A Day In The Fated Future
Location - Unknown
(Elliot's POV)
The Kingdom of Yonwicker was a large and beautiful "island" that had the ability to fly through space.
Powered by an engine called the "Quintessence System", Yonwicker was fueled with unlimited energy.
This same system was what we used to sustain our everyday electrical needs.
Another thing worth noting was it's shape.
Although Yonwicker was one structure in of itself, it was sculpted in such a way to where it seemed like one large dragon was carrying a kingdom upon it's back as it flew across the skies. It was an image every artist would want to paint.
Bearing a size equivalent to that of a country, it served as the perfect base of operations.
In one particular part of Yonwicker lied a giant mansion belonging to Jezebel. This was what you could consider our "home".
This was Yonwicker, The Kingdom of the Gods.
"Kingdom of the Gods, eh? Heh, you sure love going into detail with these kinda things."
To my surprise, a familiar man on my right suddenly spoke, interrupting my train of thought.
"Goddamn it, Kiliah… I told you not to interrupt me while I'm narrating." I replied with subtle annoyance.
"My bad, my bad~"
Rolling my eyes at his defensive gesture, I slammed my book shut with one hand and gazed off towards the abyss elsewhere.
Despite Yonwicker's country level size, it was rather lonely and devoid of life. To put bluntly, it was no different than that of a ghost town.
The amount of people who "lived" here was so small, it could be counted with just my hands.
And out of that handful, me and Kiliah made up two of the four individuals who stood out here, waiting for a "certain someone" to arrive.
Kiliah, in a way, is someone you could consider my "brother", however we aren't exactly related by blood.
We mainly refer to each other as that because that's simply just how deep our friendship runs. Especially, since he was the first to make a certain part of my "journey" all the more easier to handle.
"Aw, your welcome~"
"Shush. I wasn't talking to you."
Despite his frivolous and rather laid back looks, Kiliah possesses a very strong ability to "lead others", and because of that, I appointed him to be the second in command here.
In any case, as of right now though, while the four of us were waiting on top of the Yonwicker's head, he was playing around with his favorite pocket knife, just to pass the time. The sounds of him flicking it back and forth echoed through the empty silence.
Honestly, it was almost distracting.
"Can you stop?" I asked.
"Eh, deal with it. It's not like I'm bothering anybody, right Zeras?"
Hoping to catch her attention, he tilted his head to the side to look at Zeras who stood behind him.
Needless to say, she didn't respond, let alone entertain the thought.
"Tch, still giving me the cold shoulder? Even after everything we've been through? How can you be so cruel….!?" He asked in a fake victimized voice.
"Quit being so melodramatic…." She replied.
"She speaks!"
This guy…..
But that's enough of those two. It's time to move on to someone who I think truly deserves the spotlight.
Averting my gaze elsewhere, I walked towards Meredith with a small smile on my face.
"Enjoying yourself?" I asked her.
She nodded happily, even chuckling a little.
As she stood only a few inches away from the edge of a cliff, Meredith was holding out her arms to embrace the wondrous sights with only the brightest of smiles, her loose and long blond hair danced elegantly to the beat of the wind.
Simply watching her was enough to make me want to embrace her.
"Pervert~"
I may or may not have touched her in the wrong, (right), places.
"Sorry..."
"Hehe~ I didn't say stop you know."
Although our eyes didn't met yet, I could practically sense the smugness in her smile.
Eventually, she returned her attention towards the horizon and the beyond.
"You know, there's just something endearing about absorbing the cosmic rays and just staring off into the vast beyond." She mumbled aloud.
She wasn't wrong. If one were to take in the sights that we were witnessing right now, nine times out of ten, one would feel a lot less self centered and appreciate the "bigger picture" that we call life.
"Oh, stop it. We all know you're just trying to get tan lines so you can seduce Elliott~" Kiliah commented.
"Heheh~…."
Suddenly, Meredith chuckled awkwardly.
"If that's the case, then I'm looking forward to it." I casually replied, speaking as if it's not a big deal.
"I can see the anticipation in your eyes~" He whispered to me.
Damn it.
Why must you be so good at reading people...
"Well, you can't really fault me. Meredith is my wife, after all." I said, defending myself.
Understanding that, he shot me an expression that said "fair point" before backing off on the subject.
As everyone continued talking with each other, I stepped back for a moment to appreciate the people I had.
Kiliah, Zeras, me and Meredith. Out of all the people of this world and the beyond, these guys were by far the closest group of friends I had.
The four of us were a single unit. A team who didn't move without the other. Our plans were grand. And we bound for success.
No matter who stood in our way, no matter what vile scheme we had to rely on, we were going to build the future we had oh so painstakingly envisioned.
That's why I'm proud to call myself their leader.
