Chapter 16 - Chapter 16 : Ten Strikes

'' That lady is taking the initiative. ''

Sakura said to Hakai as she observed Masane's movement, the female spun towards her opponent with her fan in tow.

Once she reached a certain distance, her fan started producing condensed wind spheres that would slam into Friegen continuously until he had been pushed back several feet.

Masane immediately leaped into the air and forcibly charged up a condensed sphere of air that she'd send down at the man who had only put up his hands to guard against the strikes.

He chose not to move or attempt moving, merely staring at the projectile as it came to him.

The blast exploded upon contact, leaving the audience cheering as they thought the end of the battle had come in the same vein as the previous match.

However, the silence that followed after the clouds of smoke had parted revealed that the match was not over just yet.

Friegen still stood tall, undeterred by the attacks unleashed.

'' Your attacks held such a shallow impact but it's not enough to best me. I'll defeat you from here, with 10 strikes. ''

The words that came out of Friegen's mouth cut like a sharp knife as Masane ran once more at the male but he was now on the offensive.

As she came to him, his left hand rose and he flicked his index finger forward and in that flicking finger's motion a small spark appeared on Masane's chest.

This spark caused the female to be sent flying backwards before the second spark appeared and sent her flying up and the next eight eruptions released on her physical form caused her to zig zag through the air with that eighth hit releasing a fatal explosion in the air ; sending her body falling back down onto the ring. Was this the end of the fight ?

Masane's body was at the mercy of the consecutive explosions and everyone could agree with how violent the attacks were at the consistency revealed just how dangerous Friegen had been.

The man's features were heavily concealed by the amount of dark clothing he wore and all the bandaged clothes covering his face made it harder to tell his expression outside of his eyes glaring at whatever direction they were at any given time.

The winner was announced as Masane couldn't get up. Her body was released a trail of smoke and the tournament aides had to help her out of the arena.

Seiya had been watching the fight, his mind was too focused on the attacks he saw.

Was Friegen who Seiya thought he was. . . . ?

Friegen had left the tournament ring before passing by Seiya.

'' I'll see you in the next match. ''

The dark clothed male spoke to him in a tone that described his inevitable pleasure in taking down the white haired prince. He would go to another section of the tournament area as the ring was being prepared for the next match.

'' I have to make sure I'm strong enough to face him. In this tournament there won't be any help, I can't end up like that lady just now. ''

He knew that there was a good likelihood that either she had not strengthened her attacks enough or Friegen's defense was just too high for it to matter.

He needed to account for both things when the time came for the second set of matches.

Sadly time was not going to stand still for anyone as the next two people were to arrive on the tournament grounds.

Sakura and Shiumi had entered the arena, their match was set to begin shortly.

The two bowed to one another as they stood in their battle stances.

Sakura raised her palms out, ready for combat as she observed Shiumi the Leopard as his title was which was due to the leopard pelt he had on his right shoulder.

Shiumi was of an average build and his brown hair was of the same color as the pelt on his shoulder. His muscles were easy to see since he didn't wear a shirt and allowed his torso to be intimidating to the opponent but Sakura didn't fall for it.

'' I'm ready when you are. ''

Sakura spoke in a confident voice, she saw how Seiya had done in her match and she was prepared to fight in earnest as well.

He was not the only one who improved under Hieki's training.

The announcer declared the match to begin and with it, Shiumi clenched his fists as he began taking small steps forward.

Sakura's hands began to glow as small vines began to cover her hands to create gauntlets made out of nature.

'' I will make it to the next round! ''

The two had ran towards once another as their battle had begun.

On her mind the previous match made her think on what may happen if Seiya did lose and it only gave her further incentive to do her best.

If that man bested Seiya then surely she'd.... No, she didn't want to think like that.

She had faith in him but still she wanted to do her absolute best and prove to them how strong she had become.
