I could feel a blush creeping up to my neck, and it took all I could to stamp it down. Niko's face was very close to mine that I could see the silver specks on his ice-blue pupils. Once more, I found myself inwardly pulling back, trying not to pitch headlong into that deep crystal void.
"Really?" was all I could say.
The couch he was lying on was merely an inch apart from mine, with little space left in between. We laid across each other, curled on the side. A cloud must have passed over the sun, enveloping the tent with shadows. Even in the dimness, Niko's eyes shone brighter.
He dipped his chin, never breaking his stare. "Yes, Lily. You got me worried."
My heart throbbed inside my chest. And even though I was laying down, I felt the world whirl around me. I stifled my being flustered by raising my brow teasingly. "Ah, but you were the one who pushed me out of the way. Leaving me alone to face that man."
