Ikenna Uzoma is seated at the back of a company bus, barely awake, as it drives through the rough and bumpy roads of Rivers State.

He just got hired for his dream job, a systems engineer at Royal Pearl Oil Company, and his first assignment is to fix a major oil pipe damaged by vandals.

After passing through numerous security checkpoints, the bus comes to a halt and Ikenna is woken up by his colleague, Daniel Smith.

They get off the bus and put on their safety equipment, hard hats, boots, gloves and jackets. Their destination is deep inside the forest but before they can step in their security detail gives a short announcement.

"Good afternoon everyone, some of you may know me but for those that don't my name is Richard Von Bommel, Head of Security. My job is to get you to the site and back in one piece, so follow our instructions, watch your surroundings and all will be well".

Ikenna stands stiff, nervous about going into the forest but Daniel reassures him "First time eh? Don't worry, usually nobody bothers us when security is around, just watch out for wild animals, especially the snakes, they don't like visitors".

Ikenna sighs and responds "Thanks, I'll keep that in mind".

They walk down the path to the pipe and the walk is mostly uneventful. After wading through several stretches of deep marsh they find the pipe which has left a massive oil spill, coating the entire scene a dreary black accompanied by an equally offensive smell.

Once the security team has scanned the area and returned without seeing anyone, they get to work sealing the leak. The solution is temporary and Daniel tells the team they might return to replace the entire pipe.

One of the guards, feeling confident about the successful outing, decides to break from the group so he can urinate.

As he finishes and is about to leave he sees something moving underneath the water.

The rest of the group hears a gunshot followed by a loud scream which puts them on high alert. They call out for their comrade, who doesn't respond, while trying to organise everyone for departure.

More gunshots are heard and one of the guards shouts "SNAKE… RUN!" before being pulled down into the water.

The rest of the guards form a protective circle around the engineering team as Von Bommel shouts "We're getting out of here now!"

Before they can leave, several large snakes, many times the size of a normal snake, burst from the water and start attacking the men.

The security team tries to shoot them but they are surrounded and overwhelmed.

The engineers scatter in all directions but they are picked off one by one, some swallowed whole and others dragged to unknown destinations by the snakes.

Ikenna runs as far as he can through the marsh, not minding whatever cuts and scrapes he gets from frantically hitting the trees.

His attempts to run amount to nothing as he is eventually caught by a snake, which grips him tightly and swallows him like the rest of them.

All the while Ikenna prays and begs for forgiveness, wondering what he could have done to deserve this.

He feels his life slipping away but before he can lose consciousness he is vomited onto a greasy, slimy floor.

He wipes away the burning mix of slime and digestive juices from his face while gasping for air.

Opening his eyes he witnesses a horrifying sight, several hundred snakes of varying length are crawling around him in a pit hidden deep underground. He can hear the cries of his screaming coworkers echoing through the labyrinth.

Out of a tunnel in the walls, a creature with the top half of a woman and the body of a snake crawls out and surrounds Ikenna

Ikenna collapses into a fetal position on the ground, thinking he must be having a nightmare mumbling, "Oh God…Oh God" .

The creature gently crawls alongside him and whispers in his ear "In this land, I am God" before several snakes surround him and pull him into the same tunnel she crawled from.

The tunnel leads to a room with several holes filled with an oily, black substance. Some of the holes are rounded like bubbles and throbbing with erratic movements.

The creature rubs Ikenna's shoulders and whispers in his ear again "I like you, I feel there is something special about you. That is why I hope you do better than the rest".

As she says this one of the bubbles bursts and the severely deformed bodies of Daniel Smith with hundreds of small snakes ooze out from it.

Ikenna is pulled into his own hole, surrounded by snakes and sealed within to be transformed.
