There's a heaviness in my chest that grew more profound as the person on the door knocked twice. Cold sweat trickled down my back, and my anxiousness was heightened when I saw how silent Ivan and Niko were, their heads lowered. I had a bad feeling about this. But at the back of my mind, I could admit that I already had a clue on what was going on. On what was going to happen.
"They're here," Mel said, looking as if he had come to terms with something.
"Who?" I asked, dreadful. "Were you expecting other people?"
He smiled sadly, his emerald eyes simmering with regret. "You can say it like that."
From the corner of my vision, I caught Ivan curl his fists tightly on top of his lap. "You don't have to do this."
"I don't have a choice," Mel replied. He stood up but I blocked his way without thinking. "What's wrong, Lily?"
"You didn't tell me who they are yet."
