Chapter 7 - A World Away From Home

A Day In The Fated Future

Location - Unknown

(Dazai Crowley's POV)

Despite the amount of progress I made in these past few moments, I wasn't able to find the answer to the most critical problem that I was facing.

My amnesia.

Until I'm able to regain some of my most recent memories, I won't be able to find out how I got in this situation in the first place.

In any case, answers usually come from asking questions, and I still had Blair to my disposal that I could potentially utilize.

Still, I can't disregard the fact that she is untrustworthy.

There were many other questions I needed to ask, and actions, on her part, that she needed to explain.

Not to mention, if I was to consider the context of the situation, then-...

....-there is one dreadful possibility I simply cannot ignore.

However, if "that" was true, then accusing her without some type of insurance would a foolish idea....

One idea I did have was that If only I did have access to my previous magic, then I should atleast be able to defend myself in the worst case scenario.

Because of that, I waited till Blair was busy looking elsewhere before I stared at my right hand to check something.

Shortly later, and surely enough, I could feel a small sensation of energy flowing throughout my spiritual circuits.

It took a moment to get reaccustomed to the feeling but I was able to exude that power to generate a small yet hazy aura of white light over my hand.

Although my amnesia prevented me from knowing the true extent of my powers, it seemed like my muscle memory hadn't forgotten the very basics.

I even remembered what seemed to be one of my go to spells I relied on back in the good old days.

A basic magical spell that, while alone wasn't too spectacular, would later evolve into me obtaining unimaginable power.

"Armament-…" I whispered aloud.

"You say something dear?~" Blair asked me.

Damn, this woman got some pretty sharp ears. Even if my words had slipped out my mouth by mistake, I was sure I spoke in a near inaudible whisper.

Speaking of noticing something insignificant, this gave me an interesting idea. Since I had the ability to use magic now, that means I should be able to sense my surroundings for anything related to it.

However, I refrained from projecting that skill in the form of a radar, since, again, I didn't want Blair to sense the abilities I regained.

Instead, I converted that perception spell that had a more pinpointed field of focus instead of the sonar that ships use.

The staple skill used in most adventures, "Appraisal".

Since I wanted to establish an escape route before all else, I used that same skill on the nearby windows, which strangely had their blinds forced shut, and the only door that led in and out of the bedroom.

That was when I noticed that each of them were secretly enchanted with some sort of advanced protection spell, as if serving to be some sort of seal.

Now why would that be there?

More importantly, who placed it there? How odd.

My eyes unexpectedly turned to the only person here in this loathsome room.

Blair-....

Could she have-.....?

If she is who I may think she is, then I would be right in keeping my abilities a secret.

With every moment that passed, the more my trust in this woman descended into the negatives.

My suspicion for her had reached such levels, I actually started to see her as a potential enemy.

Given my physical condition and the fact how she had two swords concealed beneath her armour, I'm not sure how I would fare against her in face to face combat.

But, you know-....

Blair looks to be pretty preoccupied by her surroundings.

If I was to walk towards her really, really quietly, I'm sure it wouldn't be too difficult to just-…

....-snap her neck?

No, wait!

There are still plenty of things I need to understand first before I jump the gun.

Until I understand her true intentions, it's far more dangerous to act based of unconfirmed assumptions.

*Sigh*....

In any case, I need to cover my act and make sure any and all of my previous intentions were erased.

"Do you know how I even got here?"

"Sorry, Darling, but I don't have a clue. When I awoke, you were already here, knocked out even."

"Awoken? Wait, how long have you been here?"

"I don't remember. The concept of time in this place is severely distorted. If I was here for an hour or even a day, I wouldn't be able to tell."

So it wasn't just me, huh.

"I wonder-…." I mumbled aloud.

As I was thinking to myself, I walked towards the nearby windows to confirm something.

For a moment, I hesitated to touch it because of the magical barrier I noticed earlier.

But eventually, I opened the blinds.

...-Surprisingly though, nothing happened.

I wonder if the barrier was designed to respond to violence rather than simple interaction.

But that mysterious spell was the last thing on my mind. What did catch my attention was rather the view on the other side of the window.

"What the hell-…."

It was nothing but space, a form of darkness that extended beyond the horizon. The sky, or lack thereof, was painted with the dark variants of a rainbow.

Large "waves" of multicolored cosmic energy flew above like a mysterious lazy river. It was as if we were in the midst of a neverending aurora that took place in the very cosmos itself.

Cosmos, huh.

Honestly a fitting term since this experience was practically otherworldly.

In fact, wherever we are or whatever used to be my home, I knew for sure this wasn't Yggdrasil.

Well then, ignoring the idea of being abducted by aliens, I noticed the reason as to why time felt so distorted.

Whatever world, dimension or universe we were in right now, it felt like the concept of time was stagnant to the point it even felt nonexistent.

Confused, I glared towards Blair who was chilling so nonchalantly in the background.

"Hey, Blair? Remember when you told me we were just in my bedroom?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Then what is this?" I furiously asked while pointing towards the outside world.

"Oh, that~.... Whoops~... I forgot to tell you, but it seems like we're floating through space right now."

"That not something you can just forget about…"

"My bad, teehee~"

Maybe snapping her neck isn't that bad of an idea-….
