Marianne woke up on the cold, moist ground and felt pain in her head. Then she opened and closed her eyes again as she tried to see her surroundings. She tried to move her hands and feet and found them tied.
'What happened?' She thought as she tried to see her surroundings in the darkness. She remembered being in her carriage, on the way to the palace when her carriage stopped and she heard some voices outside. Soon, there was a clash of swords, and then a man covering his face got inside and dragged her out.
She tried to fight off them when the man hit her back with the handle of his sword, and she was unconscious.
"Help…" she called out as she tried to sit up. There was no light source or window where light could get in.
In front of her was a steel gate, making it look like she was in a prison cell.
"Help… Somebody… Please help me…" She uttered as she sobbed. "Evan…"
