Chapter 11 - CHAPTER 11: First Quest

The hot breeze was blowing against my face as I peeked my head outside the window, propping my chin on top of my arms.

'Ahh, it's so hot today

It would be nice to wear a sleeveless shirt today but since I'm in Draco's body, that would be very odd. Instead, I'm wearing a black polo shirt and gray trousers. Glancing at Draco, he was also wearing a red polo shirt and tight jeans. Where did he even get that outfit? I don't wear that kind of clothes. Anyway, today is Saturday and we agreed to start our quest of finding the first artifact.

"So what's the first thing we're going to collect?" Draco asked as he was focusing on the road. I then grabbed the green book and flipped through the pages.

"Let's go with the treasure coin" I answered as I traced my finger on the page, scanning through its contents.

"According to this book, it is an old coin with a dragon's head on both sides. It was owned by Mr.Mulligan and has been in his family's possession ever since. It's been a mystery ever since it was discovered. It was suspected that the coin was hidden somewhere in Mulligan's residence" He just remained silent as I continued reading.

"It's a 3-hour drive from here" I added.

Hearing this, Draco answered with a straight face and monotonous tone, "That's no problem" he said while turning the steering wheel. After that, there was an awkward silence as the car continued running. With this, I decided to break the silence and ask him about what his brother said to me last night.

"So..." I trailed in hesitation as I took a gulp. Should I ask him?

"I met your brother for the first time last night" I added while staring straight ahead. He remained silent as he waited for my next words. I then took a deep breath.

'Aish whatever!'

"And he called me a bastard child." I kept glancing at him, waiting for his reaction.

Upon hearing this, his expression became serious and I noticed that he gripped tighter on the steering wheel. A moment of silence then came in. Is he mad that I asked? "Hey, I know I shouldn't pry but... is it true?"

"I don't want to talk about it" He replied after a while with a grim expression. Ah, I must have hit a nerve there.

"I understand. Sorry for asking" I said as I looked away from him. Is it that hard to talk about? As much as I wanted to question more I decided to keep it to myself. Well maybe it's for the best, I decided not to be involved with him anyway. Instead of being in an awkward situation again with him, I shut my eyes as I rested my head on the headrest. I hope this drive will be done more quickly.

========================

"Hey, wake up! You're fvcking drooling in the car"

My head was leaning against the window when I suddenly woke up when I heard Draco's irritated voice. I straightened myself up as I rubbed my eyes.

'Did we arrive already?'

As I turned my attention outside, the first thing that caught my eye was the two-story renaissance house. It has a worn-out gate fence and a stone wall surrounding the area. This must be Mr. Mulligan's residence. But wait..what did he just say to me?

….

I then wiped the sides of my mouth after realizing what he said. Crap, I did drool.

'How embarrassing!' I mentally exclaimed

Before I could say anything back at him, he was already out of the car. I followed him as he stopped and stared at the old front gate. It has a rusty chain and padlocks securing the gate. In front, there is a small board plastered on it.

"It says no trespassing" He announced as If I can't read.

"So what? We also trespassed on Damien's place before. What's the difference now?" I answered while looking for another way to enter. Fortunately, there is a hole in the stone wall.

"Just our luck," I smirked as I crouched down and parted the bushes so that we could access the opening. The size is good enough for us to fit in.

"Emma, this is illegal!" Draco cried out, hesitating to follow my lead.

Hearing that, I looked at him with a fed-up expression on my face. "Don't be such a wimp"

After I replied, Draco furrowed his brows and replied in a defensive tone."I'm not a goddamn wimp"

"Yeah yeah," I then rolled my eyes as I crawled through the hole and Draco soon followed after. After getting in, we gaze our eyes at the area as we slowly walk to the front door. It is a fairly big house with a well-kept front garden. There is also a small fountain with a baby angel statue in it. It was a fairly big residence

"This place looks very old," I commented as I stared at the windows on the 2nd floor. Something about this house made my hair stand straight. There was a dark and sad atmosphere around it.

"We should hurry, it's gonna get dark in a few hours," Draco said as he opened the door, making a creaking sound as it opened. As we walked in, we were greeted by a fairly dark and wide hallway. Good thing, Draco bought us a flashlight. We then walked in as we turned on our flashlights and roamed around the hall. Seeing the insides, it looks like the place has been maintained now and then.

"Let's split up and investigate first," I suggested as I was about to venture further.

After I said that, Draco then immediately looked at me with slightly wide eyes, "What? No! That is how people die in a horror movie" he exclaimed with furrowed brows. Wait...is he scared?

I then smiled after an idea came to me, "Aww, are you scared? Want me to hold your hand?" I teased while holding out my hand. His face flushed in embarrassment as he looked away and covered his mouth using the back of his hand.

"I'm just being rational but whatever. Let's meet here in 15 minutes." He mumbled as he walked away and went to the opposite side of me.

"If you get scared, just run to me" I chuckled at him. I didn't know it was this fun to tease him.

"Tch never," he replied with an aggravated tone.
