Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Kusuri City

Mimi's aid in helping them reach the peak of Mt. Kusuri saved them hours of wandering and standing before these giant walls left them in a sense of awe. Would they have known that this was what awaited them, they would've tried to bring some semblance of a gift before entering.

The aura that the place gave off felt far more high-class compared to Hieki's compound and this was before even getting past the giant doors barring their way. Mimi stood ahead of the other three and spoke to the two guards standing at outposts above the guard doors dressed in a similar uniform as the female with a white and green palette.

'' Please let us in! I've finished my work in the topiary slopes as promised. ''

'' Who are those three with you? ''

Mimi's words were stopped by the guards wanting to know about the three strangers behind her, this was natural considering they had to be careful on who they let in and strangers were not exactly allowed into the area without some understanding as to why they are here and who they were.

Mimi was more than happy to shed some light on the three of them.

'' Do you remember when I went to a local tournament a month ago? These are the three contestants that battled the local criminal referred to as the Mad Bomber. ''

The Guards looked at one another before remembering that she did mention that story sometime ago, they thought that she was lying originally until other news sources had also mentioned that very same detail which gave her further credibility.

'' Very well, you four can enter the city but before we let you in. What exactly brings you here? ''

'' Master Hieki has given us a letter that must be given to the Lord of this Mountain. If things work out, we'll be under this Lords care. ''

Hakai responded to the guards after being asked for their reason for being here and he figured he'd just be entirely honest about it. The guards looked at one another again before nodding, opening the gates for the four of them before giving the three of them parting words.

'' Good luck, our Lord is quite the eccentric person but he takes good care of us. ''

The four walked past the gates to see what laid beyond the doors and saw the light of the moon shining down on a city filled with young students and adults offering one another goods and conversing amongst one another. The building at the far end of the street was huge but with the information they had before coming here, they knew what that building surely was.

The Academy was at the far end of this small city and they needed to go there and hand in the letter that they were given.

'' Mimi, is there anything you can tell us about this place? ''

'' Well I suppose I can tell you about Kusuri City. ''

Seiya prodded Mimi for some information about the community they were in and to those who didn't know about this city, it was easy to be confused on how this place operated. Mimi had to at least give them some aid before they wander off on their own here.

'' This City was founded by our Lord many many years ago, while I don't have any particular information on our Lord, I do know that this city was founded on the basis of acquiring knowledge and continuous discovery of the unknown. In here we use both natural currency to receive services or information scrips. They both hold the same value here and they can be earned through taking on tasks given daily or at a proper job here. You three mentioned something about being under our Lords care right? It sounds as if you're joining me at the Academy then so let's get going. ''

Mimi finished giving the basic rundown of the city so that they knew something at the very least about how this city functioned. The three of them looked around to see if they could tell who was a youkai and who was a human here but it was difficult to tell from mere glances. The spiritual power of those here was above the common mortal man.

The lines were very blurred here so unless they went up and started asking if they were youkai or not, they wouldn't get the answer at least as things stood.

Eventually they reached the stairs leading into the Academy and all its grandeur. The three looked at Mimi before bowing their head in thanks, in which Mimi responded by waving her hand as if this was all no big deal.

'' I just need to thank you again for helping me find the scissors. I was given this as a loan and if I lost this, I would've had to pay the owner for having lost it. ''

Mimi told the three of them about how grateful she was for getting the scissors back, climbing the steps up to the main entrance of the school while telling them to follow her.

It felt strange, the architecture here was unlike anything they've seen before. This building felt like it was misplaced in time but they had only regarded this building's design as eccentric as those previous thoughts would only come off as strange to them and nothing more.

Mimi opened the main entrance to the Academy which revealed a grand lobby for the school with various rules attached to both ends of the wall near them and various tables and chairs for the students to sit down at.

Since it was no longer the daytime, most of the students were in their dorms resting or hanging out at their friends dorms.

'' Its usually quiet around this time of night, although it can get loud if there is a party going on. Shall we go see the Principal of the Academy, the person you three are currently seeking?''
