To pass the test, he would need to beat all the pass testers, all those who failed the test previously.
They would have all their power stripped from them and have their scythe-wielding ability increased, it was either Shane beat them or they would kill him first.

Shane wasn't afraid, or even surprised by the task he would have to accomplish to pass this rest and stay alive.
Since he had stepped forward and grabbed the scythe he knew there was no turning back, he either passes the test or died.
But he had been prepared for this a long time ago, long before the scythe even appeared on Earth.
(Flashback)
Shane was just a child, one that was going through the hard times that came with being on his own at a young age.
Abandoned by his parents, Shane stole and lived off the streets as best he could, eating from dumpsters, and saving the little money he saved for the future he saw for himself.
Even as a child, after being abandoned he of course cried a hated the world, and fell into a state of sadness and despair, but this didn't last long.
Compared to other children his age, Shane was resilient and refused to let the current situation, be his entire life.
But even with his grand ambitions, he was after all still a child, just barely managing to survive day after day, that was until he met an old lady.
You see living on the streets with no support, Shane had started to believe in certain religions, and believed there was a higher power at play that would help him get through his current hard times, but Shane wasn't completely hooked on any one religion.
He when to the different churches, and learned what he could from there and the numerous libraries, but the more he learned the more he realized one thing, there is no solid proof of any of the Gods of these religions actually being real.
The closest thing he found he proof was a very old book detailing the rise and fall of the Gods of Olympus, and this book was also the first time he heard any mention of the Original Serpent Cul Borson, and it was where he met the old lady that would come the broaden his horizons.
Currently, in an old library, there was a boy wearing what seemed to be rags as they barely hung on to the boy.
The boy himself was dirty, dried mud and dust clung to his exposed body, the cold air that blew through the library seemed to have no effect on him as was completely immersed in the book he was reading.
"The God of Fear, Space, Death, destruction and magic Cul Borson descended on the world, and with his descent came the downfall of the Olympian gods, he killed their king and pressured the remaining gods to leave the planet, having no means of fighting back the Olympian gods could only obey him and leave.
But this wasn't his final act, before leaving he made a declaration that would surely protect this planet for years to come ' I have Clesened this planet of the ruthless gods that live on it, in the name of Cul Borson I rename this planet Midgard so henceforth no gods may walk it again." the boy read out loud as the more he read the excitement in his voice grew until he repeated the declaration of Cul in a voice as he tried to sound powerful.
"Hahahahahahaha, brat you sure are funny, repeating the words of our god in that pitiful voice." a voice says as an old lady approaches Shane.
"Our god? Do you believe the words written here?" Shane questioned the lady.
"Of course, don't you?" the lady asked.
"I...I don't know."
"From the way you were acting just now, I believed I would get another answer." said the old lady.
"It's just a story, like all the other religions I have seen there is no proof." says Shane.
"So it's proof you want? Everyone wants proof that the religion they follow is the correct one, what makes you think you deserve it more than those who have believed for years without any proof?" asked the old lady.
"..." Shane couldn't refute her.
"So I should believe without proof? What if I'm wrong and the real god is dissatisfied and takes out his anger on me?" asked Shane.
"Hahahahahaha, I guess I forgot you are just a child, but your questions have reminded me well." said the old lady
"How about taking a leap of fate?" asked the old lady.
"No, I'll need proof before making any decision about this topic." says Shane.
"Truly a foolish way to look at things, but that is my opinion, I'll give you a bit of proof, if you choose to believe it after is your choice." as she spoke her voice lost its friendly tone and became serious and cold as Shane slowly fell to the ground.
