"Someone call the constabulary!" the crowd screamed.
"They're on their way!"
"By the goddesses, can't they come any faster?! That woman's throat is about to be slit!"
"Hey, calm down! You're shouting isn't helping anyone here!"
It was chaos and madness, and they were the cause. Erilyn gave a look to August, and he understood. It was time for the next part before the constabulary comes, the people who acted as guards to protect the townspeople and worked under the orders of the town's governess.
"What do you want?" August put a hand on his chest. "Tell me, and I will give it to you. Just please, release my wife. Good sir, let us settle this with reason."
Whispers and murmurs of sympathy burst from the crowd, their complete attention on them, waiting to see how this situation might fare. How this innocent family might survive this sudden hostage. Or if they would really survive at all.
