Chapter 1 - Amelia Chandler

IT WAS ANOTHER NORMAL DAY, or so I thought. Everyone else in the class is lively and mending their own business while here I am looking outside the window peacefully – zoning out.

"Amelia? Amelia? Hello, earth to Amelia?" Roxanne waved her hands to my face.

"S-sorry. What did you say?" I asked her.

"My gosh what were you thinking again Amelia? Did you get a new boyfriend?" she happily asked.

"No! I told you to stop talking about guys, it's just a waste of time," I replied.

"Hey, just how long will you live in a boring life? Enjoy it before we get to college. Who knows maybe you'll turn one just like my sister," Tiffany butted in.

"Just stop okay. Will you please go to your seat ladies," I asked them.

"Tch, here she goes again, avoiding the topic," both Roxanne and Tiffany said.

They both head back to their seats and the teacher arrived exactly after they sat down.

"Okay class, listen. We have a transferee. You may come in and introduce yourself."

The transferee entered our classroom. The girls started murmuring while the guys just silently stared at him.

"My name is Alexander Ross, nice meeting all of you."

Even with his short, simple introduction, the girls still murmuring to each other, and the guys still keeping him in check. The teacher assigned him to sit at the vacant seat in the second column, two rows ahead of where I was seated. By the way, I was located in the third column, the last seat near the back door. I prefer sitting at the back because I can see all the movements or actions of those in front of me. Right after the new student sat down the teacher also started today's lesson and it was all about that tiring algebra. An hour and a half passed. The next one is study time, it is where we can have an hour of self-studying by ourselves. But only a couple of students go to study at this time. Most were just having fun until the time passed by. But today they keep checking the new student in our class.

"I don't get it. Why is everyone giving him a warm welcome?" Jake annoyingly asked.

Roxanne and Tiffany looked at him and then laughed. "You really don't know why?" Roxanne said.

"Are you a dumbass or what?" Tiffany asked.

"It is because you are way different from him," I said.

The three of them looked at me at the same time.

"Tch." I heard Jake make a mocking sound from his mouth then I looked at him for a while and looked back at the new student.

"A bright red hair, a pair of pure black colored eyes, thick but neat eyebrows, a perfect pinkish-red lips, an average of six feet in height, and not to mention a physically fit physique. You were not in a place to compare yourself to him. That's why the girls are crazily surrounding him," I added.

Roxanne and Tiffany stared at me like they were saying that I did a good job while Jake still made an annoying face.

"Ah, I just remembered," Roxanne suddenly said.

"Jake..." Jake looked at Tiffany. "...you also acted like that when Amelia transferred here three years ago," Tiffany said.

"How can I forget that day? A perfect almond-brown hair with the same color as her eyes, a nice pinkish-red lips, a height of five feet and three, which is exactly what I like, and a perfectly curved body. Indeed I feel that she's a goddess," Jake said.

"She rejected me, but still, I am happy that she's my friend," he added.

Roxanne, Tiffany, and I looked at each other.

"You know what? You sounded like a perverted asshole. Stop it," Roxanne said.

Tiffany and I just laughed. Jake rapidly went outside the classroom after hearing what Roxanne said.

"Amelia, did you think I would not notice?" Roxanne said.

 "What?"

"You've been staring at the new student since he came here."

"Yeah, I also noticed that," Tiffany also stated.

 "Do I?"

"Yes!" both of them said with a firm affirmation.

"Well... I'm not sure but... I... N-nevermind," I awkwardly smiled at them.

"Arggh, Amelia you..." Tiffany said while pressing her palm to her forehead.

"You should really fix that issue of giving people expectations. It's freaking annoying," Roxanne added.

I just smiled at the two of them and enjoyed seeing their disappointed and annoyed faces.

The thing is... The new student's face seems familiar.

The time really flew so fast that the free time ended and the class resumed as usual.

After the class ended, Roxanne, Tiffany, Jake, Michael, and I, together went home. Since we were in the same neighborhood and it seems that Jake and Michael are always having a good time with Roxanne and Tiffany, what a lovely sight to see.

In a matter of minutes of walking home, we arrived at the neighborhood. Since my way home is different from the four, I always head home alone.

"See you tomorrow at school Amelia," Roxanne and Tiffany said. Jake and Michael also said goodbye.

"Yeah, see you." I waved my hands to them and the four of them waved at me back.

After putting up a distance between me and my friends.

 "Kei, you can come out."

Kei showed himself and took my bag.

"Amelia, I missed you," he said and hugged me instantly.

"Okay, okay but can you loosen up the hug? I c-can't b-breathe."

He instantly removed his arms wrapped around me and apologized.

"Hey, it's still early, you... You didn't go to school again?"

"It's just annoying. I hate school anyway," he said while smiling innocently.

 "Kei..."

"Oh shit, here she goes again."

Kei rapidly ran as fast as he could to get away from me. This moron, he's not even that smart but he doesn't go to school. He hurriedly jumps at the gate just to get away from me.

"Good afternoon young Master Kei and Lady Amelia."

"Oh, good afternoon." I stopped for a while and greeted the maids.

After greeting them I continued to run and captured Kei.

"At l-last, you m-moron." I was stuttering as I try to breathe.

"Amelia, I'm sorry, okay. Promise, I will go to school tomorrow. Please let me go... Please Amelia," he desperately pleaded.

"That was the exact same words you said yesterday."

Kei still continued to plead while the door suddenly opened.

"Father!" Both I and Kei bowed to him with respect.

"Are you two fighting again?" father asked.

"No father, I just gave Kei some words but... It seems that he's taking advantage of my words. Father, can I take him to the basement?" I asked.

"No, no, no. Amelia, you're j-joking right?" Kei asked.

"Do I look like joking?" I said and looked at him.

 "Hahahahahahahaha!"

Both Kei and I were confused, slowly looked at each other, when father suddenly laughed.

"You two... I knew from the start that you two will really get along. It was really a nice decision to take you here Amelia," father said.

I just stare at my father's face with confusion but I can – a little bit – I think I understand what he said.

"So, father, can I take him to the basement?" I asked father again.

"Sure, sure, you can take him wherever you want," father answered and smiled brightly. He tapped my shoulders and leave Kei and me alone in the living room.

"Now... where were we?" I looked back at Kei and dragged him to the basement.

After I left him in the basement, I went back to the living room but before I reached the living room butler George told me that father was waiting for me in his study room, then, I went there.

 "Father!"

 "You're here, have a seat."

I took a seat and so do father. He seems to have something to say.

"Amelia, did you like my gift?"

"Yes, father. It is amazing. I hope Kei will like it too."

"By the way, tomorrow Kei will be attending your school."

 "My school? Why?"

"You wanted him to go to school right? So I think it is better if he goes to the same school as you." Father smiled.

"I guess so. That moron, I'll make sure he'll graduate with me at the same time."

"Thank you, Amelia, you really worried about Kei even if you don't have to."

"No father, I am the most grateful one here. I will thank you for everything."

Father just smiled at me and patted my shoulders.

"You should take a rest, go to your room and wait for your dinner."

I agreed with him and left his study room. I went to the basement to check on Kei but I think he also liked his father's gift. I feel happy. I went straight to my room after that. After a couple of minutes, the maid called me and we took our dinner, together with Kei and his father. After dinner, I went straight to the shower and took a bath. Then, I wore my pajamas and lay down on my bed.

"Another day has passed. I wish every day will be just like this. No worries, no problems, just fun, and excitement."

I turned off the lights and closed my eyes then without knowing I fall into a deep sleep.
