Rii continued to admire the black stone as Kiwo explained to them the properties of it.
-It's an obsidian, it's very reliable when it comes to protection from magic, but it isn't really a material you could make armour with since it's extremely effective against magic but not so much for swords and arrows, so even quartz would be a better material for armour, I mean reflecting magic* AND being sturdy? What a win! Unfortunately it's very heavy and wouldn't be ideal for combat…
Rii listened to Kiwo talk about stones for all of the evening, they learned a lot and were fascinated by how much Kiwo knew about magical stones and just stones in general. From emerald to topaz, he knew A LOT, Rii was captivated and the day passed by fast. Before they could finish their tea it was already time for dinner.
Kiwo stured the pot, full of soup.
-So, the solis flower is a flower that's immortal? That's amazing. Rii said, full of excitement. Where do they grow?
-Hmm, about everywhere, especially near old cities and temples. And even though it's just a legend, people say they come from the passage of celestial beings*, passing by villages to meet with prophets and/or old friends. He sighed as he imagined the flowers bloom under the feet of the beautiful beings that descended to the plakets in gorgeous robes.
-But won't the Solises get tired of living in the same place for eternity? Rii asked, a little sad for the poor flowers.
-Huh, haven't really thought about it like that, but I guess you're right, looking at the same scenery for all eternity would be quite boring. Kiwo stopped talking as if he was remembering something.
-Speaking of Solises… You haven't met Solis yet, have you?
Rii shook their head. 'If I remember correctly, Solis is Mister Crimson's daughter who went into knight training.'
-How unfortunate, you guys would be great friends I'm sure of it! I'll introduce you the next time we go to Gorvi's house, okay? Kiwo said, he seemed thrilled for Rii to have a friend.
Rii nodded vigorously, they were as excited as Kiwo.
'Next time we go to Gorvi's house' is what Kiwo said but he couldn't have known that they wouldn't get a chance to meet him for a while as he had to go to the Northern kingdom last minute* because of a huge mana outbreak in a cave not far from Morbid tower of the central peak of our plaket.
And just like that, half an era had passed without much trouble or any kind of major problem, Rii was beginning to wonder if the scientists had abandoned the idea of capturing them or if they were waiting for the right moment. Either way, there was no way they didn't know where Rii was, they just hid in the first house they found after all.
That false hope gave Rii a weird feeling in the back of their stomach, like a big grey cloud hovering over them, waiting for Rii to be happy so it could ruin it.
That kind of trick could easily break someone's will and happiness. And if it went on for a long time it could potentially drive someone crazy. Fortunately, Kiwo was there for Rii and he did his best to support them. The weird thing about it was that Kiwo didn't even ask Rii why they were chased by people or why their core and mana flows were a mess. He just did his best knowing what he knew. Because of that, Rii felt obligated to tell him before what the scientists have planned goes into action and/or he finds out by himself.
And so, one evening after eating dinner, Rii asked Kiwo if they could talk. They suggested that the both of them go outside, in front of the misty woods as that was where Rii felt most calm, looking at the night sky.
Rii took a jacket, it was starting to get colder and colder the more they advanced into the era, Winter was coming after all.
Kiwo followed them out and they both sat down on the small balcony.
Rii took a deep breath and started to talk.
-I've wanted to talk about this for a while and I've decided to tell you now that I know I can trust you. The reason why I was out in the middle of the night, being chased by people, was that not long ago, I was in a facility, being tested on and confined into a little cell, unable to get out. I finally escaped during a test session, taking down with me almost half of the building. I don't need to tell you how mad they were, but the fact that they certainly know where I am and haven't done anything concerns me…
Kiwo nodded, he also found it strange now that he thought about it, that even after a few months, they weren't attacked, there weren't any traces of anyone spying on them either. It made Kiwo feel uneasy, he quickly changed the subject.
-But for what kind of reason would they keep you in there? He seemed quite quick to understand and figured there might be a reasoning behind it. It didn't matter if it was a fucked up reason, there had to be one, especially because they were from servonah, here, no one did anything without any hidden reason behind it, unless they were in the minority that had a pure heart.
-Well you'll have to keep in mind that I didn't get straight out of the forest where the facility resided, I hid in between the trees near there for about three days before…

1-Quartz, the magic they possess is similar to the obsidian Kiwo gave to Rii, once it's enchanted with mana, the quartz will reflect magic. And the more raw it is the more powerful the mirroring effect is.
2- Celestial beings. Gods, deroids and chaos beings. Individuals who are worshiped or antagonized for different reasons. They are all beings who either were born a celestial being, ascended( alive or dead) or were blessed by a deity.
3-Gorvi Crimson's actual job is basically to administrate first aid and help people calm down until the healers arrive. So he was VERY busy since there were a lot of people injured and not enough healers.
