I cleared my throat, schooling my expression into a calm one. "Uh, I am not."
Ivan's brows joined together. "Uh, you clearly were. You were grinning."
I crossed my arms, looking away. "I was not."
"You were."
"Enough of this." I stood up, facing Ren who had just shook hands with the captain. "What are you here for?"
Ren took it upon himself to find a chair situated near the tent's entrance. "Did you not hear me? I said I would help."
Meryl ran up to greet Ren, earning a head pat from him. My friends and I were standing, and I had a vague sense that all three of them still wanted to ask why I had reacted that way earlier.
"You?" Niko frowned. "Why would you help us?"
Meryl planted her hands on her hips, lifting her chin as she said, "Ren knows a lot about the players! He's better than me, too."
