Chapter 4 - The Confession

Owen

I know I should tell her the reason I act like this, but I feel like I can't. After I compose myself I feel more comfortable with addressing the problem. I say "Felicity, I don't actually hate you. I know you moved away because I pushed you away, but it was just a defense mechanism. I thought that if you left I wouldn't be reminded of what happened, but that's not the case. I have a friend who lives near here and he said he saw you, so I packed all of my things and moved over 600 miles away, just to try to see you again. For seven years I've been waiting, searching. You were like a mythical creature. One person saw you, but when you try to find it yourself you can't. Then one day I walked into a bar and I saw you. I got so excited, but you were with a guy and you seemed so happy, so then I gave up." I was completely surprised I admitted all of that. "I've missed you so much, I know I've been very rude and have hurt you, but please let me just go and take you out to a restaurant," I say. Felicity stands there in shock.

After processing everything I've just said she says "I'd like that a lot, I've missed you too, let me check my schedule to make sure I don't have anything going on tonight." She grabs her phone out of her pocket and as she turns it on I see a picture of us as her screen saver. It makes me feel a kind of smile I haven't felt in a long time.
