering the room and surrounding them. Not letting them escape for what is about to happen.
Lilly says angrily with a hint of fear, "You better leave our home or el-"
One of Goliath's men pierced a hand through Lilly's breast.
The man dug his hand out of Lilly's breast to watch her body fall onto the ground with a thud and shook his hand to get any excess blood off of him. He looks up at Goliath, "No one talks back to you, sir."
Goliath stares at Jack before looking away, "Bring him back to my office. His daughter should still be there." He turns around and heads out of the room. Hearing his men grabbing Jack and the bag before heading out of the room.
The walk back to the building was disastrous for Jack, he was forced to run on the ground while he watched everyone else around him was walking through the rain. The rain wasn't going to lighten up at any point since the road almost had an inch of water.
The doors to the building flung open. Goliath flew through the doors and up to his office and saw Maribel shaking in a seat. Scared for her life.
Goliath turns around to see his men carrying Jack into his office until they threw him closer to Maribel. He crossed his arms, "So, Jack... You got 2 choices: 1. You leave this town and rot or 2. You can stand there and die."
Jack gets onto his knees and hands. Looking at the ground below him and into his reflection. Seeing that he is soaked as each drop of water goes down his hair and onto the ground. He turns his head towards Goliath to see that he is awaiting an answer. The answer was clear, he craved for his own life.
"I will sacrifice my own life!" Maribel stands up proudly. Tears running down her cheeks as fear becomes more noticeable by each passing minute, "I don't want my father to die, please let me stay and die in his place!"
Goliath looks at Maribel. Her courage makes him want her here more. He smirks as his cigar drips with water coming off of it. He takes it out and throws it into the trash, "How about this, Maribel will stay here as my personal assistant while Jack gets to leave alive. Deal?"
Maribel felt her heart hurt because she has to be separated from her father. She soon nods, "I agree."
Jack looks at Maribel as he gets onto his feet. Her stupidity is going to be the end of her, he thought to himself. Nothing good is going to come to her in the end. Becoming Goliath's assistant means that they have to be strong willed.
Jack looks over to Goliath and nods, "I agree with these conditions as well." His voice sounds a bit stern, but he tries to hide it with fear.
Goliath notices the stern and fake fear. He smiles wide, "Great, now leave." He turns away from Jack as he goes over to his seat and sits down on it.
Jack watches Goliath before turning around and running off. Not saying another word to his daughter who wanted to say goodbye to her father.
Goliath looks at his men and nods.
Maribel notices the men running out of the room and she runs over to the window to see her father running away from the oncoming gargoyles. She turns around and runs to the elevator to only be grabbed by Cindy who stopped her mid-in her tracks. Maribel struggles to get out of Cindy's grasp and yells, "Dad!!"
