"Thank you, but I refuse." Ashley firmly turned Evan down.
Evan nodded and responded, "Alright. But don't stay in this inn anymore. She might lock you here again."
"But I can't leave here. What if Mary shows up and I am not here anymore?" Ashley argued.
"Then find another inn."
"I can't go out. People might recognize me. What if there were knights that are roaming the town?"
"But you had the nerve to go the tavern where people might see you?"
"The tavern is closed in the morning. And I ate in the kitchen all the time."
Gilbert looked alternately at both of them. It felt like watching a cat and dog debating which house they should stay. At the same time, the cat slept on Ashley's lap peacefully.
Evan sighed and said, "Fine. But I doubt Mary would come here."
Ashley frowned at Evan's remark, "What do you mean?"
Then Evan handed her Gilbert's report, "Read this."
