Rain
It was raining heavily outside, each drop echoing for miles. A man sat intensely on an expensive sofa, glaring at the window into the treacherous storm. As if daring it to strike lightening at him.
Swish swish.
The man moved his eraser rapidly on his sketch pad. "Why can't I get this right?"
Opening
"Dinner is ready." A young man says as he closes the door, not interested in a reply.
*Sigh*
He started at his sketch pad with a warm smile, admiring the masterpiece he was drawing until the young man interrupted him. "I'll finish you later."
Ring ring
"OH MY GOD! Stacy, you won't believe it! Bryan asked me out to the school dance!" Her demeanor changed. Stacy, I'll call you back." She put down her phone. Eat and go back upstairs." She said disrespectfully.
"Okay." He took his seat and did as was told. After ten minutes of awkward silence, he finishes his dinner and heads back upstairs.
Bang
The sound of thunder rippled through the sky, sending shockwaves all through out the city, but he doesn't flinch at all at the shock.
Returning to his couch, the man stared once again into the stormy night sky for inspiration. "Aha! Now I got it!"
Swosh swosh
The sound of his pencil colliding with his pad created an artistic vibe, a sense of creation to the man. "Finally, I'm done." Proud of his hard work and efforts, he decided to paste the drawing on the wall, to remind himself of what he's capable of. "It's perfect. I'm sure Barbara will love this." He said as he looked at the image of her he drew.
Clack clack
The sound of high heels echoed in the large mansion. Her dress glittering in the white light, almost blinding to the eye. Her black curly hair flying as she swoons through her house in a groggy state. "Bullshit."
As she waltzes through the hallways in haste to marry her bed, she abruptly stopped, a force pulling her to someone. She hesitated for a moment, thinking it was nothing, but that feeling came again, dragging her to him. "I guess I better check on him."
Creeking
She opened the door slowly, afraid she might ruin one of his 'in the zone' moments. "He's asleep." She left the room and went to hers, not waiting to wash off the makeup ad she plunged into her bed.
The next day
"Hallelujah! It's Sunday." She decided to sleep in. Not having anywhere to be today.
Ring ring
"Can you believe this? He even asked me who I was talking to! What an asshole!" The young girl rambled on and on to her friend. "That's baloney! Isn't he your maid or something?"
"Uncle - as my mum says. I just hope he doesn't become my stepdad." She said, cringing at her disgusting statement. 'What is wrong with me?!'
"Yeah. That CANNOT happen. You'll be the laughing stock of the school! You gotta make sure they don't hook up."
"On it. No way I'm gonna let my social life get ruined."
Hang up
"I wonder what Bryan's wearing for school." Her cheeks turned bright red with pleasure as she imagined the options.
Yawn
He woke up from his sleep. His hair is scruffy from his night of tossing and turning. Heavy bags settled under his eyes. "Time for Breakfast."
Creaking
He opened his door, still feeling tired as he walked out.
Crash
"Hey! Watch where you're going, loser! Pick up my phone!" She ordered, her voice roaring like a lion. "What?" He rubbed his tired eyes. Pick up my phone, old man! Are you deaf?!" She yelled, her voice attracting servants to the scene.
"Why is the young miss enraged this early in the morning?" A servant asked. "He accidentally bumped into her."
"I'm sorry." He bent down to pick up her phone and gave it to her. "Don't you ever bump into me again!!!" She slapped his face with her hair as she stormed off to school, having already taken her breakfast.
He made his way to the dining room, ignoring the awkward glances at him. "Time to eat." He chowed down on the feast, even licking the plate clean to the disgust of the servants. "What a pig."
He heard the comment but didn't care. "Barbara, you're here! Come on, take a seat!" He motioned her to sit down. "Max, we need to talk."
The air in the room turned eerily quick, the intense pressure the two were exerting caused the inexperienced servants to shake as if they were convulsing.
"I know this is hard for you but it's also hard for me. I'm sorry, but, you can't live to get any longer. People will begin to ask questions."
Max's eyes dart towards her, his eyes blank. "I understand. I'll pack up and leave this morning." Max finished his breakfast and went to his room, leaving Barbara alone with her thoughts. 'I'm a monster.'
Swish swish
Max packs his things in haste. Several emotions bubbling within. "Fuck!"
Knock knock knock
"Come in!" Max says. "Max, I hope you're not angry. I didn't want things to come to this, but you know how the media's like." Barbara brought out something from her purse. "Take this."
"Is this really how low you think of me?!! You think I would accept sympathetic money from anyone?!" Max slapped her hand away, the hundred dollar bills falling on the floor. "When will you learn to let go of your pride, Max? We both know this money can help you a lot." She bent down to pick up the bills.
"I'll never accept this kind of money from anyone."
Bang
The door was swung close with a divine force. "Why do you have to be so stubborn dammit?!" Barbara cursed as he gripped the money with all her might.
Walk
Max walked angrily on the sidewalk, agitated by what had just taken place. "Why is life so unfair?" Not paying attention to where he's going, Max walks into it into the road.
Honk honk
"Are you crazy?! Get out the way!!!"
Bang
It was useless. By the time Max knew what happened, the deed was already done. Not wanting to be arrested for his mistake, the man quickly drives away, leaving Max bleeding profusely on the road. Lying helplessly on the floor, immense pain is felt all over his body. As he lifts his hand to his chest, he notices a red stain on his fingers as his consciousness slips away.
As other cars approach the scene, they pull over to help the dying man. "Quick! Someone call an ambulance!" After a short wait, an ambulance arrives that takes Max to the hospital.
Beep beep beep
"Doctor, we're losing 'em. He needs CPR immediately."
Charging
"Clear!" Shock. "Clear!" Shock. "Clear!" Shock.
Beep beep beep beekeeeeee....
"He's dead." The doctor says blankly.
'I can't believe it. I'm dead. After all these years of sorrow and faking happiness, mortality finally caught up to me. I guess it's for the best. There's no point In living if you have nothing to live for.' He paused for a moment, noticing the darkness surrounding him.
'Hey, why's hell so dark? And why can't I speak?' Suddenly, a bright light begins to shine from above. 'What's this? Am I being taken to heaven? Did God forgive my sins?'
He was brought into the light. The bright, painful light. 'Who are these people? And where am I?" Max scanned his surrounding, trying to pick up any clue of where he is, but found nothing.
"It's a boy!" The gynaecologist says as she hands him over to his mother. "I can't believe it?! After nine grueling months of pregnancy! Finally!" She took her baby from the hands of the woman. "You will grow into a vicious king, my son."
'Vicious? Son? What's going on?' Max scans the room again. 'The attires, the technology, the insignia. This isn't Earth.'
"My, he's quite the adventurous one, isn't he.The old woman begins to concentrate as she closes her eyes, a bright light glowing from her palms. She heals the mother's wounds.
'What is that? Is it magic?' Max's eyes are glued on the woman's glowing palms. 'If that's the case, then maybe I can do magic to. I'll have to learn how to use it as soon as possible to protect myself until I find a way outta here.'
