Chapter 24 - Lucky Bonk

"Hmm? His air changed." Alisa frowned, feeling something different from Albert after that one attack. Still, she misunderstood Albert's intention as an excitement. She said, "You're an energetic, powerful and earnest guy. You pique my interest. Fine by me, let's see whether you can hit me or not. Come!"

Albert's expression became serious as he ran forward while waving his bat downwards.

Seeing this, Alisa stomped the ground and hit the bat from the side, trying to deflect it.

Albert managed to react and slightly shifted the bat's direction. When the two weapons collided, the sword was blown away while the bat swayed in the opposite direction.

'An equal exchange?' Alisa thought while narrowing her eyes. 'No. My strength is still stronger. That's a fact when I see that his bat moves in the opposite direction. I see. So that's how it is.'

With his bat swinging to the side, Albert tried to raise his knee according to the Bonkmanship.

However, he was too late. Alisa's knee already hit his stomach and pushed him back.

Albert took a few steps back and coughed a few times.

"You're strong and your foundation is quite good. What you lack right now is battle experience. In a battle like this, you should endure all sorts of pain and keep coming at your opponent because if you're not…" Alisa finally made her first move.

Albert, who still felt numb on his stomach, swung his bat to the side where Alisa planned to attack him, albeit Alisa struck his bat to the bottom.

The Bonk Bat generated the same force, but Alisa had prepared for this and used her wrists to stop that power. On the other hand, Albert's bat was pushed down to the ground, leaving the coughing Albert vulnerable.

"You will have so many openings. Fighting technique is good, but if your body can't utilize it, it's useless." Alisa kicked Albert on the butt, but it wasn't too strong to make sure Albert wouldn't feel too much pain. After all, she planned to invite Albert to the subjugation group regardless of the result. She wanted to use this small spar to teach him a few things to strengthen him.

Albert gritted his teeth and stepped forward before turning his body around and hitting her sword. "Bonk Smasher."

"!!!" Alisa widened her eyes and held her sword with both hands. The moment the bat hit her sword, she was launched into the air and landed more than fifteen feet away from him. Her hands were shaking for a second before her firm grip returned. She looked at Albert with an impressed smile. "That's one hell of a power you have there."

"This young man is extremely powerful. Although he's too green, he has everything to rise." The guys, who were cheering for him, couldn't help but assess him with their own experiences. They were amazed by Albert's power after all.

"That's right. If he's this good without a job, what kind of power will he have later?"

"Damn. He's insane."

"I am kind of anticipating his growth."

"Right?"

Fila glanced at the guys who kept praising Albert's performance. She made a small smirk and thought, 'Ah, that's my gentleman.'

Obviously, Albert wasn't aware of her thoughts and didn't care about her. He simply knew that it wouldn't be that easy to hit Alisa even once because she kept blocking his attack.

'I need to do something irregular to catch her off guard. No matter what, I need to bonk her today or I might have no more chances in the future.' Albert took a few deep breaths as he observed Alisa.

"Oh?" Alisa smiled when she saw Albert's expression. "I am waiting."

An idea came to his mind as Albert suspiciously smiled.

"Hmm?" Alisa frowned as soon as she noticed his change of expression, but Albert didn't give her time and ran forward while lowering his bat.

They were about to clash, but Albert suddenly opened his mouth.

"Do you remember… Two days ago when you led your group back to town?" Albert smirked.

"!!!" Alisa widened her eyes as she remembered the scene. Back then, she felt someone was watching her. Since there was nothing she could find, she thought it was just her feeling.

But when Albert mentioned this, she recalled that Fila's brother faced trouble in the woods not long before that and a Demon Dog saved them. She never put much thought into it, but this statement made her realize he was the Demon Dog.

When she thought about this, Alisa couldn't help but lower her guard.

"Finally!" Albert smirked and found an opening. He didn't hesitate to swing his bat upward. "Bonk Smasher."

Bonk.

The sword was still on Alisa's hand, but it was already blown away, leaving her body vulnerable. Albert took advantage of this one chance and stabbed Alisa in the chest. "Ha!"

Bonk.

Alisa felt Albert's strength and widened her eyes, thinking, 'He used this cheap statement to lower my guard? Still, in a life and death battle, who cares about fairness? I guess I lost this time.'

'Damn. She is insane. She is horny and powerful to the point I got this much EXP?' Albert widened his eyes and felt happy since he could level up four times with just a single Bonk. 'Though, I'm so lucky to have this chance.'

While Albert was getting overjoyed by what he got, Alisa was satisfied with Albert's strength.

'He can do more after getting a job and battle experience.' She narrowed her eyes and laughed. "Hahahaha!"

Her laugh grabbed everyone's attention as they were still in a state of shock by what they had seen.

"You're very good. Albert was it?" She walked toward him and extended her hand. "Glad to have you onboard."

Albert felt flattered because he realized he was lacking so many things in this fight and Alisa had taught him that. He put his Bonk Bat in another hand before shaking her hand. "Thank you."
