He wasn't as magically gifted as Rigel, but he was more gifted on it than most, only losing to Roman, who was also known as the strongest attack magician. Thus, being skilled in his own way, he made me learn as much as I could about magic. After all, there are tons of magic you can use without utilizing incantations.
Which, my family isn't familiar with, since they work directly with incantations, and these need to be spoken loudly. The only ones who never needed to do that were my great-grandmother and grandfather, who were elementalists. Great-grandma having been in contact with the air elemental, whereas grandpa was in contact with the water elemental.
Magically wise, there are eight elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, Air, Ego, and Soul.
The most common are the first six, whereas it's extremely rare to find anyone representing the Ego and the Soul elements, though there has been record of it, in the Primal Era of our world, around seven millennials ago, and they existed at the same times, as they are said to be the strongest, and need one another to coexist in the same world. Be it as opposites, or by complementing each other, such as the Yin and the Yang energy that all of us possess in our core.
We do not chose your element, it's decided on the time we are born, as it depends on the season you are born into. We have three season, each lasting four months each. From January to April it's Autumn, from May to August it's Winter, and from September to December it's Spring. Each element being fragmented in five sub-elements, except for Metal, the only one with four sub-elements only, thus it's looked down on.
Those born in the first half of Autumn are of the Metal element, and if gifted, may evolve chemical, magnetism, electricity, and acid; whereas, those born in the second half of Autumn are of the Earth element, and if gifted, may evolve rock, gravity, glass, crystal, and bone.
Those born in the first half of Winter are of the Water element, and if gifted, may evolve fluid, mist, ice, blood, and cold; People born on the second half of Winter, like myself, are of the Air element, and if gifted, may evolve gas, sound, lightning, weather, and vacuum.
Lastly, Spring. Those born in the first half are of the Wood element, the green mages, if gifted, they may evolve flora, herb, fungus, poison, and decay. While those born in the second half are of the Fire element, and if gifted, may evolve light, energy, combustion, magma, and heat.
Commonly, people see those of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth, as the strongest; that's why they are the most wildly known, and called the four main elements of the eight. Many people purposely try to have children calculatedly so they can be of any of the four main elements, which wasn't the case with me, as I was an unplanned pregnancy.
Honestly, I was supposed to be born on the 1st half of Spring, and of the Wood element, but I was an anxious baby and had the unfortunately "luck" of coming a month sooner. Thus I'm of Air.
But again, that's all related to your natural potential. To the magic in your core. You can perform entirely differently if you are knowledgeable in incantations as my family is.
Now, Ego and Soul, as I said before, are beyond rare, and are extra elements. If you are lucky and blessed to have one of them, you will possess two types of elements in your core, thus, making you extremely powerful. Those who have either Ego or Soul, possess one of the other elements. Nevertheless, just because you possess one of the six elements, doesn't mean you are to possess Ego or Soul.
On the old records of those who possessed the elements of Ego or Soul, it said that Ego divided itself in four sub-elements: Chaos, Void, Darkness, Oblivion, and Nightmare. Whereas Soul, as it is it's counterpart, divided itself in Order, Purity, Radiance, Consciousness, and Dream. Said to exist on the purpose of opposing to what the Ego can do. But the records only go far enough to name it's sub-elements, it doesn't really explain shit.
The other division of power, which is also related to your birth, are the Internal and External magic uses.
Internal magic users are born in day and possess power from within their bodies. Similar to the Sun, their cores emanate energy, and they require touch to channel their magic. They rely on their intuition and often have extra-sensory abilities. Abilities that goes from body transformation (iron skin, flight), enchantments (crafts, magical items), and heightened senses (heat vision, water dowsing).
External magic users are born at night and have the ability to control their element from afar. Like the Moon, they influence the world around them and can trigger changes with their minds. They are intelligent, disciplined, and determined. Abilities going from psychokinesis (levitation, animation), area of affect (thunder, storm, earthquake), and elemental manipulation (fireballs, rock armor).
But, like in everything, there are the rare exceptions, the irregulars. Those who, despite their time of birth, are able to utilize their magic both from the internal or external way. Prodigies that are appear once in their generation, and live for their own growth. Like Roman – though he only mastered that at 18, which I only know thanks to my 3rd life when I only died at 25.
Naturally, every Fae have a minimal amount of magic in their cores, nonetheless, you can only utilize it if you have an ocean of magic strong enough to make it circulate through all the 888 main acupoints in your body, and those who are exceptionally gifted, as my entire bloodline, are able to make their magic circulate through all the 1000 acupoints in their bodies.
That requires intense meditation, peace, reclusion, a strong will and mind, patience, and more than anything, resilience. One more reason why, even if you are gifted like my family, you only awaken your powers when you are 9 to 10 years old, maybe older. It's rare to see anyone younger than that awakening it.
Just doing it with the 888 main ones requires a ridiculous amount of magic of any Fae. That is why most people are unable to do it, though, it does not change the fact that every Fae in the world has at least 8% of magic in their body, since it's also related to the essence of life. And that is also why the stronger you are magically wise, the longer you will live.
When it come stop Yin and Yang energy, it's directly related to one's soul, and every living thing possess it.
Yin and yang represent the female and male principles from which all things in the universe are generated. Yin is essence, yang is function. Yin is dark, cool, moist and quiet. Yang is dry, hot and active. Yin is the moon, reflective and deep. Yang is the sun, bright and strong.
Neither yin nor yang are pure.
If a person is a yang type, he or she is more "outer-directed," extroverted and active. Often focused on what is "outside" of themselves, yang types need quiet time and reflection to balance energy. Their bodies can be hot, they can crave alcohol and meat, and may have high blood pressure, headaches or ulcers.
Yin types are quieter and tend to be more introverted. Focused on their inner lives, the yin types often need more fire to motivate them into action. If a person has excessive yin energy, fatigue and inertia may be present. Cold hands and feet, puffy ankles, or slow digestion may arise in the body. When the yang energy is deficient, the yin rises to excess, and when the yin is empty, the yang becomes excessive.
Different from the others, when it comes to your core energy, your Yin and Yang, only five elements are recognized, and you have it all but you can lean towards one of them specifically, regardless of when you were born, or of you magical potential, as Yin and Yang aren't about magic but energy. Thus, only Fire, Water, Earth, Wood, and Metal are recognized.
There is a continuous flow of energy – rushing, pulsing and streaming, one to the other, in an endless cycle of variations that create all the phenomena In our world. The cycle of generation is described as water producing wood, which burns and creates fire, which leaves ash and becomes earth, out of which metal is mined.
Those who lean more on their energy and not on their magic, usually practice martial arts. And to do that, you need to learn about your 12 meridians, and the respective organs each of them are located on, so you can store your energy respectively. Each of our organs and meridians are associated with a different element, thus, you need fore understanding to be a martial artist.
Water is associated with kidneys and bladder, wood with the liver and gall bladder, fire with the heart and small intestine, earth with the spleen and stomach, and metal with the lungs and large intestine. No element or organ exists independently of another, and all elements need to be balanced for us to be healthy. In fact, within each meridian, there are fire, earth, metal, water and wood points that allow the acupuncturist to see each element within each meridian.
To do it properly, you need to understand if you are governed by Yin or Yang, as the elements are concentrated in different organs for each of them.
