Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Cultivation

Years passed happily. LeeAnne was given the name Leng Ling on her first birthday. The wolf cubs of her new family received their new names the month before her on their 1 year birthday. They had been named Leng Bao, Leng Bojing and Leng Ai respectively. Leng Ai was the only female cub of the three. The wolf cubs treated Leng Ling as a little sister despite her being a human.

Leng Fei and Leng Hui taught the four of them about the world they lived in. It was not the Earth that Leng Ling had known before but a world of cultivation and supernatural. Beasts of all kinds could cultivate. Not just humans. Beasts could gain a human form once they had reached the Deity level in their cultivation.

The country they lived in was called Long Guo. It was currently ruled by an Emperor called Long Hu. Emperor Long Hu had an Empress, Feng Li, as well as several noble consorts and concubines. Long Hu had several children but the third prince and the fifth princess were the Crown Prince and Crown Princess and were the only children of Empress Feng Li.

Long Guo was placed on the west coast of the Wuxing Continent. There were four other countries on the Wuxing Continent: Fenghuang Guo was to the north, Hu Guo was to the east, Qi Lan Guo was to the south and in the center of Wuxing Continent sat, Di Guo.

Leng Hui was correct in the Leng Ling was unusual for a baby. The moment her limbs were strong enough to handle it, Leng Ling could roll, crawl, stand and walk, all before she was 10 months old.

Leng Fei taught Leng Ling how to speak not only the human language but how to speak all the language of the beasts, since only beasts above the Supreme level of cultivation could speak the language of humans. Since they lived in 10 Thousand Beast Forest which was located in the southwest of Long Guo, it was necessary for Leng Ling to be able to communicate with not only her wolf siblings but the other beasts in the forest. She also taught her how to read and write.

She was taught how to cultivate along with her wolf siblings as soon as she understood that she could do it. By the time Leng Ling was three, she was much further along than her wolf siblings. Her understanding of the levels of cultivation was that there were 7 levels in cultivation for their Continent and each level had 5 stages.

The levels for cultivation were:

1) Foundation

2) Spirit

3) Supreme

5) Natel

6) Deity, and

7) Immortal.

The stages of each level were:

1) Primary

2) Secondary

3) Middle

4) Advanced, and

5) Peak

As each stage and level increased, promotion to the next stage got harder and required longer cultivation periods. At three years old, Leng Ling had already reached Spirit Primary while her wolf siblings were still only Foundation Peak.

She wasn't sure what came after the Immortal level other than that any human or beast at that level had to move to a higher continent due to the cultivation restrictions. Nor was she sure what was normal for human cultivation since she was being raised by beasts and followed beast standards.

However, Leng Ling did understand that cultivation was based on an affinity with the elements. Even beasts had an affinity with different elements according to their tribes. Leng Hui and Leg Fei were the Wolf King and Wolf Queen of the Fire Wolf Tribe. They naturally had an affinity with fire. Leng Ling on the other hand seemed to have an affinity with all elements, which was unusual in itself.

Because of this, Leng Hui arranged for different beasts of each element affinity to teach her skills for their respective element.

By the time Leng Ling was 10, she had reached Supreme Middle. It was at this time that Leng Fei gave her the pink pouch that Leng Hui had taken from her dead mother when he found her.
