A crash sounded in Verum's ears, as he tried to comprehend what just happened.
The skeleton moved, but not in the way he expected.
It fell, backwards, as the spear stood in it's place, and now he could see that it was embedded in the ground.
'It was leaning on it for support. And it fell over when I entered it's aggro range.' Verum pondered
'So it had already died. Pity.' Even if he did not want to fight it, Verum was still curious as to what kind of power this one possessed.
'But what should I do now?' He wondered.
'Should I try to open these tombs? Or are they a trap?'
But before he could decide on anything, he was stunned as the tombs around him started disappearing, followed by the trees, and finally the ground itself, all of it replaced by emptiness, and different shades of blue, grey, and white mixed together without any pattern.
'An illusion?' He wondered, but that did not seem quite right.
[Please wait a moment]
'No definitely not.'
With nothing else to do, he just stared at the screen.
...
'How long has it been?' He thought.
'Ten minutes? No, more than that.'
...
'Okay, this is getting ridiculous. It has been at least two hours! How long do I have to stay here?'
...
Verum was certain that he had never had to wait this long, not even when he was travelling.
He had no idea, of how long he had been there, just floating in nothingness.
[Thank you for your patience]
He stared blankly for a moment at the words, before muttering, "Well, I didn't really have a choice here did I? You just pulled me here out of nowhere, and then just told me to wait. I don't have any way out of here, so what else was I supposed to do?"
But the next message stopped his train of thought, and sent it down another one.
[Broadcast to all: Sorry about the sudden intrusion and delay, but there have been a few modifications made to the world and power system. Do not ask why, nor how. Just know that these have been done to make things a little easier for you all. Enjoy!]
'Modifications? To make things easier?' Verum was slightly surprised, for he thought that the space he was in was a part of the dungeon, not a world-wide occurrence.
Thought after thought whizzed thorough his brain.
'Why did this happen?'
'Why is it being made easier?'
'What kind of changes have been made?'
'Have I been forgotten?'
'Why am I still here?'
Yes, he was still there, and the space showed no sign of disappearing.
Actually, it didn't show any signs at all, just a constant changing of the colors.
'So what now?' He wondered.
[Now, we can talk] A message appeared.
'Did my mind just get read? Or was it a fluke?'
[Not a fluke, I can read your mind fully, but I am just keeping it surface level now. Don't want to see all that goes through your mind, that would be boring]
A moment passed, as he tried to contemplate what that meant.
[It's me]
Gears clicked in his brain as he figured out what the messages meant.
[Finally]
'So what's going on?'
[...]
'What?'
[Can't be bothered speaking?]
'I mean, I don't really have a need to be moving my mouth to speak.'
[...And your speaking with useless words that only make your sentences longer]
[I do not like this]
'You speak as if you have experienced the feeling of this multiple times on many occasions.'
[Stop]
'Why?'
[Because I don't like it]
'Hmm.'
'Fair enough.'
[Thank you]
[Anyways, back to the topic]
'Right.'
'So why the sudden change?'
[...]
[It's... actually just correcting a mistake]
'Mistake?'
[Yeah... You know how this is supposed to be like a compensation for all sentient creatures that were still living at the time of your world's destruction, right?]
'Umhmm.'
[So... I kind of mistakenly sent you all into a survival world, instead of a compensation one]
...
[Yeah...]
'...'
'Okay... leaving that aside, why did it take so long for you to find out?'
[It didn't]
[I found out on the third day. Death rate too high for a compensation world. I got suspicious]
'Then why did you change it only now?'
[Fuuu...]
[Since all of you were already in the world, I couldn't just throw you into another one. But the mistake had to be corrected. So all the time was spent creating a new world from scratch, and the only reason I finished this soon, was that most of the world is still undiscovered, and I can just copy and paste many, many of the details. I just had to remove some of the more, 'Evolved', creatures, and simplify the power system]
'So, it should have taken longer?'
[Creating a world similar to this one? At least two to three months to get the major native forces. A week or so to get the geography. Three months for the mobs. Another for the climate of respective regions. Then there are the dungeons, two weeks for them. The longest part would be the champions, it would take at least twenty years to design, as well as name, at least a minimum of ten million champions. In total, between twenty two, to thirty years]
'That's a long time.'
[Indeed it is]
'So this is quite common for you.'
[...]
[Classified]
'That means that you work in an organisation.'
[Perhaps]
'From your response, you have trained in situations like this.'
[...Impressive...]
[I will raise you to *#IHND{#* later]
'To what?'
[You cannot hear that yet.]
'...Okay then. So, what did you change?'
[Not many things]
[But you may not like some of them]
'Why?'
[...]
[I had to remove the champion you just got, as the entire system of champion summoning changed]
'...'
'Is he dead?'
[No]
'Then?'
[His memory has been removed, and he is now waiting for someone to summon him]
'Like before I did?'
[Exactly]
'Alright. What else has changed?'
