Hey Kj,
I wrote two letters. One in the event that we break up. The other in the event that we stay together. See if you can spot which is which.
Letter #1
Dear Kj,
Don't know where to start.
So, everything I've ever written was supposed to be read by you (my journal inclusive), so I'll stop pretending that I'm talking to myself and just be straight forward.
By the way, I'm only going to show you this if we/you decide to keep going in our relationship.
I love you when I'm happy, sad and even when I'm angry at you (and more vice versa).
I never thought serious relationships were going to be a cake walk all the way through but I never expected not to know the answers and solutions to issues that will come up. I shouldn't just be motivated by the thought of losing you but it's something I pray against very strongly.
Also, I already know that we won't break up because the only scenario that exists where I show you this letter is the one that we work things out.
What I'm trying to say is I love you underneath all the complicated relationship stuff.
Somehow I've always known that you were the one. Right from the start before I even liked you or fell in love with you. I kept talking to you even when we weren't flowing because I knew somehow that we were meant to be together.
in fact, I want you to consider this letter the worlds longest "I told you so". Also imagine me dancing around and making weird noises to emphasise it. You're stuck with me for better or for worse (hopefully better). No amount of weird adult relationship issues can take away my undying love for you.
From (still your boyfriend),
Sugarbear.
Letter #2
Hey Kj,
In the event that we break up, I want you to know that you made me very happy even for a short while and with so much distance between us.
I hope you hurt emotionally, because that means that I meant something to you (but hopefully not for longer than a few hours).
I want you to be happy and find your 6 foot tall prince who's also a funny, romantic and thoughtful guy that always knows the right thing to say and showers you with gifts (preferably in the Maldives). I also hope he's not a weirdo like me because you've been through enough weirdness for one lifetime.
Yeah, so basically enjoy your life, law school and whatever comes next.
Peace,
Olaf.
