Some of the elders and workers with high positions were all seated. A man dressed in an expensive designer suit threw a file on the round table, and the table slid until it reached Romulus. Romulus carried the file and opened it as he read the report. "The case is being investigated by one of the seniors under me." The man elegantly spoke.
"My question is, why is the Garrison warehouse filled with bodies?" Romulus asked and some of them nodded their heads in agreement. Trent looked bored; he wondered why the brothers wanted him here. "I told him to help transport the body. When we were informed by staff about the bodies they found in the hotel, we were shocked. I didn't want people to panic so I asked Garrison Noah to help." The man finishes narrating his story. Trent let out a snorty chuckle. The others turn to look at him.
"Why is he here?" one of the big shots asked. "I wondered the same," Trent replied before he laid his head on the cold wooden table. "Garrison Noah, is not a part of the organization, involving a civilian is a huge crime that is punishable by law," Romeos said. "I did not see what Dale did wrong." One of the elders said. "You support what he did?" Romulus looked at him with disbelief. "I also agree with Morgan but I will advice you not to do this again Dale." Another elder spoke. "Yes, my elder I promise not to do this again." He stood up and bowed at them. "Let's this go." The other Elders agreed. The smile on Trent's face didn't disappear.
The elders and big shots started to leave. "Senior investigator Dale." the man craned his neck to look at Trent. "Is there a problem?" "I just wanted to ask if that demonic cat is still alive, I want to visit Agnes but I can't because of that Cat of yours." The man laughed to cover up his confusion. "You do not have to worry anymore, the demonic cat is dead." The man laughed again before he left.
"What is that about?" Romulus asked. Romeos smiled and looked at him. "it is not the real one." "That is why you're my favorite." He winked at Romeo's. Romulus rolled his eyes. "Tell me." Romulus folded his arm. "Dale is allergic to fur." Trent yawned as he said. "He can't have a cat." Romulus chuckled. "How many of them do you think are in the organization?" Romeos asked. "Enough to overthrow us." Romulus sighed. The door opened with a clicking sound.
Aurelia entered with a frown. "Good morning Aurelia, you're late for the meeting." Romulus scratched his chin. "That is because I found out about it fifteen minutes ago." Romeos frowned. "Isaac didn't inform you." Trent couldn't help but laugh.
"When are we going to….." "Be careful what you say, the walls have ears." Trent pushed his hand into the wall, and the entire side of the wall crumbled. He dragged the man out, and Trent strangled the man, the man tried to remove Trent's hand from his neck, and his face turned red due to suffocation. "Let him go, Trent." Aurelia went next to him. Trent released the guy. The man fell to the ground, and the man kept coughing and tried his best to catch his breath.
"Let me handle him." Romeos smiled evilly. The man shivered in fear and regret. "You don't have to torture me, I will tell you the truth. The truth is.." Romeos knocked the man out. "Why would you do that, he was going to confess!" Aurelia yelled at him. "That is the reason why, I knocked him out, how can he confess before I torture him?" Romeos carried the man on his shoulders. "That is why you're my favorite." Trent walked out with him. Romulus massaged his head while Aurelia stood rooted on the ground.
Ella went to the organization first thing in the morning. She greeted her colleagues, and a lot of them asked her about Trent. Ella found it weird but she just answered them and left. She went to the tech section, Brian talking to a beautiful blonde lady. "Good morning Brian, Good morning miss." "Long time no see, Bassett." Brian looked happy to see Ella. "Good morning to you too, Mr. Bassett." The beautiful blonde lady greeted me. "Juliet, can you excuse us please." Brian asked politely. "anything for you love." The lady elegantly walked away. "She's a beauty, I am happy for the both of you." Brian realized that Ella misunderstood the whole thing. "Bassett, Juliet is an A.I." Ella was dumbfounded. "She looks so real," Ella said out loud, earning a glare from the others.
"What brings you here?" They both stepped into his office. "Well, I need some mini cameras that have audio too, something that cannot be easily seen." Ella saw the frown on his face. "I know I'm asking for much but." She blinked her eyes and Brian abruptly stood up and pressed the tiny red button on his door.
He went to one of his cabinets and removed a small transparent polythene packet. "Here, these are the new spy cameras I invented, Ella nobody in my department knows about this," Brian whispered to her. "Is it because of the shapeshifters?" Ella asked, and Brian nodded his head. "Although there are no shapeshifters among the brainiacs there are among the higher-ups and elders." "Thank you, I promise to keep a secret," Ella assured. Brian looked relieved.
"All you have to do is place the chameleon, and I will do the rest for you." He said in a low voice. "Chameleon." Ella's brows furrowed. "That's what I call it since it takes the shape and color of the object it is placed on." "Brian, you're a genius." Ella smiled. Brian couldn't help but smile too. "Samuel, is it possible for us to meet after your mission?" "Yes, but I have to go now." They said their goodbyes and Ella left and hurried straight for her other job.
Ella was eating her lunch together with Nicky at the work cafeteria while thinking of ways to place the cameras in her boss's office. Nicky looked at the watch. "Sam, we only have ten more minutes." Nicky adjusted her glasses. "Well we are done with our meals; do you want us to go back to our workstation?
Beep! She pulled out her phone from her purse and clicked on the message.
"Ariella Patterson, daughter of Samuel Patterson, I advise you to drop this case."
Nicky notices the scowl on Ella's face.
"What's the problem, Sam?"
Ella looked at her and then smiled to cover it up.
"Nothing is just a reminder.
Her phone beeped again and she read the text message.
"If you don't leave now you are going to end up like your father, heed my warnings Ariella Patterson."
Nicky kept observing and saw the deep line of thought smeared on her forehead.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about it?" She asked Ella and Ella just shook her head.
Ella's eyes widened, Nicky looked in the direction of her sight and saw a man in his late forties eating a burger with a teenage girl by his side.
Ella went over and the two hugged, she also hugged the teenage girl and they began to chat.
A pretty redhead lady strode into the cafeteria and stood up front. "I have an announcement to make! All new staff is to report to the auditorium. Thank you!" the lady said before walking out.
Ella said goodbye and went back to Nicky.
"Who are the man and the girl?" Nicky asked.
"We used to be neighbors."
All the new staff got up and made their way to the auditorium. She dragged Nicky with her. Everyone took their seats, the crowd kept talking and laughing as they waited. While Ella was thinking about the messages she received.
A man wearing a tailored black suit stood in front of the podium. "Good morning everyone, my name is Garret Gordon. At the end of the year, we invite our workers to a Christmas treasure hunt. Last year's winner got five million dollars." The crowd went into an uproar.
"Five million dollars that's a huge amount of money." The recruit kept talking amongst themselves. Nicky's attention left Ella when she heard the amount.
The money meant nothing to Ella, all that was on her mind was how to find out who sent the message to her.
"When you all came to sit, you must have seen the small booklet on your chairs" The others looked at the booklet. Nicky frowned, she stood up and saw the flat booklet she carried before seating back.
"Now, our president wants to say a few words. Welcome President Richard Tiger!"
